A GREAT FIND!!! A lovely 1980 Mercedes Benz 450SEL with 56,710 correct miles!! Hilton Head Island South Carolina Always. Car drives great. Starts runs and drives down the road smooth as can be. No shimmy, no shake. You will have trouble finding a nicer one.

The air conditioning is ice cold. The auto climate control works perfectly. all power windows operate as new, except the right rear...it goes up and down, the regulator makes noise. No oil leaks other than what would be considered normal seepage. all doors operate as they should, handles good in and out. Power locks work from inside, not with key. All brightwork...chrome and trim....looks fantastic. body and floors all solid. I believe all top surfaces to be original paint, may be some repaint on rockers....lower. Original books. Original floor mats....carpet underneath is great. Headliner is fine. Leather seats are in good shape.....some minor scuffs on driver seat. Trunk and spare are complete. No rust anywhere. Exhaust is all there, but is leaking somewhere(it's a little louder than normal). Wheels are like new, tires are 95%. Brakes are good. Steering tight. No coolant  leaks, no overheat issues. Car would be a great classy driver, or with a little work could be a low mileage show car.
The Becker Gran Prix stereo and tape combo is original and operates perfectly......even the "wonder bar" scan feature. Even the power antennae works correctly. Stereo on.....power up. stereo off...power down. The antennae  button even controls it....1/2 up...all down (car wash mode).

I have put this car on a TRUE auction. The high bidder at the end will own this car. I do reserve the right to pull/cancel the auction for any reason. I have been with Ebay for 13 years. 675 transactions with NEVER as much as a neutral feedback. ALL POSITIVE. I expect the same in return. A $500. Pay-Pal deposit is required within 24 hours, with balance in reasonable time (a few days or a week in cash, Bank Check or wire transfer). Hilton Head is 25 miles off I-95 in South Carolina, and transportation is easily arrainged by buyer. I can assist you though. If you wish, you could fly in....I can pick you up....you could play a couple rounds of golf and drive this car home.

HERE is a video link to see the car...........

If you have any questions, please e-mail me.
I can send you particular images of anything you may have a question about.

Please.........no nonsense. Life is too short. I won't be sending any money to you. I won't be letting the car go until it is paid in full. I won't be sending you the title so your cousin can review it. I might consider a trade, if it's something I want.

I will consider selling to overseas. I can deliver the car to Port of Savannah for shipping to Australia or other at my discretion.

Again, this is a nice car. Bid accordingly, and only if you intend on buying it.

Thank you for looking,
Doug

Test drive the Mercedes SLS AMG Electric Drive with Chris Harris

Thu, 11 Apr 2013

It's hard to not like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT. The all-aluminum coupe is fitted with a wonderful naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 delivering 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Not only does the burly combustion engine launch the two-seater to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds, but it does so with one of the world's greatest exhaust soundtracks as it roars, burbles and cackles down the road.
But what happens when Mercedes-Benz takes away the V8 and its accompanying fire-burning song? Stripped of one of its most appealing assets, does the SLS lose its soul?
Chris Harris recently had the opportunity to take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive for a track spin in Europe. Sans gasoline, but with four electric motors providing a combined 740 horsepower (737 pound-feet of torque), all-electric all-wheel drive coupe uses sophisticated torque vectoring and a multi-mode operating system to put oversteer - drifting! - back into the equation. Fun? You bet. See for yourself, below.

How Atlanta landed Mercedes-Benz

Fri, Jan 16 2015

The first phone call came last spring. An international real estate company had a high-profile client that wanted to relocate its North American headquarters. The client, whose identity was confidential, narrowed the list of prospective sites to Texas, North Carolina and Georgia. Would Georgia officials be interested in a discussion? Behind the scenes, they worked for months to lure the company, touting lower housing prices and a relaxed pace of life. They arranged interviews with CEOs of other companies in Atlanta who could speak about the area's business climate and they augmented negotiations with key executives from a utility company and Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport. Ultimately, they were also offered a reported $40 to $50 million in tax incentives. Secrecy was vital. The intermediary and officials with the Georgia Department of Economic Development gave the project a code name that changed three times throughout the summer and fall, so that only a few people had access to the most basic information. It was called Operation Eagle. It was only in September that the Georgia officials learned the identity of the client, Mercedes-Benz, and only last week that Operation Eagle bore fruit when the company publicly announced it would relocate its North American headquarters from Montvale, NJ, to the north side of Atlanta. "They put themselves in a spot on the north side where millennials can live in the city, and people can live in the northern suburbs and raise a family," Tom Croteau, deputy commissioner of global commerce for the GDED, tells Autoblog. "And when you combine that with the business aspect of a lower-cost environment, that's what we were able to provide them, along with a long-term commitment to support them however we can." In the move, the company benefits from a location that's closer to a growing base of suppliers that work with German car companies in the Southeast, as well as closer proximity to ports in Brunswick, GA, that are some of the busiest in the country. Mercedes-Benz will bring 800 to 1,000 jobs to the area. In addition to the employment, Georgia benefits from another notch in its automotive belt. Atlanta is already home to Porsche's North American headquarters. Kia Motors has a major manufacturing facility in West Point, GA, and General Motors opened an information technology center in Atlanta two years ago that employs roughly 1,000 workers.

Recharge Wrap-up: new Gigafactory drone video, Mercedes valet

Wed, Jun 10 2015

A new, Tesla-approved drone video shows the progress of the Gigafactory. Recently, a video surfaced showing what Elon Musk said was just the "pilot plant," which is only a quarter of the size of the final planned Gigafactory. This new video not only shows the structure, but also the site surrounding it. We see more steel beams waiting to be erected, suggesting that the footprint of the finished building will be even more massive than that of the current standing structure. And if what Musk says is accurate, we've got a lot more to look forward to. Have a look in the video above, and read more at Teslarati. Tesla is paying hackers to find bugs in its website and products. In a posting on Bugcrowd, the electric automaker calls on "security researchers" to find vulnerabilities in the site itself, any domains owned by Tesla, any Tesla apps as well as Tesla hardware owned by the hacker like a Model S or the Powerwall. In exchange for the hackers' service, Tesla is offering rewards ranging from $25 to $1,000 for reported vulnerabilities. Tesla also promises not to sic the law enforcement on hackers who step forward to help, as long as they follow the rules. Read more at Teslarati. Daimler and Bosch are working on automated parking for Mercedes-Benz. In a properly equipped parking garage, the car would find an empty space and park by itself, and return to the driver when called upon. The groups are starting a pilot project for the autonomous valet feature with carsharing service Car2go, where it works the other way around. Customers will be able to call a car to a pick-up zone using a mobile app. When finished, the customer leaves the car in the drop-off zone, and the car takes care of the rest on its own. "Fully automated parking will be ready for mass-production before fully automated driving," says Bosch's Dr. Dirk Hoheisel. "Low driving speeds and the information from the car park infrastructure enable a fast implementation." Read more in the press release from Daimler. Volta has raised $7.5 million in funding to expand its free EV charging network. To offer free charging, Volta's chargers essentially perform double duty as billboards for what Volta calls "companies with a vested interest in the community." "Early Internet pioneers like Google became industry titans by first offering free consumer services online paid for by companies that advertised on their platforms," says Volta CEO Scott Mercer.
