We are the second owners of this 2008 Mercedes Benz CLS550 with the AMG Sport Package. We purchased the car from a dealer in Houston. It has a set of Mandrus 19"x8" / 19X9.5" custom wheels that provide an individual look and a more aggressive stance with improved handling. Original MB center caps are on wheels. The tires are Khumo Ventus 255x40x19" in front and 285x35x19' on the rear. It was a daily driver for my wife - essentially to and from work plus a couple of road trips thrown in. It's been exclusively serviced at Mercedes Benz of Austin since we've owned it (Sept 2011) and has just had its major service - so it's up to date on all services. We are selling it and another car to make room for a new SUV we have our eyes on. It's been well maintained, washed / detailed frequently and in very good condition - there is currently nothing wrong with the vehicle.

As stated on the condition report, there are three minor paint imperfections that I've included in pictures. They could easily be repaired for under $500 if you would like to make the paint perfect. The interior is flawless - non smoker, and has all of the options including NAV, Sirius XM and park distance.

The mileage may change of course as we're continuing to drive the car. Also, it will be for sale locally, so we reserve the right to end the auction early. Payment terms will be a $500 deposit on Paypal, and wire transfer of funds only upon final purchase, and before delivery. We have access to delivery companies if you would like help there, all delivery costs to be paid for by buyer. We do not have the original wheels. Clean Carfax / Auto Check.

Experience the New York Auto Show by drone

The Autoblog team recently returned from wildly running around the Javits Center to cover all the news and debuts at the New York Auto Show. Sometimes, it's nice to take a more serene look at the exhibition floor, though, and the event's organizers are providing that exact opportunity by flying a drone through the hall. Combined with the down-tempo music, this clip feels like a form of automotive meditation. If you're going to miss the show in the Big Apple, the drone also provides a good overview at the exhibition floor, especially at the stands from Lexus, Buick, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and BMW. Plus, it's a fun way to see some vehicles from a completely different angle than they ever appear on the road. Online Find of the Day: Lexus-engined Mercedes pickup is a vintage hybrid

You have to love someone who gets incredibly committed to a very weird idea. What you see for sale here is a right-hand drive 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220D in South Africa, but this old Mercedes is now converted into a pickup, complete with bed cover, and there's big secret under the hood, too.
The pickup conversion appears well done based on seller Sedgefield Classic Cars' photos. Even the tonneau cover fits well. You could almost believe that this Mercedes lived its life as a Chevrolet El Camino-like pickup from the very beginning.
However, the rear-quarters conversion might not be the weirdest thing about this Mercedes. The original diesel is gone from the engine bay in favor of a Lexus V8. It seems really odd to pop the hood and find a Japanese mill in this German car, but the photos make it look like a fairly well performed swap. So, bravo to the crazy thinking. According to the seller speaking to Autoblog by email, "as far as we can establish, this was done a few years ago, with all Lexus components."

Ferrari, Mercedes selling cars with faulty Takata airbags

According to the US Senate, a small group of automakers are still selling new cars with faulty Takata airbags. Automotive News reports that Ferrari's entire lineup and various Mercedes-Benz vehicles come with faulty airbags and are subject to being recalled by the end of 2018. US Senator Bill Nelson, (D-FL), claims the affected Ferrari models include: the 2016 to 2017 FF, California T, F12 Berlinetta, F12 TdF, 488 GTB, 488 Spider, and GTC4 Lusso. Mercedes-Benz is also in the mix with the 2016 Sprinter and 2016 to 2017 E-Class Coupe and Convertible. Automotive News reports that both Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz will require its dealers to notify buyers of a recall in the vehicles' future. The National Highway traffic Safety Administration claims the vehicles are legal to be sold, as the airbags are safe until exposed to high humidity for a significant period of time. With the majority of Ferrari drivers storing their vehicles in temperature-controlled garages, this shouldn't be troubling news. What is troubling, however, is that seven out of 17 automakers that Senator Nelson contacted admitted to putting defective Takata airbags into its new cars. Volkswagen, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and Toyota are a few automakers that still use Takata's faulty airbags. All have agreed to notify buyers of future recalls.
