Great condition 1990 Mercedes 300SL. Car has been regularly serviced and I will provide many service documents to the new owner.

This car was purchased at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale in Jan 2008 for 16,500, then flipped by a dealer at Barrett Jackson Palm Beach 2008 for over 18K.

It had about 98K miles at that point, and was brought by that private buyer back to the DFW area, where I puchased it last year.

The previous owner's receipts come with the car as well, I am sure some are missing, but I have over 7K of receipts from service at the local MB dealer Park Place, alone.

I also have a carfax that I will be glad to send to interested parties.

The only significant aftermarket changes are:

- Upgraded performance wheels and tires, tires were last replaced in 2011 and have seen little use.

- Cup holder replaced original CD holder in center console (I have the original CD holder, which will go with the car).

- Upgraded stero with a bluetooth compatible system, that will take aux inputs and has an integreated iphone/ipod carriage; system also has an amp installed. It sounds good, and is smart ergonomically.

- Has a European style backseat (aka jumpseat) installed. The Euro versions of this car came with this, but they were not approved by the US DOT. It is installed with seatbelts on this car (the US cars had the bolt holes in place for seatbelts), but can be folded down to be used as a package shelf. This is a US car, and the seat was installed aftermarket, and so comes with no manufacturer safety guarantee. If you don't want it, I will remove it and lower the price of the car.

All changes have been professionally made.

There are NO leaks, it blows no smoke, and everything functions, except what is documented here.

Here are the exceptions:

1) Passenger window won't go back up if sent all the way down, without using the auxilliary top button. I have a new switch for replacement (hasn't been installed).

2) Soft top plastic glass is about half-life with some fogging, so I purchased a replacement plastic window kit (hasn't been installed).

3) Cruise control doesn't work (probably the control unit, they fail commonly).

More Info: The soft top works well, up and down. The car starts, runs, and shifts reliably. The suspension is in very good condition, including recently installed Bilstein shocks.

This is not a typical beater R129. This can be a reliable daily driver, but is also a collectible - it is NOT perfect, but I will set this car against any other R129 body MB as far as condition and maintenance.

Also comes with the original matching hard top, which is in good shape, but has some wear on the headliner, and a small crack in the rear window (hard to notice).

Major automakers urge Trump not to freeze fuel economy targets

Mon, May 7 2018

WASHINGTON — Major automakers are telling the Trump administration they want to reach an agreement with California to avoid a legal battle over fuel efficiency standards, and they support continued increases in mileage standards through 2025. "We support standards that increase year over year that also are consistent with marketplace realities," Mitch Bainwol, chief executive of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, a trade group representing major automakers, will tell a U.S. House of Representatives panel on Tuesday, according to written testimony released on Monday. The Trump administration is weighing how to revise fuel economy standards through at least the 2025 model year, and one option is to propose freezing the standards through 2026, effectively allowing automakers to delay investments in technology to cut greenhouse gas emissions from burning petroleum. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not formally submitted its joint proposal with the Environmental Protection Agency to the White House Office of Management and Budget for review. Even so, last week, California and 16 other states sued to challenge the Trump administration's decision to revise U.S. vehicle rules. Auto industry executives have held meetings with the Trump administration for months and have urged the administration to try to reach a deal with California even as they support slowing the pace of reduction in carbon dioxide emissions that the Obama administration rules outlined. One automaker official said part of the message to President Donald Trump at a meeting on Friday will be to consider California like a foreign trade deal that needs to be renegotiated. Automakers want to urge him to get automakers a "better deal" — as opposed to potentially years of litigation between major states and federal regulators. On Friday, Trump is set to meet with the chief executives of General Motors, Ford, Fiat Chrysler and the top U.S. executives of at least five other major automakers, including Toyota, Volkswagen AG and Daimler AG, to talk about revisions to the vehicle rules. Senior EPA and Transportation Department officials will also attend. Environmental groups are eager to keep the rules in place, saying they will save consumers billions in fuel costs. A coalition of groups plans to stage a protest outside Ford's headquarters in Michigan.

Petrolicious profiles mustard 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280 ready to go anywhere

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Mercedes-Benz sedans of the '70s and early '80s are certainly attractive models, but with their hard lines, the four-doors really don't have the graceful curves usually associated with a beautiful car. Instead, it's much more accurate to call these classic Germans handsome. The W114 chassis especially has a powerful stance about it with an upright grille dominating the front and long, flat surfaces elsewhere. Petrolicious takes a look at one man's journey to restore one of these posh vehicles in its latest video. Bernard Bredehorn grew up in the back of his grandparents' W116-chassis Mercedes 280 SE, and when he eventually got a classic of his own, Bredehorn ended up with a 1972 Mercedes 280. However, the sedan was in need of a complete restoration and sat for years in a friend's garage buried under parts. Bredehorn eventually excavated the car and brought it back to life in a very '70s shade of mustard yellow. Petrolicious shows why this classic Mercedes is now happy eat up many trouble-free miles on Germany's roads.

'The best Lewis' Hamilton faces resurgent Ferrari in F1

Wed, Apr 5 2017

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Lewis Hamilton has raised his game but whether the Mercedes driver can deny Ferrari a second successive win of the season in China this weekend remains to be seen. On paper, the triple world champion is still the man to beat -- the most successful driver by far in Shanghai with four wins to date. "Lewis is the best Lewis that I've seen in the last four years, both on and off the track," said Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff after the Briton started on pole and finished second to Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel in the Australian season-opener. "He has become a pillar of this team and he proved that in Melbourne." But Vettel is leading the championship, the first time a non-Mercedes driver has done that since he took his fourth title with Red Bull in 2013, and once-dominant Mercedes have a fight on their hands. Mercedes, who have taken both the drivers and constructors' titles for the last three years, have won four of the last five races in China. As Melbourne showed, however, past form may count for little in a season of sweeping rule change. "If you think you are going to cruise to victory in the future, based on a track record of success, you'll be proven wrong very quickly," said Wolff. "Australia was a weekend full of lessons, now we go to China ready and excited for another battle." Ferrari have not started a season with consecutive wins since 2004 at the peak of the Michael Schumacher era, the Italian team taking 15 victories from 18 races that season. Vettel's win in Australia ended a victory drought for Ferrari stretching back to September 2015, and drew rare praise from company chairman Sergio Marchionne, but they must now prove they can be genuine contenders. "You really have to go step by step," said Vettel. "It's good to know that we have a great car but it's just the beginning: new regulations, new generations of cars so there will be a lot of progress." The cars this year are longer and wider, sporting fatter tires and more swept-back bodywork as part of a rules shake-up aimed at making them faster, more spectacular to watch and harder to drive. But overtaking has also become more difficult, with Australia raising concern about the lack of real moves. The long straights and wide sweeps of the Shanghai circuit saw 128 passes last year, more than at any other track, and should provide a more definitive verdict.
