You are looking at a beautiful 1977 Mercedes Benz 450SL. This car has been well taken care of during its lifetime. Currently only has 159,650  miles on it. This Mercedes is a beautiful example of the class that these cars have carried along with them over the years. This is an example of a highly sought after color and  the prettiest color on any old European automobile, especially on two door convertibles.

Body:

The body on this car is solid. The panels are straight down both sides with no evidence of ever have being in a major accident of any kind. The paint on her is driver quality; it shows well but does have some small scratches and flaws in it. I would say it could be wet sanded and buffed to bring out a brilliant shine if the new owner is looking for a nice driver. The trunk pan and floor pans are very solid and clean.  The car is equipped with a beautiful metallic blue hardtop, which does not leak and is very solid. The soft top is brand new. All of the exterior lighting lenses are in great shape. The chrome is in great drivers quality with only minor tarnishing but no pits. All of the exterior glass is in great shape, no cracks and no chips. The infamous Mercedes Benz grill still looks amazing.

Mechanical:

This Mercedes is a clear cut example of the build quality of Mercedes V8 motors. It is very strong and fires up with the turn of the key. It runs very smoothly with no shakes, rattles or noises. The transmission shifts very smoothly through the gears with no slipping or lag. No mechanical issue that I am aware of on this Mercedes. The tires are in great shape with plenty of tread left for some wonderful drives. Under the hood is very sanitary and clean with some of the original stickers and markings still showing.

Interior:

The interior on this Mercedes is absolutely beautiful! It is very bright and brilliant and adds so much luster to the look of the car. The dash is absolutely gorgeous with the beautiful but there is a crack in it. All of the gauges are in working order and light up brilliantly during nighttime driving. The seats were just refinished, so no rips or tears in them. The carpet is in great shape as well is the headliner. The original owners manual and nameplate are included in the glove box as well as both of the tools needed to remove to hardtop. The interior of the trunk is in good shape and still has all of the spare tire and jack parts in the correct location. One of the door map pockets is missing but other than that and the crack on the dash the interior is pretty good and AC does work!

This is a beautiful car that I regretfully have to sell.  I need the room in my garage now. It has always run good, although I have not driven it in several months. I have only put around 3000 miles on it in the last five years. This is a beautiful car that is perfect for daily driver for its new owner or would be a very nice neighborhood car that you could take on a nice trip with confidence and style.

If you would like more information on the car please feel free to email me with any of your questions I do my best to answer them as quickly as possible. You may also send me a message with your phone number and I will return all calls as promptly as possible as well. If you would like to view the car if you live in a close enough vicinity that is no problem we can work out those details and make an appointment for you to view the car.

This is going to make a beautiful addition to anyone’s collection or would be a beautiful and classy start. Do not hesitate to bid with confidence!

Automakers suspend some business in Russia following invasion

Mon, Feb 28 2022

These Russian GAZ Tigr infantry mobility vehicles were destroyed by Ukrainian fighters in Kharkiv on Monday. (Getty Images)   Global auto and truck makers, including Sweden's Volvo Cars and Germany's Daimler Truck, on Monday suspended some business in Russia following that country's invasion of Ukraine. Russian forces invaded Ukraine last week, marking the biggest attack by one state against another in Europe since World War II. Many firms have idled operations in Russia following Western sanctions against Russia. Energy giant BP Plc, Russia's biggest foreign investor, abruptly announced over the weekend it was abandoning its 20% stake in state-controlled Rosneft at a cost of up to $25 billion. On Monday, Swedish automaker Volvo Cars said it would suspend car shipments to the Russian market until further notice, becoming the first international automaker to do so as sanctions over the invasion continue to bite. In a statement, the company said it had made the decision because of "potential risks associated with trading material with Russia, including the sanctions imposed by the EU and US." "Volvo Cars will not deliver any cars to the Russian market until further notice," it said. A Volvo spokesman said the carmaker exports vehicles to Russia from plants in Sweden, China and the United States. This came as Russia warned Sweden and Finland not to join NATO or risk facing “serious military-political consequences." Volvo sold around 9,000 cars in Russia in 2021, based on industry data. Earlier on Monday, RIA news agency reported Volkswagen had temporarily suspended deliveries of cars already in Russia to local dealerships, citing a company statement. VW had no immediate comment when contacted by Reuters. VW previously said it would halt production for a few days this week at two German factories after a delay in getting parts made in Ukraine. Daimler Truck said on Monday it would freeze its business activities in Russia with immediate effect, including its cooperation with Russian truck maker Kamaz. Mercedes-Benz Group is also looking into legal options to divest its 15% stake in Kamaz as quickly as possible, the Handelsblatt newspaper reported. A Mercedes spokesperson told Reuters business activities would have to be re-evaluated in light of the current events. Mercedes-Benz Group, formerly Daimler AG, was the parent company of Daimler Truck before the truck maker was spun off.

Time to catch up with Jay Leno's Garage, including his Lamborghini Espada restoration

Tue, Dec 23 2014

If you're already jealous of the time, effort and money that Jay Leno can devote to his massive car collection, prepare to get a little greener with envy with this latest video from Jay Leno's Garage. Instead of the usual format of discussing a model for about ten minutes and then taking it out for a test drive, this week Leno gives viewers on a tour of over a dozen projects concurrently happening in his stable. The breadth of the vehicles shown and the things being done to them run the entire span of the automotive hobby. At the same time, Jay's shop is working on just a simple restoration of his 1969 Lamborghini Espada (pictured), and at the other side of the building, the team is rebuilding a wood-bodied 1914 Detroit Electric from scratch. He eventually plans to slot a more modern electric drivetrain into it. If bikes are more your interest, there's a freshly completed Brough Superior just waiting for a ride, and if American models are your thing, a Ford Bronco is getting a Coyote V8 installed into it. You have some very specific tastes if you can't watch this clip and start wishing at least one of these vehicles could be in your own garage. Other than the personal projects his mechanics are working on in the shop, Jay gets to have them all, plus plenty more.

On Location at Mercedes-Benz Van Camp in the Rocky Mountains

Mon, Jul 6 2015

Camping high in the Rocky Mountains as spring gave way to summer may not seem like the obvious way to test out a work van, but that's how we sampled the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris. Our drive was based in Dunton Hot Springs and Cresto Ranch, CO, nestled high in the Rocky Mountains. Both were gorgeous and dripping with history. Since their rough-hewn origins they've been converted into an upscale camping experience. We spent a couple nights in Cresto Ranch, an old cattle outpost near the Dolores River. Our 'tent' was lavishly furnished, complete with a shower, desk, and comfortable bed. Glamor camping is in vogue, and this was 'glamping' at its finest. Most of the Mercedes activities started at Dunton Hot Springs, a former mining town with tents and log cabins remade into an even larger-scale glamping site than Cresto Ranch. The hot springs beckoned, but glampers could also enjoy massages or just soak in the soaring forests surrounding the site. The only downside: With an elevation around 8,700 feet above sea level, we found ourselves occasionally light-headed. It was a fun couple of days in the Rockies, on the road and at the campsite. Watch the video above for the complete experience, and read the review here.
