On 2/15/2003, I paid $100 to have the car detailed, so its's very clean inside.

Why am I selling?
I just bought a new car and decided to sell private rather than get screwed by dealer. :)

Condition of vehicle?

-Vehicle is in good condition according to KBB. Valued at $6,361 for good condition and $5,386 for fair condition.  The car is in between good and fair.

Good Condition Per KBB
"54% of all cars we value meet this criteria. This car is free of major mechanical problems but may need some reconditioning. Its paint and bodywork may require minor touch-ups, with repairable cosmetic defects, and its engine compartment may have minor leaks. There are minor body scratches or dings and minor interior blemishes, but no rust. The tires match and have 50% or more of tread. It also has a clean title history, with some service records available, and will pass safety and smog inspection."

What's wrong with it and why are you selling?

There are 0 major mechanical problems that I'm aware. I used an ODB II scanner to check for any stored codes/problems. There were 0 and car show green(pass) on the scanner for emissions test.
The car runs great. In the 4 years I have had the car, other than general maintenance, I have only had to replace the crankshaft sensor and the battery. ( I have most of the maintenance receipts if you would like to see those. )

There are some minor cosmetic issues, non that affect the drive of the car.

There are a few minor cosmetic issues on interior ( common wear and tear)
- There is some paint fading on the rear driver side quarter panel. and some paint chips on the back pumper(Shown in picture and video)
- The door handle on the driver side partially pops out when you open and close the door. Does not effect opening closing or locking the door. (Likely needs a new door handle)
- The driver side recline works sporadically. So if your going to move the seat a lot or have multiple drivers, you may need to get a new motor that reclines the seat. (The seat moves up and down and forward and back just fine.)  I rarely change the recline so it's not a big deal to me at all and it's just sometime it doesn't work.

This has been a very dependable car and I'm honestly a little sad to see it go, it was my first luxury car and I tried to take care of it.

Petrolicious relives history with Stirling Moss and his Mercedes SLR

Wed, May 13 2015

We take it as a given that lap records will keep getting beaten. That's just the way things work: the development of racing cars proceeds at breakneck speeds, dwindling lap times down over the ages. Not at the Mille Miglia, though. The legendary Sir Stirling Moss won the famous Italian race together with journalist Denis Jenkinson in 1955, recording an almost unfathomable average speed of nearly 98 miles per hour in the Mercedes 300 SLR bearing the number 722 – the inspiration behind the extreme SLR McLaren Stirling Moss edition speedster that debuted seven years ago. Nobody (not even Moss himself) managed to beat that time in the subsequent two years before the race was shut down for good. It was only revived decades later as an historic rally that's more about consistency and, by its nature, doesn't put that record in contention. This year's event is coming up soon, so the cinematographical artisans at Petrolicious caught up with Moss and that legendary SLR – perfectly preserved as it has been by Mercedes – for a drive down memory lane.

Daimler CEO Zetsche answers 'Most likely' to question of a Maybach SUV

Fri, Jan 16 2015

When Dieter Zetsche was asked about the possibility of getting Maybach, the reimagined Mercedes-Benz ultra-luxury sub-brand, into the premium SUV game, the Daimler CEO reportedly told Auto Express, "Most likely." Those two little words aren't a firm answer – let alone an indication of timing – but we wouldn't be shocked to find out Mercedes is already working on one. Range Rover has gone even more upscale, the Bentley Bentayga is coming this year, as will the Maserati Levante. Rolls-Royce is deciding on an SUV this year (we think it's only a matter of time before they say "yes"), the Lamborghini Urus is still expected in 2018, Aston Martin is raising funds to build a crossover, and there have been rumors of a BMW X7 and Audi Q9 for years. Point being, everyone is busy writing their own invite to this ultra posh party. The latest comments would appear to put to rest any will-they/won't-they questions around a high-riding Maybach offering. There were rumors last summer that a GL-Class SUV (a model range shortly to be known as GLS-Class) with revamped styling and lots of luxury touches would join the top-tier sub-brand, but then in November, Mercedes' global head of sales and marketing told Automotive News, "I don't want to categorically rule anything out, but at this stage we have no plans for it [a Maybach SUV]." If and when a Maybach utility does become official, we'll only be picking up where we left off with the brand's previous incarnation: a GL-based Maybach was rumored way back in 2007. German carmakers recall 630,000 diesel vehicles in Europe

Fri, Apr 22 2016

Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, and Volkswagen will recall over 630,000 cars in Europe, according to reports Friday. No diesel car has been able to get under the legal emissions limit in real-world driving, according to a German government investigation. While only Volkswagen Group has been using a specific "defeat device", other carmakers have been playing with their exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. Depending of the manufacturer, the systems have been cut off at a certain temperature. In a specific test cycle the systems operate to fulfill the legal requirements, but in everyday use the limits are exceeded. According to the magazine Der Spiegel, the supplier Bosch is behind this programming and has provided it to all German automakers. The mentioned carmakers have announced recalls, but many other manufacturers are also mentioned by name in the report, including Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Dacia, Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Nissan, Renault, and Suzuki. PSA Group, which produces Peugeot, Citroen, and DS cars, declared yesterday that its offices were raided following an emissions investigation.
