560sl 1987 Convertible With Hard Top on 2040-cars
Staten Island, New York, United States
A CLASSIC BEAUTY....... Great Beautiful Super Clean Condition. Runs great , STRONG, and reliable.... ALL ORIGINAL. Paint is original and well maintained, MINT SHINE..... Only 89K miles. These cars can hit 300k easy. BEAUTIFUL through and through ...NO RUST. The pictures serves no justice. Better in person. If you want more pics I can send them. ALL TUNED UP Recently upgraded Nardi Steering wheel and sports 5 star " AMG look like Rims". see last 3 picture of Rim. This is what is presently on the car. LOOKS AEWSOME. Rims shown in pictures are the original set and are in great mint condition. Have all original parts. You will get both sets of RIMS. Both sets of Rims are in MINT condition. Past summer replaced timing chain, tension control, guide rails, rocker arms, Engine plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, transmission tune up. All fluids...Nardi Steering wheel, Sports "AMG like " rims , wood trim....Spent over $4,000.00 . Tires are in great shape. Still have lots of rubber on them (only about 2k miles on them) Leather seats are in great shape. Hard top is like new and the only issue with the hard top is the trim on the driver's side is slightly bent. The trim I'm referring to is the "J" shape trim that sits on the car when on (just under the side window). It is really not noticeable, but i had to point it out. I can take a picture to show you. PIECE OF MIND NOTE: The Timing Chain and Guide Rails and rocker arms are done. This alone was $2,800.00 and I got a good deal. This type of maintence can run upto $4,000.00. I was fortunate to have a friend who is a MB mechanic. This is one maintenance you need to perform on any 560sl even with only 10,000 miles on it. WHY? "because of age". The guide rails are made of hard plastic and it is vulnerable to brake with age alone. And a broken guide rail while in motion can be devastating to the engine. This is one area you have a piece of mind with if purchasing this car . Something to think about....... Educate yourself when purchasing any classic car with the mechanics. Every pedigree has something you need to watch out for and the TIMING CHAIN and GUIDE RAILS is a must maintence on the R107 models. However, the 560sl is the best of of all r107 models because it has a double chain and higher horse power. This is a Great running car and reliable. No need to do a thing for years.. ..... Only "minor issue" noted in car fax is accident in rear bumper in 1991 with prior owner. No body damage or frame. Rear bumper was replaced only. Note: There is presently no air bag. I had to disconnect the air bag inorder to install the Nardi Steering wheel but the original can easily be reinstalled. You will also get the original Steering wheel with airbag and shifter. Nardi wood grain steering wheels have a clasic beautiful look so there is no air bag in the steering wheel. The nardi steering wheel is made from African Mahogany. Steering Wheel alone was $700.00. You will not be disappointed. Always Garaged Kept and under the covers. Location of car is in Staten Island NY. Ask for Sal - 917-679-6986 |

Meet the Greenest and Meanest vehicles of 2016
Wed, Jan 27 2016If you've been keeping track, you won't be surprised with the number one entry in this year's list of greenest cars from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). In fact, the top three spots on the 2016 list are all the same as they were in 2015. After that, things get interesting. For one thing, this is the first Greenest list that doesn't have any purely internal combustion engine powertrain on it. Hybrids, yes, but if you want to be one of the top 12 greenest cars this year, you'd better have some sort of electric angle. ACEEE says that the conventional, gas-powered Smart Fortwo and Chevrolet Spark just missed the cut. In a statement, ACEEE lead vehicle analyst Shruti Vaidyanathan said, "The 2016 scores are in, and plug-in electric vehicles are outpacing all other vehicle offerings in terms of environmental friendliness." Like last year, one of the noticeable vehicles missing from the green list is the Tesla Model S. One reason? ACEEE takes curb weight into account (lighter is better), and the Model S is a heavy beast. The ACEEE doesn't just look at the clean side of the ledger. It also puts out a "meanest" list. These are the vehicles that pollute the most, not only from their tailpipes, but also any pollution created during the entire manufacturing process, from mining the raw materials to the energy used to produce the vehicle at the factory. The entire list, from greenest to meanest, is done using a "cradle to grave" analysis. You can see how the ACEEE determines its rankings here, explore the entire greenest cars site here, or click through our galleries to see which vehicles are extra green (above) or extra mean (below) this year. 12: Mercedes-Benz GL550 4MATIC View 12 Photos More Electric Cars than Ever on Greenest Vehicles List Electric Vehicles Nab 9 out of Top 12 Spots in ACEEE's Environmental Vehicle Rankings Washington, DC: Despite a tumultuous year for the automotive industry, manufacturers have continued to offer exciting technology options for a growing vehicle market. Today at greenercars.org, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) released its 19th annual comprehensive environmental ratings for vehicles. The following vehicles comprise the Greenest List for 2016: Greenest Score 1. Mercedes-Benz Smart ForTwo Electric Drive Convertible / Coupe 63 2. Chevrolet Spark EV 63 3. Fiat 500E 62 4. Toyota Prius Eco 61 5. Volkswagen E-Golf 61 6. Nissan Leaf S / Leaf SV 61 7. Kia Soul Electric 59 8.
