EXTERIOR

Originally Dolphin Gray color, it was re-sprayed red by the previous owner.

The paint is presentable and has lots of shine but there is overspray on some

of the chrome. The only areas that I see rust on

the car is below the passenger side rear quarter panel below the gas

Cap lid area, about 2 inches long x .38 wide. The front passenger front

fender close to the headlight assy there are 4 small bubbles about 1/8 in diameter.

The rest of the body is very straight, the gap on the doors to

rear quarter panels to the trunk are perfect.

The canvas top is in excellent condition…! The rear plastic windows

Are clear and not yellow or faded. The rear bumper chorme blade

The chrome is peeling off. Please view photos carefuly.

There is a small scratch on the front driver side front fender as

Shown in one of the photos. Also there are some scratches in the area

Where the hard top sits on the car.

The chrome wheels are aftermarket and are in good condition.

The tires have about 50% of thread on them.

INTERIOR

As I observe the interior the leather seats are clean and there

Are no tears on them. The door panels are very clean and the

Chrome on the handles is nice. The carpets are very presentable

The carpet on the middle console has some stains on them.

The dash has been cover with an after market cover and there

Are 2 small cracks on the dash close to where the windshield

Meets the dash. The car heater works great and the RPM, speedometer,

signal lights, horn, high beams low beams, brake

Lights, temperature gauge are in good working order.

The instruments lights on the speedometer cluster are

 not working.

The power window switches are in good working order…!

The car has an after market keyless entry alarm that is

In great working condition.

ENGINE BAY

The engine has great power on the highway, the brakes were recently

Replaced by the previous owner. The rear back interior carpet is in

Great condition. The car comes with an aftermarket AM/FM CD Player

In good working order. The power antenna works well but it not chrome finish.

TRUNK AREA

The trunk area is clean and there is only a small area of surface

Rust where the spare tire sits, about 1 inch long, the side inner panels are not

rusted. The car is missing the tool bag kit.

BOTTOM OF THE CAR

As I looked carefully on the under carriage of the car I did not see ANY RUST

on it. Very solid car…!

The hard top is in excellent condition but again there is some overspray on some of

the aluminum trim pieces. The car has a brand new catalytic converter as well as a

new bosch oxygen sensor.

This car comes with a California, clean title and also a new smog certificate to register

the car if the car is sold here in California.

Mercedes takes VW Westfalia Camper idea upscale with new Marco Polo

Wed, 09 Jul 2014

Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz revealed the new V-Class. Slotting in below the popular Sprinter, the new V-Class replaced both the Viano and Vito upon its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. But Mercedes isn't quite done with it just yet. At the upcoming Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany, Mercedes will reveal the Marco Polo - a versatile, stylish and decidedly contemporary take on the classic camper van.
Named after the famous Italian explorer, the Marco Polo was converted by Westfalia, an outfit which you might more closely associate with classic VW camper vans but which Daimler absorbed over a decade ago. Offering, according to the press release below, "a maximum of opportunities to be independent, free and spontaneous," the Marco Polo sleeps four thanks to the rear bench that electrically folds flat into a bed and the second berth under the pop-top. The flexible interior is decked out like you'd expect a modern Mercedes to be, with ambient LED lighting as well as wood, metal and piano black trim.
It's got an onboard kitchenette with two gas burners, a sink and fridge with a 10 gallons of fresh water and an even bigger waste tank. All that gear is shlepped around by a choice of four-cylinder turbodiesel engines ranging in output from 136 to 190 horsepower. The relatively compact form boasts a turning circle similar to a full-size sedan and a height designed to fit into most garages and car washes. All of which just might make us reconsider the appeal of traveling by camper van.

Porsche tops JD Power APEAL study for 12th time

Wed, Jul 27 2016

JD Power's 2016 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) study hasn't changed much this time around with Porsche coming in at No.1 for the 12th consecutive year, while BMW was close behind in second. Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz tied for third with Land Rover, Lexus, and Lincoln tied for No.5. The APEAL Study, according to JD Power, measures owners' level of excitement and emotional attachment across 77 parameters. Brands and cars are rated on a 1,000-point scale. The study found that new cars with modern safety features including low speed collision avoidance and blind spot monitoring have higher APEAL scores than vehicles without the features. The overall industry score increased from 798 to 801, which JD Power claims was helped by the launch of a variety of new vehicles. This year, 22 out of 30 new or redesigned cars received a higher score than the vehicle's respective segment average. Porsche is once again at the top of the list as the automaker's score increased by three points to 877. BMW outscored Jaguar to take second place with a score of 859, while the British automaker dropped three points from last year with 852 points. Volkswagen overtook Mini to become the top-ranked non-premium brand with 809 points, while the latter automaker trailed behind by one point. At the end of the scale, Smart came in at the very bottom for the second year in a row with a score of 745 points, which represents an increase of 62 points over last year. Fiat's score increased by six points to 755, but still confined the automaker to second-to-worst place for a consecutive year. Mitsubishi's score increased to 770, up from 755, to become the fourth-worst brand, while Jeep fell to third-worst with a decrease in seven points to 756. General Motors received six segment-level awards, followed by Hyundai with five, and BMW and VW earning four apiece. Surprise segment victories include the Chevrolet Camaro, which outscored the Dodge Challenger, and the Lexus RC which ranked above the BMW 4 and 3 Series. For more information on how the automakers ranked, check out the official release on the 2016 APEAL Study below or visit JD Power's website to analyze the graphs. Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold

Wed, 08 Feb 2012

Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
