Mercedes Sl500 2001 Amg on 2040-cars
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States

Let me introduce you to Max. My Mercedes SL500 2001 AMG 2 door Convertible which i am reluctantly putting up For Sale due to relocating to Ireland. This low Millage (61500miles) Mercedes Sports car is becoming a Mercedes Classic with many people starting to view them as collectors if in great condition. I bought this car last year and would love to keep it as absolutely love driving it, the 5.0V8 engine is incredibly power full and incredibly smooth. I have carried out some repairs to it since i bought it which are common on these models:
1) Alternator and Serpentine Belt & Idler & pulley replaced 2) Engine & Gearbox serviced with new oil & filters 3) Convertible roof Hydraulic cylinders removed and replaced as they are common for leakage 4) Repaired brocken vacuum pipes in central locking system 5) Replaced Broken center dash Air vent controls The car comes as Standard with the AMG 2 Kit, that includes the AMG Alloys Bumpers & side skirts. The seats are in great condition with no rips or tears, the drivers seat has some light wear, cracking of the leather from getting in and out but the cushions and bolsters have not lost their original shape. It comes with factory extras such as Xenon Head lights, Heated seats, Auto dimming Mirrors, Garage/Gate opening/close function and factory built in phone kit, although the phone system is obviously very out of date in regards to technology. Comes with factory Hard top which is also in very good condition. Comes with OEM windscreen Sun Deflector and aftermarket canvas car cover The paintwork is in great condition with no signs of paintwork discolour and no Lacquer deterioration, there are a few little light scratches and a few little stone chips but no more than you could expect on 13 year old car. the Vin number is WDBFA68F61F195960. The Carfax is clean and on inspection shows that earlier in its life there was significant repairs carried out by Mercedes while still under warranty, for example a new gearbox and ECU with remapping and Diagnostics completed showing the repairs to be successful. I have put approximately 4000miles on this vehicle since buying it last year, the car fax shows prior to that it has had 3 private owners and then shows 3 commercial owners, in other word dealers and at one point an Liquidation company, i assumed a previous owner had gone bankrupt and the car was taken as an asset. The tyres are in good shape however are probably about 3/4 worn, if i was to keep it i would have been aiming to change then in approximately another 5000mile time. Brakes are the same, so unless you plan on doing high miles you wont have to do anything but drive and enjoy this amazing car for another year or 2. I am asking $16950.00 for this car as it is my pride and joy and is ready to drive with no expense other than re registering in your name. It is a great car and who ever is lucky enough to own it next will enjoy every minute of it. |

Smart brand might be doomed
Thu, Oct 25 2018Reports are painting a less than rosy picture of the Smart brand's future. The Daimler-owned carmaker is going fully electric in 2020, but that might not be enough to keep it alive for long. Inside sources, quoted by Automobile Magazine, are saying Renault is likely to pull out of the partnership that created the current Smart ForTwo/Renault Twingo pairing introduced in 2014. The two rear-engined cars share a platform, and when the current Twingo is done for, Renault might want to part ways. In addition, Mercedes isn't willing to prop up Smart on its own, and there is a possibility that the entire Smart brand could be shuttered by 2026. A previous joint venture was the ForFour hatch co-developed with Mitsubishi, and despite the ForFour name living on in the current generation rear-engined car, the earlier FWD hatchback has quickly been forgotten. Not long ago, Smart presented its Forease open-top concept to give customers a glimpse of what future Smart cars would look like, but at its heart the Forease was still a current Smart dressed up with concept car details. The next-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class is to be signed off in 2021 for a 2025 introduction, and it can be underpinned by a more flexible, fully scalable platform that could also serve to support a new entry-level Mercedes-Benz vehicle that could render the separate Smart brand pointless. Then there's Geely, who now owns nearly 10 percent of Daimler, and who is partnering with Daimler to launch a new "premium" ride-hailing venture in China. As Geely develops its mobility solutions, it is likely to keep an eye on Smart: Smart cars have been car-sharing staples around the world for quite a while, from users such as Car2Go. Automobile Magazine says that if a Smart is co-developed with Geely, it might suit the Chinese market well, but a global business case might be challenging. In any case, if Smart wants to survive beyond the current Renault partnership, the new model should be agreed upon quickly, and it must be based on a platform flexible enough to support full electric drive. Reportedly, there are now ongoing feasibility studies for a fully electric Daimler "U-Class," which would include a Smart-like three or five-door hatch with two wheelbase options, a ride-sharing shuttle with autonomous capabilities, and an urban delivery panel van. But Smart must justify itself for the upcoming decades, or the future Daimler products that occupy its niche will be wearing a three-pointed star instead.
Autoblog fan favorite car ads from Super Bowl XLIX
Mon, Feb 2 2015Super Bowl XLIX is in the books, and the New England Patriots emerged victorious. Of course, if you're like us, the big game wasn't so much about the battle between the east coast and west, so much as a fight between the world's automotive advertisers. We collected and collated all of last night's new ads and put them together for you to vote on. And yes, we're limiting this year's contest to last night's new features. That's why you aren't seeing Dodge's epic Wisdom among our collection of commercials, and it's a similar story with Chevrolet's Truck Guy Focus Group series, which highlights the new Colorado. You can still vote for your favorites. We won't be closing the voting on our Super Bowl page, so while the winners and losers are correct as of this writing, it's entirely possible that there could be some changes in the rankings as time goes on. So, without any further ado, here are the winning ads based on your voting. Nissan: With Dad Fiat: Ready For Action Jeep: Beautiful Lands BMW: Newfangled Idea Mercedes-Benz: Fable NASCAR: America Start Your Engines As for those ads that failed to impact you, loyal readers, Toyota was the absolute, undisputed loser. The Japanese brand ran four ads in total – two for Toyota and two for Lexus – and all of them have negative tallies as of this writing. Lexus' Make Some Noise and Lets Play and Toyota's One Bold Choice and My Bold Dad both had very weak showings among the commercials that aired, although they weren't alone. Neither Mazda nor Kia scored particularly well, despite featuring celebrity magic act Penn and Teller and former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, respectively. Chevrolet was the winner of the losers, as of our writing, recording the fewest downvotes for its audience-punking The Big Game ad. If you want to take a second look at the losing ads, you can head back to our Super Bowl page for the complete collection. But for now, head into Comments and let us know what you think of the results.
2020 Aston Martin DB11 tops this month's list of discounts
Thu, May 7 2020When we drove the Aston Martin DB11 for the first time, we said that it "stands out" and that "it delivers on the promise of Aston's potential for a successful second century." But we also said, "There must be a reason to buy the Aston beyond the fact that it turns heads at the country club." In case its stunning good looks and 600-horsepower 5.2-liter twin-turbo V8 weren't enough to grab your attention, how about a discount of nearly $20,000? Right now, buyers of the 2020 Aston Martin DB11 are paying, on average, $182,435. According to data provided to Autoblog from Truecar, that's a discount of $19,385 from the British coupe's average suggested retail price of $201,820. That's the largest discount on a new car in America this month, based on the dollar amount off the car's sticker price. The next biggest discount is for the 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Buyers of the German brand's range-topper are scoring an average discount of $13,816. While that's a much smaller number than the DB11, it represents 13.5% off the S-Class's average retail price of $101,151 versus the 9.6% discount of the Aston Martin. In fact, the Benz's percentage discount means it's the eighth-best deal in America overall. If you favor a different flavor of German luxury, the 2019 Audi A8 isn't far behind with an average discount of $12,701 representing 12.5% of its $101,762 average sticker.
