We love this car, however recent changes to our fleet provide you a great opportunity to get a great car at a good price.  We bought this car new, and have treated it kindly, gently and kept it in perfect condition.  Always garaged, serviced, cleaned and kept in perfect running condition.  Everything works perfectly as it should, recent brakes and tires have about 6,000 miles on them...near new.  Mobil 1 synthetic oil, always.  Driven conservatively, the mileage is great, 25-30 in town, and 35 or better on the highway.  Just for the fun of it, I challenged myself to determine the maximum mileage on a run to Tyler,TX and back one day...200 miles roundtrip, 42.8 MPG.  Obviously I was working at it, not running the A/C and keeping it under 65, but hey, it can be done.  This car is a blast to drive, supercharged, 6spd, excellent handling and legendary Mercedes brakes.  Totally safe and secure.  Airbags for everyone, front and side.  But we've never used them! Small size is great around Dallas, easy to park, and the doors swing wide when you have lots of room.  Optional HID Xenon headlights - best headlights I have ever had on any car, ever, including our new 2013 BMW.  All luxury options, heated seats, power memory seats (both sides - steering wheel and mirrors integrated into your personal setting), Leather seats and trim, lovely burled wood trim, lighted convenience mirrors, etc.  Even the genuine Mercedes car specific rubber floor mats. Totally clean - no stains, tears, rips or excuses about sun damage.  No dogs, cats, smokers or sticky fingered kids, ever.  This is our run around town car - split rear seats fold down and the parcel shelf is removable for those inevitable Home Depot or Costco trips.  8ft 2x4's, no problem. (actually better than 9ft hardwood no problem).  Large bales of PeatMoss and plants from the Nursery, no problem.  Forget a bike rack, pop the front wheel off your bike and pop it in the back. Going Skiing?  2 pairs of skis, boots, poles helmets, no problem along with a weeks worth of luggage, groceries and my wife.  Great car, great price.  Edmunds.com says $7,443 private sale, KellyBlueBook KBB.com says $7,963-8,288.  Dealer retail is a heck of a lot higher...Listing at $7,200?  That's gotta be fair.

Mercedes was set to sell version of Nissan Titan, now Infiniti might instead

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Mercedes-Benz Titan. Mercedes-Benz Frontier. Mercedes-Benz pickup truck. None of these things roll off the tongue particularly well. We'd like to think that's the reason Daimler opted to kill the idea of rebadged Titan and Frontier pickups from corporate ally Nissan. In reality, the execution before the Frankfurt Motor Show was due to more complicated issues.
Yes, Mercedes, byword for German luxury, style and quality, would have slapped a three-pointed star on a pair of Japanese pickup trucks that have failed to resonate with consumers in the world's largest truck market. That slapping of badges isn't much of an exaggeration, at least on the outside. According to the report from Road & Track, the truck's front clip would have been tweaked, but beyond that, the sheetmetal would have been unchanged. The interior would have received a more thorough going-over by the team at Mercedes, while the suspension and noise, vibration and harshness tuning would have also received significant attention.
The trucks would have ended up being sold through the light-commercial branch of Mercedes-Benz - the same folks that will happily sell you a Sprinter van - had the deal gone through. Issues arose, though, first with the engines. Mercedes wanted a wider range of powertrains to allow it to tune models for specific markets, while Nissan said it couldn't engineer the wide variety of engines that MB wanted to drop under the hood. For the smaller truck, meanwhile, MB was interested in a hybrid or plug-in variant, according to R&T, although this was also shot down by Nissan.

Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 teases gullwing doors in video

Tue, Aug 16 2016

Because these are the times we live in, automakers tease their biggest and best debuts mercilessly before finally dropping the curtain. That's why we're writing about the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Concept again. Here's a new video, posted on Mercedes' Instagram page, showing even more of the hulking two-door coupe. For one, it looks like Mercedes is revisiting gullwing doors. There's a brief snippet of the doors in the open position with a red light – possibly a brake light – bisecting the roof. The video also gives us a couple of good looks at the taillights, which are super-model skinny, just like the lamps up front. Look close at the rear three-quarter cut, and you'll spot a strong chrome strip that accentuates and breaks up those beefy rear haunches. It's hard to tell where they fit in with the chrome strips on the front fenders and hood, so we'll probably need to wait until the big debut to see how it all works out. As we've said twice already, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 debuts on August 18. Stay tuned. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Mercedes highlights dangers of counterfeit wheels

Tue, Nov 3 2015

Mercedes-Benz Australia is getting the word out that consumers need to make sure they get the real deal when purchasing auto parts. To demonstrate that concept in dramatic fashion, the company bangs an imitation and genuine wheel through a pothole at Holden's proving ground to see what happens. The results speak for themselves. While counterfeiting is often associated fashionable goods like handbags or sunglasses, it wreaks havoc on the auto industry, too. A 2007 study estimated Ford lost $1 billion a year from fake parts, and Aston Martin had to recall a huge swath of vehicles because a sub-supplier used knock-off plastic. To fight the problem here, the US government and some states have passed laws to ban counterfeit components. In this case, Mercedes uses the stunt to argue the fake parts are a safety issue Down Under. While the two wheels look practically identical at first, they definitely don't perform the same. The slow-mo footage of the impact clearly shows just how differently the pair takes the punishment, and why counterfeit wheels are such a safety issue. Related Video:
