It's time for me to downsize my collection before I lose garage space next year. I will be listing 2 Mercedes, two 442's, a Jaguar XK8 Coupe, and a Mazda RX7 Convertible. Please watch for my other listings if you are interested. All these cars have something special to offer. I will be happy to assist with any inspection or pick up by carrier. I am 45 minutes South of the Atlanta airport. Payment will be accepted by bank wire transfer, check, or cash. No vehicle will be released before all funds have cleared my bank. I have a perfect eBay rating and want to keep it that way. I ask the same from you. Please don't bid unless you have funds available to complete the transaction. All vehicles will be advertised locally, and I reserve the right to end any auction early. In fairness to all bidders, I will not disclose reserve price. Good luck!

This car was special ordered in Atlanta and taken by original owner to a second home in North Carolina. It was kept there for six years as an occasional weekend driver, then brought back to Atlanta in 2002. It was re-titled to a family member a year later, then traded in at the original selling Atlanta dealer (MRB) on an E55 in July of 2004.  I happened to be driving by the dealership that day, and bought the car as soon as MRB completed their extensive service. I have the receipt from that service showing the Sales Department being charged $1000 for this work. When I took delivery, the car had 17,306 miles. I have the Car Fax report from this time that reflects the ownership, no accidents, and mileage, as well as an odometer statement from the dealership. I have owned the car nine years, and have put seven thousand miles on her. It has been inspected on a yearly basis since then (with mileage noted), a second "A" service performed at 23,574 miles costing over $1000, another oil change 300 miles ago (always used Mobil 1), and the A/C system serviced at that same time. She has been babied, and can be driven anywhere without worries.

While I can't prove the car had never been in the rain before I bought it, any exposure to weather had to be minimal. There are still traces of the factory undercoating (cosmoline?) used to protect vehicles during the shipping process. I have always kept the car garaged, covered, and on a Battery Plus trickle charger. The original black paint still has a deep shine, the interior is perfect, the engine compartment clean, the trunk is spotless, all rubber and weather striping excellent, and she still wears the original Bridgestone tires on AMG wheels that have no curb rash. The tires still have good tread left, but are somewhat "lumpy" when first driven. This smooth's out as they heat up. I have considered replacing them, but they help show how this car has been babied all it's life. There were 338 of these cars built in 1996. The factory produced a C260, which was then sent to AMG. They removed the engine and transmission, greatly enhanced performance of both, added special ground effects, oversized AMG wheels and tires, and several discreet emblems throughout. The car was completely transformed by these changes, and has to be driven to truly appreciate the world class results.

I believe this car was ordered with every option available at the time, including climate control, leather, sunroof, heated and power seats, Bose sound system with 6 disc Alpine changer, console/armrest, ASR, alarm system, headlamp washers, power windows, ski bag pass through, passenger air bag, etc. Everything works perfectly. And yes, it has the first aid kit still in the rear window compartment, for you Mercedes specialists out there.

There are a few minor road rash nicks and such that any car picks up over 24K miles of driving, so I won't use dealer words like spotless or pristine that I see here on eBay. But I'm sure whoever buys this car will be more than happy with her. I have closely watched for any others to come up for sale in the last nine years. I have seen less than 15, and all have had over 80K miles, some as many as 125K. This tells me they were well put together, and the engines will hold up. I can't imagine there are more than a couple of other ones like this is in country, probably none. You won't be disappointed.  She needs a new home...

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet completes the luxury trinity

Wed, Sep 2 2015

In its continuing bid to simply eat the lunch of the Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes-Benz has followed up on the S-Class sedan and coupe with a new S-Class Cabriolet. Aristocrats, take notice. Below the beltline, all is familiar. That means the same stylish sheetmetal, from the chiseled front fascia to the strong character lines to the pert rear end. Expect the cabin's accommodations to mirror the hardtop model. But the third member of the S-Class family differs above the beltline, where we see a sumptuous canvas roof. The three-layered top is, unsurprisingly, quite advanced. It uses a three-layer, acoustically optimized design that promises a quiet ride. The top can be dropped or raised in under 20 seconds and at speeds of 37 miles per hour. Finally, the addition of a canvas cover doesn't do much to the S-Class' aerodynamics, as the cabriolet still returns an impressive 0.29, which compares favorably with the 0.27 of the four-door model (the coupe's CoD isn't available). Opting for the S-Class Cabriolet will entitle you to some additional standard equipment, including Mercedes' AirScarf neck heater. The droptop will also pioneer the German brand's new Thermotronic climate feature, which takes complete control of the HVAC system and makes adjustments based on the findings of 12 sensors and 18 actuators. The sensors include those for interior and exterior temperature, solar radiation, air quality, and dew point, among others. Yes, your S-Class will have a sensor for the dewpoint. Also new to the S-Class Cabriolet – not to mention the S-Class line as a whole – is a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission, which is already featured on the SLK-Class and the new GLC-Class. The new 9AT will be limited to the S550, while the new S63 Cabriolet will use the coupe's seven-speed AMG Speedshift transmission. Both engines, meanwhile, mirror their coupe counterparts, with 449 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque for the S550 and 577 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque on the AMG model, allowing the latter to hit 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 186 mph. Both the S550 cabriolet and its Mercedes-AMG counterpart will make their global debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, later this month. Read on for the full press release from Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes GLE Coupe to feature in Jurassic World

Thu, Jan 8 2015

It was back in 1997 that Mercedes first got into the crossover game with the launch of the M-Class, and most of us got our first look at the luxury high-rider when it debuted on the big screen in the Jurassic Park sequel The Lost World. It's been 18 years since that event, but now its successor is set to appear in the revival of the once-popular movie franchise. Come June 12, moviegoers will be able to catch the new Jurassic World film at their local theaters, but the dinosaurs will have to share the spotlight with the new GLE Coupe. The slant-roofed crossover that'll share its underpinnings with the M-Class' successor and challenge the BMW X6, will appear in the film in GLE 450 AMG Sport guise, and Universal Studios apparently did a good enough job keeping the Mercedes under wraps during filming until its release just a month ago. Mercedes Continues Its Decades Long Relationship with Universal: Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe launches in Universal Pictures' Jurassic World Stuttgart, Jan 08, 2015 Stuttgart. On-screen, multiple Mercedes-Benz vehicles are once again in on the Jurassic action. Twenty-two years since the events of the original film, Steven Spielberg returns to executive produce the long-awaited next installment of his groundbreaking Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World. During their adventures in the jungles of Jurassic World, the characters played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard put their trust in the off-road capabilities of various Mercedes-Benz vehicles – especially in the all-new GLE Coupe, which appears in its series-look for the first time. Colin Trevorrow directs the epic action-adventure from a screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley join the team as producers. Jurassic World will be released in 3D by Universal Pictures on June 12, 2015. The partnership continues the relationship between Universal and Mercedes-Benz, first forged in 1997's The Lost World: Jurassic Park, when Mercedes introduced the M-Class vehicle. "We are delighted to have been able to support this epic action-adventure with our vehicles," said Dr. Jens Thiemer, Head of Marketing Communications for Mercedes-Benz Cars. "Our wide range of SUVs in particular fit perfectly with Jurassic World's various requirements, with the focus on our new trendsetter, the GLE Coupe." Above all, it is the new GLE Coupe that shows off its best side.

Mercedes shows off more of the S-Class Cabriolet

Tue, Aug 25 2015

Mercedes has been very much into teasing lately, providing various kinds of peeks at the recently revealed Mercedes-AMG C63, the coming 2017 E-Class sedan, and the S-Class Cabriolet. We've seen the least of that latter car but it could be the one we know the most about. The sixth member of the S-Class family after the standard sedan, the long-wheelbase sedan, the Maybach models, the Pullman, and the coupes, this one puts a fabric top on that two-door model and then lets owners take it off. After the sketched rendering from two weeks ago, this latest photo from Mercedes shows us pretty much what we're going to get, and since we're huge fans of the coupe it looks like we'll be huge fans of this, too. It will certainly come heaped with techno gizmos like heated armrests, and a set of Burmester speakers in the tonneau cover. In case you're wondering, those screen-looking things behind the front seat headrests are fans for the Airscarf neck warming system. The press release below has a bit on the history and demise of four-seater Mercedes droptops, which helps remind us why we should care about the trim being resurrected 45 years later. Related Video: The new S-Class Cabriolet: A star returns Stuttgart, Aug 25, 2015 - Coveted dream car of the 1960s meets star of the 2015 International Motor Show in Frankfurt: the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is following in the tradition of the open-top S-Class (model series 111 and 112) from the period 1961 to 1971. Unmistakeable, exclusive design, fine materials with maximum high-class appeal in the interior and state-of-the-art technology in the S-Class characterise the concept behind both cabriolets. "After 44 years we can again offer friends of our company an open variant of the S-Class. The new S-Class Cabriolet symbolises our passion for individual and timelessly exclusive mobility, which we share with our customers", remarks Ola Kallenius, Board Member of Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales. With the new S-Class Cabriolet Mercedes-Benz is setting itself the standard of building the most comfortable cabriolet in the world. When it comes to climate comfort the enhanced automatic wind protection system AIRCAP, the AIRSCARF neck-level heating system, the heated armrests, the seat heating also in the rear plus the intelligent fully automatic climate control ensure that this is indeed the case.
