2009 Mercedes C63 AMG
RENNtech C74 Limited Edition Widebody
Absolutely beautiful! This is a fantastic opportunity to own a truly remarkable machine.

If you haven't experienced the C63 from the driver's seat, it's difficult to describe. Certainly this is a 4-door sedan, following the line along other C-Class models, and carrying a "C" in it's name and wearing C-Class badges, but this car stands alone in every catagory. One drive and you see why. As soon as you turn the key and hear the instant snarl from the exhaust, you realize the heart of this sedan is the massive 6.3 liter V8 under the hood, making a pavement pounding 471 horsepower. The other "performance sedans" disappear quickly, both in your mind AND in the rearview mirror. Simply put, this is a luxurious, quality sports car with 4-doors that makes thunderous roars at wide open throttle and creates confusion in the mind of the guy driving the Corvette when he can't keep up. Simply put, this is one of the fastest factory 4-doors on the planet.

If the "regular" C63 doesn't quite do it for you, the Mercedes crazies at RENNtech have the solution, in the limited production C74 widebody package.
From the RENNtech site:

"Our DTM inspired C74 conversion kit transforms your C63 into an aggressive, wide bodied beast which boasts bold styling, refined aerodynamics, increased downforce and improved handling thanks to the increase in overall vehicle track width to 74". Our C74 kit represents countless hours of design, development and testing all engineered entirely in house by RENNtech. Each component is crafted in prepreg, autoclaved carbon fiber in either matte or gloss finish to suit individual desires. These components integrate seamlessly with the vehicles exterior and most components can be installed without modifications to exterior bodywork. The complete C74 conversion kit includes our proprietary rear deck lid spoiler, rear diffuser package featuring distinctive exhaust tips, front and rear fender flares and wide body conversion kit."

Full high quality carbon fiber exterior aero package includes:

  • Rear Decklid Spoiler
  • Rear Diffuser
  • Rear Widebody Kit
  • Front Wide Body Kit
  • Front Splitter
Price: $15,450 (not including the additional carbon fiber spoiler or RENNtech wheels)

The Toy Barn of Dublin is thrilled to offer this fantastic C63, finished in Silver over Black leather interior. This is a beautiful example with only 37k actual miles, a clean Carfax history, and fresh service. Condition wise, this AMG powerhouse is excellent, the Silver finish shines brilliantly, the RENNtech package looks fantastic, and the RENNtech wheels look excellent as well. Inside, the leather interior is excellent as well, everything operates as it should, and there is little if any wear present.

Points to consider: This is no ordinary C63. The C74 package from RENNtech is seldom found, top-tier quality and takes the look of the C63 to a completely different level. This Benz is ultra clean, with $25k+ worth of RENNtech upgrades, it's in excellent condition, and stands out from any other AMG on the road. You won't find another one quite like it. This Benz is serviced, ultra clean, and ready for it's new owner. Call me today for more details.

Maybach crossover looking more likely, Smart crossover possible

Fri, Apr 24 2015

Mercedes-Benz executives are still making positive noises about the chances of a Mercedes-Maybach SUV. Following Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche's answer of "most likely" at the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes Cars head of sales and marketing Ola Kallenius told Autocar that a Maybach SUV based on the next-generation GLS is "the more likely scenario." That's the same Kallenius that told Automotive News just last November that "we have no plans for it [a Maybach SUV]." It's a subtle shift, to be sure, but it's still a shift. The GLS – introduced as the latest-generation GL in 2013 – is still undergoing testing for its its mid-cycle refresh, so a Maybach version is a few years off. That would, coincidentally, give Mercedes time to see how the other super-luxe entrants are faring, and prepare its charge accordingly. Autocar expects that should it be built, it will come when the GLS shifts to the S-Class platform and most likely get the twin-turbo V12 from the Mercdes-Maybach S600 sedan, although the company's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is possible if there are strong intentions for the Chinese market. Also on Stuttgart's agenda of dreams is a Smart crossover, according to the report. It could be Smart's best chance at profitably extending the range, based on the mania for tiny utes, and that would help both Daimler and the ForTwo's Renault Twingo sibling. It sounds like this is a ways off, though, due to coming up with an engineering solution for the Smart's engine packaging. Related Video:

2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 S First Drive [w/video]

