2003 Mercedes-benz Cl55 Amg Coupe, 500hp Supercharged V8, Low Miles, $115k New! on 2040-cars
Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States
“Think Arnold Schwarzenegger in an Armani tuxedo. A confident head-turner, with a hint of the formidable muscle underneath the beautiful tailoring. That's the CL55 AMG.” – Motor Trend Video Link: http://youtu.be/lmxc1nV2aMQ If you’re in the market for power and precision, look no further than this car: a low-mileage 2003 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG Coupe. With the upgraded AMG hand-built engine, drivetrain, and suspension, this model is one of kind – German engineering at its finest. In 2003, the base model CL55 retailed at $114,600. It was also one of the first production cars to challenge the 500hp threshold. Over a decade old now, this car surprisingly has performance and comforts to match the luxury sports cars today. Underneath the sleek bonnet lurks monster muscle: a Supercharged 5.5L V8 front-mounted engine producing 493hp through the rear wheels. The engine is not governed on this model and can reach speeds of 180mph. Finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic over Charcoal Leather and Walnut Wood Trim, all you’ll see is a blur at zero to 60 in 4.27 seconds. This CL55 offers 5-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. It also has Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, which eliminates all body roll in turns through sophisticated harmony of computers, sensors, and hydraulics. Again, another advanced performance technology setting the bar even higher. On top of that it provides Distronic Cruise Control (radar cruise control) and Parktronic (front and rear parking sensors). This car truly was ahead of its time. Other noteworthy features include Bi-Xenon Headlamps, Power Folding Side Mirrors, Quad Chrome Tip Exhaust, Vented Disc Brakes, Power Sunroof, 18in AMG Alloy Wheels, Power Closing Doors, Power Trunk, Heated/Air Cooled/Massaging Front Seats with 14-Way Power, Bose Stereo System, COMMAND Display Screen with Navigation, 6-Disc CD Changer, Power Rear Sunshade, Dual Zone Auto Climate Control, Dual Front and Dual Rear Side-Mounted Airbags, and much more. It comes with a squeaky clean CarFax report, two sets of keys, owner’s manual, rubber and carpet floor mats, full spare with tools, and fitted car cover. This car has been proudly kept, routinely maintained, and always stored indoors. With only 58k miles, this CL55 AMG has collector car status yet worth enjoying behind the wheel. If only the Autobahn were closer… In 2003, to own this car conveyed celebrity status; there was a long waiting list at Mercedes dealerships across the country. In 2014, it could be yours at a very reasonable price. If the stylish AMG lines do not hook you, one flex of the pedal will. Please contact me with any and all questions. This vehicle is being offered for sale through Garage Kept Motors, LLC. Listing may be taken down early due to local sale. |

Daimler, BMW partnering up on wireless charging
Tue, Jul 15 2014Plug-in vehicle advocates can get all warm and fuzzy about two Germany heavyweight automakers getting together for the sake of wireless charging. That's because Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler and BMW will work together to speed up development of a wireless charging system. While not a ton of details were divulged, we can still rejoice. Daimler says the system will consist of an on-board coil and another coil that can be placed within the garage floor or someplace similarly stationary. The system will charge at 3.6 kilowatts and with 90 percent efficiency. No details were released about the system's price or when it would be available, but Daimler shouldn't wait too long, since other OEMs are already talking about their own wireless charging systems. Daimler obviously has some skin in the game here, since Mercedes-Benz will start sales of its S500 plug-in hybrid in September. That model, which was first shown off last August at the Frankfurt Auto Show, can go as far as 20 miles on electric power alone and will get fuel economy of about 84 miles per gallon equivalent. And it's easy to imagine an i3 or i8 driver getting a kick out of never needing to touch a cord. This spring, reports sprung up that fellow German automaker Volkswagen was preparing a wireless charging option for its electric vehicles as soon as 2017. You can check out Daimler's press release below. Wireless charging of electric drive and plug-in hybrid vehicles: PLUG IN HYBRID - unplugged One of the next steps on the way to perfect electric drive and plug-in hybrid vehicles is wireless charging. Daimler and BMW have now agreed on jointly developing and implementing one common technology. Wireless charging of the battery will make the handling of electric drive and plug-in hybrid vehicles even easier. Mercedes-Benz will commence fleet testing of this "unplugged" technology with the S 500 Plug in HYBRID soon, in order to develop a real S-Class solution in recharging the high voltage battery in terms of comfort and ease of operating in the near future. The system consists of two components: a secondary coil integrated into the under tray of the car and a primary coil integrated into a floor plate that can be placed on a garage floor for instance. Electrical energy is transmitted contact-free without the need for a cable, at a power rate of 3.6 kW and with a degree of efficiency of 90%.
Mercedes caught testing stretched E-Class Maybach
Fri, Aug 21 2015The Mercedes-Maybach S600 won't be the only vehicle to wear the hyphenated name of two of the world's automotive luxury greats. That hulking S-Class will soon be joined by an E-Class variant, which should offer the same touch of subtle luxury as its big brother. At least, that's what we're guessing based on the latest round of spy photos, showing a stretched E-Class with some very telling camouflage. Pay attention, as our spies did, to the rear doors and C-pillar. Like the Maybach S600, the E-Class model features a larger quarter window, although unlike the S, the doors here look to be a bit larger than your usual E550 or E250. Also take note of the heavy tint on those rear windows. It's likely there to obscure whatever sumptuous hides and warm woods Maybach has fitted to the typically business-class interior. While the interior materials are likely to see sweeping changes, expect Mercedes to treat the exterior with a much gentler touch. There'll probably be some unique wheels and C-pillar-mounted Maybach badges, like what we've already seen on the S600. Check out the full round of spy photos up top, and stay tuned for more on the latest Mercedes-Maybach. Related Video:
Mercedes GLC spotted nearly nude ahead of tomorrow's reveal
Wed, Jun 17 2015Mercedes is set to officially take the wraps off its new GLC-Class crossover tomorrow, but if you can't wait that long, here it is all but completely undisguised. The GLC, for those just joining us, is the replacement for the GLK, rounder and renamed to align more closely with the C-Class. It was previewed as a slant-roofed concept in Shanghai, but as you can see, it'll reach production with a more conventional greenhouse. Rooflines (and various show-car details) aside, the production GLC looks pretty close to the aforementioned Concept GLC Coupe. Certain elements on this pre-production unit still remain taped up to keep from our prying eyes – though the engineer driving it doesn't seem to mind. We can at least hope that rather ungainly looking chrome lower rear bumper element is just there to throw us off, or will look more convincing as part of a complete package. But we'll be finding out one way or another tomorrow... so watch this space. Related Video:
