The car is loaded with most of the amenities that were available on these models in that year. There is a sunroof and heated power seats. The exterior and interior of this car is so straight and clean that it is nearly impossible to believe the mileage! In fact, if it read 100,000 miles less than it does, that would be much easier to believe. It is that clean and impeccably well maintained. There is an abundance of additional general information about these Mercedes Benzes on the internet if you are looking for more technical data or performance details. We didn't want to bog you down with useless information, considering that most of the people looking at this car will know much more about it than we do. The few nits that we were able to pick is a very short list indeed. The check engine light is on (we don't know why, and the car runs fine), there are a few very minor blemishes in the original finish and there are a couple of rash touches on the wheels. Everything works as designed and the tires are very good. The interior looks and smells like a brand new car! This car was always garaged and we have lots of receipts for work performed by the local Mercedes Benz dealership. New details emerge on forthcoming Mercedes-Benz SLC
Sat, 02 Feb 2013Last we heard, the Mercedes-Benz SLC had been put on indefinite hold, but now Car Magazine is reporting that the Porsche 911-fighting "Baby SLS" coupe could be on sale by 2015. Riding on a modified SLS AMG chassis, the smaller and lighter SLC could be priced in the sub-$100,000 price bracket.
We'd already heard that the new car would feature conventional doors (instead of SLS-like gullwing doors), but this report focuses on some of the possible powertrains Mercedes-Benz is likely to use. At launch, the SLC could offer a pair of V8-powered models - a 485-horsepower SLC and a 585-hp SLC S - both being powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. About a year after launch, a new V6 model could emerge giving the SLC an estimated 333 horsepower and its lowest price point.
It also sounds like the car's name hasn't been completely finalized as some people within Mercedes are favoring a return of the SLR name.
Sunday Drive: A new Rambo Lambo takes center stage
Sun, Dec 10 2017Surprise! Autoblog readers love fast cars. Doesn't matter what shape; doesn't matter what size. As long as it's got big power, wicked acceleration, and ludicrous speed, you're interested. Take, for instance, the brand-new Lamborghini Urus. It's got a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 sending 641 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque through an 8-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels. It hits 62 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds, and has a top speed of 189.5 mph. Ludicrous speed? Check. And although you'd be hard pressed to draw a line straight back from the upcoming Urus to the old, off-road-ready LM002, at least you can say that Lamborghini does have a history of producing overpowered SUVs. A 5.2-liter V12 engine producing 444 horsepower and borrowed from the Countach certainly qualifies as big power, especially considering this was in the 1980s and '90s. A prime example just sold for nearly half a million bucks. Moving along to more traditional sportscars, we got a sneak peek at the next Porsche 911's interior, thanks to some intrepid spy photographers. And we spy with our little eyes some major changes to the quintessential German sportscar. Finally, we round out this Sunday Drive with two First Drive reports. Both are German, but past that, they couldn't be more different. Either way, ludicrous speed is all but guaranteed by either one.
