1979 Mercedes Benz 300D 4 speed gearbox. This W123 was in Northern California for its entire life until this year when I brought it to Florida. NO RUST. One small area on the passenger fender well is all I could detect. The remainder of the car is solid as a rock. Originally a 240D, the prior owner removed the 616 engine and installed a healthy '81 617 5 cylinder diesel non turbo engine. I was told the engine mileage was within 10k of the odometer reading. Odometer functions properly. Runs excellent. 4 speed transmission shifts and synchronizes perfectly. Clutch is firm. New brake pads on front. Recent upper control arms and ball joints. Extremely dependable, perfect for daily driving, commuting or cross country exploration. Excellent 30+ mpg fuel economy. A/C blows ice cold!..check out the pic with the 40 degrees at the vent, taken today when it was 80 outside.
Interior is very nice. No damage whatsoever. Manual climate control, windows, antenna and passenger mirror. Two minor cracks in the dash. Missing the passenger map pocket, but I will include/install a palomino one I have and it can be dyed...or whatever. Analog clock works perfect. As simple and basic as they come. Still has the original first aid kit in the back.
This 300D is very presentable, but it is not perfect. I have tried to capture all the "flaws" of the car in the photos. The windshield has a few chips. The paint is still relatively shiny, but there are a few minor dents on the hood, roof and trunk. The sides are straight. The tires are decent but non-matching. Has a good spare in the trunk with all the jacking tools. The central lock system is inoperable, I have it diagnosed as a leaky rear driver door actuator. The truck lock has ben changed and uses a different key than ignition. It works fine, locks, unlocks properly.
I have owned several 123's and still have a handful. In my opinion, this is an excellent candidate to invest cosmetic time in, drive or use casually. Would also make an excellent first car for a new driver, being rear wheel drive, four wheel disc brake and full frame with solid bumpers vehicle.. Anyone who knows these cars knows their DURABILITY.
Auction offered at NO RESERVE. Keep in mind this car is 34 years old but in my honest opinion..its better than a new car, and will certainly outlive most of them.  Buyer to pay 500.00 deposit upon auctions close, with balance due within 7 days. Any questions or if you would like to come and inspect the car give me a call. Please note that all sales are FINAL. This vehicle is being sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS with NO warranty expressed, written or implied.  If you have an interest in shipping I can help with shippers I've used.
I try to represent what I sell as accurately as possible and to disclose any known defects associated with the car. I do not warranty anything that may or could happen after sale. Any inspections are to be completed before the end of sale, not afterward. Winning this auction does not entitle you to come inspect the car and decide if you want to buy it, but obligates you to complete the purchase! Clear and open Florida title. I appreciate your bids. Good Luck. Dave (407) 716 6212.

CES 2022 was huge for EVs | Autoblog Podcast #711

Fri, Jan 7 2022

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder. CES took place this week, and there were some nice electric surprises from automakers, especially General Motors. John has been driving the Ram 1500 Power Wagon, as well as what seems to be its polar opposite, the electric Mini Cooper SE. Greg talks about the differences between the Acura TLX A-Spec long-termer (which is back in the shop) and the Type S loaner that's filling in for it. John's also got some interesting thoughts on leather interiors. Finally, the editors reach into the mailbag and help a repeat customer decide on a suitable replacement for a 2008 Lexus GX 470 in this week's Spend My Money segment. 8 cars we're most looking forward to driving in 2015

Mon, Jan 5 2015

Now that 2014 is officially in the books, it's time to look ahead. And following our list of the cars we liked best last year, we're now setting our sights at the hot new metal that's coming our way in 2015. Some of these, we've already seen. And some are still set to debut during the 2015 auto show season. But these are the machines that keep us going – the things on the horizon that we're particularly stoked to drive, and drive hard. Jeep Renegade Not the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Not the Ford Mustang GT350. Not the new John Cooper Works Mini. Nope, I'm looking forward to the adorable, trail-rated Jeep Renegade. And that's because I really, really, really like our long-term Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I do not, however, care too much for the Cherokee's looks, and I really don't like its $38,059 price tag. The Renegade Trailhawk, meanwhile, promises much of the same rough-and-tumble character as its big brother, but at what we expect will be a more reasonable price (I'm personally wagering on the baby Jeep's off-road model starting at no more than $23,000). With a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a nine-speed automatic, it should also be a bit easier to fill than the V6-powered Cherokee. Also, I can't help but love the way the Renegade looks. It's like someone took a Wrangler, squished it by 50 percent and then handed it off to George Clinton for a healthy dose of funk. The interior, with its bright, expressive trims and color schemes should also be a really nice place to spend some time. I'll be attending the Renegade's launch later this month, so I'll have a much shorter wait than my colleagues. Here's hoping the baby Jeep lives up to my expectations. – Brandon Turkus Associate Editor Mazda MX-5 Miata Here's an uncomfortable truth: I'd rather spend a day driving a properly sorted Mazda MX-5 Miata of any generation on a winding road than I would nearly any other vehicle, regardless of power, price or prestige. It's not just that I prize top-down driving and enjoy the Miata's small size because it gives me more road to play with. I just find there's more motoring joy to be had with high-fidelity handling and an uncorrupted car-to-driver communication loop than I do with face-distorting power or grip – let alone valet-stand gravitas. But perhaps most of all, I love Miatas because they can deliver that level of feedback and driver reward at modest speeds that won't put the locals on edge or endanger lives – you can use more of the car more of the time.