Recharge Wrap-up: KillaJoule hits 270 mph; Mercedes B-Class ED gets PlugShare
Wed, Sep 24 2014The Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive will get its own version of the PlugShare charging-station locator app. Developed by Recargo with the help of Daimler, the vehicle-specific app will be integrated into the car's navigation system. The system maps the location of nearby charging stations from various networks. So far, Mercedes-Benz doesn't offer a universal pay service for the various charging networks, like those offered by BMW and Nissan. Read more at Green Car Reports. HyperSolar uses solar energy to make hydrogen from water. Without using electrolyzers, HyperSolar uses a photochemical process to separate and capture the hydrogen in the water, which can then be used for clean energy, such as automotive fuel cells. The solar devices are submerged in water inside a container, and sunlight powers the device to free the hydrogen. HyperSolar claims that its process is more efficient and cost effective than other methods used to produce hydrogen from water. See some demonstrations in the videos below and learn more at HyperSolar's website. Eva Hakansson drove the KillaJoule electric motorcycle to a top speed of 270.224 miles per hour. After a computer model showed a possibility of about 270 mph, the team took the motorcycle with sidecar out to the salt flats for Mike Cook's Shootout. Everything went smoothly, and Hakansson easily surpassed speeds of the 249.1-mph world record she set a few weeks ago. The team is calling it quits for the season, but will make some tweaks to the KillaJoule in hopes of getting 300 mph out of the red bullet next year. Why we can't have better headlights here in the U.S.
Tue, Mar 13 2018It wouldn't be a European auto show if we weren't teased with at least one mainstream vehicle we can't have here. At the Geneva Motor Show last week, the small but vocal contingent of shooting-brake buffs lamented that the Mazda6 wagon won't be coming to our shores, although they can take comfort in the fact that the vehicle won't get the torquey 250-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine we'll get here. Mercedes-Benz also announced a new headlight technology in Geneva that likely won't be available here anytime soon. It's just the latest in a long line of innovative and potentially lifesaving front-lighting solutions that the federal government doesn't allow in this country due to outdated standards — and a current lack of leadership at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Mercedes-Benz's new Digital Light system that debuted in Geneva uses a computer chip to activate more than a million micro-reflectors to better illuminate the road ahead. The Digital Light headlamps works with the vehicle's cameras, sensors and navigation mapping to adjust lighting for the given location and situation and to detect other road users. The Digital Light technology also serves as an extended head-up display of sorts by projecting symbols on the pavement ahead to alert drivers to, say, slippery conditions or pedestrians in the road. And it can even project lines on the road in a construction zone or through tight curves to show the driver the correct path. Digital Light will be available on Mercedes-Maybach vehicles later this year, although like any technology it's bound to trickle down to less expensive vehicles. That is, if we ever get it here in the U.S. Audi, a leader in automotive lighting, has repeatedly run into snags trying to bring state-of-the-art car headlights to the U.S. The German luxury automaker's recently introduced matrix laser headlight system, which performs many of the same trick as Mercedes-Benz's Digital Light, also isn't legal on U.S. roads. And five years after the introduction of its matrix-beam LED lighting, which illuminates more of the road without blinding oncoming motorists with brights by simultaneously operating high and low beams, Audi still can't bring that technology to the U.S. either.