Tue, Feb 24 2015

As I mashed the throttle heading into the back straight of a nearly three-mile-long race track, I couldn't help but center my mind on two ostensibly disparate subjects: physics and pistons. If the heart of an automobile is its engine, the heart of the engine are its rotating bits – the crankshaft, pistons and the block they're nested inside. It seems fitting, then, that the internals of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 typify the brand-new 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan I found myself piloting in Portugal. Whereas the last C-Class AMG availed itself of a brute of an engine, employing 6.2 liters of displacement to make its 451 horsepower the old fashioned way, the latest AMG's V8 engine has been downsized radically. I had the opportunity earlier in the day to actually hold the pistons of the new 4.0 Biturbo V8 in my hands, alongside those of the outgoing 6.2. The difference in size is staggering, the new lumps looking downright picayune in comparison to the latter. These eight seemingly diminutive pistons turn combustion into crankshaft-spinning power inside a block that is smaller, lighter and more compact than I'd have thought possible, considering the prodigious output the engine spits out. I had gone into this assignment expecting to pen an ode to lost love; a sonnet of sorrow bemoaning the switch from massive cylinders to wheezing power adders. But I was wrong. In fact, the report that follows may indeed read a little like a love song, except it will heap praise not on what used to be, but instead on what is now possible. The new heart of AMG more than makes up for its reduction in size by relying on turbochargers and smart engineering to turn just 4.0 liters into 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque starting at just 1,750 rpm, or as much as 503 ponies and 516 lb-ft in uprated S guise. Foot to the floor, eyes focused on the turn ahead, a hard right-hander named Primeira that requires hard braking and quick reflexes, I had a fleeting moment of clarity: These are some hard-working pistons. A few days on the street and track in and around Faro, Portugal, has convinced me that the new Mercedes-AMG C63 is a better car in any meaningful measurement than it was before. And I'll go one step further. Not only is this the best C-Class AMG ever, it's also my new favorite in the hotly contested segment that includes such knee-benders as the BMW M3 and M4.

Race Recap: 2015 Hungarian Grand Prix is Magyar for 'What a race!'

Mon, Jul 27 2015

Every driver on the Formula 1 grid dreams of taking home the silverware, but only one driver each year can do it. Barring disaster in 2015 it looks like it's going to be Lewis Hamilton. The Brit has been so dominating at the front of the grid on Saturday, we can't see how he'll miss out on winning the second annual FIA Pole Position Trophy. That's the accolade introduced last season in another manufactured attempt to give drivers something to work for on Saturday, since the FIA felt leading into the first corner didn't have the pull it used to. Hamilton took his ninth pole of the season in Hungary for Mercedes-AMG Petronas with a crushing lap that put him almost six tenths ahead of his teammate Nico Rosberg in second. All Hamilton needs is one more spot at the top of the grid this season, and he's the Pole Position trophy winner. Thrilling stuff. Behind Rosberg the gaps stayed smaller, Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari a little more than a tenth behind Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo in the Infiniti Red Bull Racing less than four one-hundredths behind Vettel. We feel almost as vexed watching Kimi Raikkonen as he feels driving – he's finally got a good Ferrari, now he can't get a good weekend. The front wing broke on his car in Free Practice 1, then a water leak in Free Practice 3 robbed him of setup time on the soft tire. He lines up in fifth about two tenths behind Ricciardo. The slow, tight Hungaroring didn't agree with the Williams chassis, Valtteri Bottas the first of the Grove team drivers in sixth, his teammate Felipe Massa two places back. Between them is Daniil Kvyat in the second Red Bull in seventh. Teenager Max Verstappen put in a good showing in the Toro Rosso to grab ninth, while Romain Grosjean in a wriggling, squishy, sliding Lotus classified his appearance in Q3 at all as "a miracle." As for the race that followed, we don't expect to see another like it for a long time – it was the real thrilling stuff, one shock after another. The drama began after the first parade lap, when Felipe Massa lined up out of position and the start was aborted. The drivers did another parade lap, then lined up with everyone in place. Mercedes got swamped as soon as the lights went out. Vettel ran around both of them and led the race into the first turn, Raikkonen had come from fifth to third by Turn 1, then got the inside line on Rosberg through Turn 2 to take second place.
