I bought this car a little over two years ago. I have been driving it all over the states of Kentucky and Tennessee on a regular basis and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere in the country. This is a great car. Here is some of the work that I've done on it since I bought the car a couple of years ago. 1 - The front end was rebuilt about one year ago. 2 - tires w/ only about 7k on them 3 - new shocks w/ in last two years 4 - new glow plugs about one month ago 5 - new windshield about one and one-half years ago 6 - two year old battery 7 - The tranny had been rebuilt at some point and looked good when my mechanic opened it up two years ago 8 - no exterior rust that I can see 9 -the heater that you plug-in during cold weather to keep the engine warm when she's parked works great 10 - she runs really well and i've been driving her all over the state for the past two years w/ no breakdowns or major problems 11 - i've kept the oil changed more regularly than I need to and I've taken good care of her. 12 - Vaccum pump replaced two years ago 13 - Replaced front brake pads and back rear rotor and caliper ten months ago 14 - Replaced fuel hose one month ago 15 - Replaced heater climate control motor about five months ago 16 - Valves adjusted two years ago by 17 - All belts replaced two years ago and tightened a couple of months ago Here are the minuses that I can think of: 1 - the tape deck doesn't work 2 - the rubber strip that is on the back bumper is kind-of coming off 3 - the a/c is not currently working. the system has been updated, but it stopped working last summer. May be the compressor but may not. I"m not sure. 4 - the interior is generally in good shape, but the dash is cracked, the wood paneling needs some love and the backs of both front seatbottoms have come unstitched. This can be seen if you squat down next to an open rear door. 5 - The guage that measures RPMs doesn't work. It never has. 6 - the vaccum system for the locks doesn't always work great. I've never had this looked into b/c it didn't really matter that much to me. I can also manually lock all doors if I need to. 9 - Cigarette lighter doesn't work. Never has. I've never looked into it b/c I don't smoke. |

Mercedes Unimog poised for Canadian return
Sun, Jun 28 2015The Mercedes-Benz Unimog, the super-duper heavy-duty off-road workhorse vehicle that the German automaker has been making for more than 60 years, may soon be sold in Canada once again after a hiatus. Regulators had taken issue with both their emissions (super torquey diesel engines don't tend to run real clean) and the fact that some folks would take them out on city streets and even highways (these beasts have a top speed of about 25 miles per hour). Now, regulatory officials are considering allowing the Unimog to be sold in Canada again, albeit under strictly off-road driving regulations, Canada's Driving says. In fact, the diesel trucks apparently run a lot cleaner than they used to, while the torque levels remain off the charts. Naturally, some folks are clamoring for them because of their ability to run on just about any terrain. Hans Mross of Vancouver-based Mross Import Service Ltd., which previously imported the Unimog to Canada, told Autoblog he was "99 percent sure" the Unimog would be brought back to Canada. We'd last reported on the Unimog in April 2013, when Mercedes-Benz said it would start selling 10 different versions of the truck. Mercedes-AMG teases 2016 C63 Coupe [w/video]
Fri, Jul 10 2015Mercedes-AMG says it has "something fast" on the way. We now know it's the C63 Coupe, which will be unveiled to the world at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The carmaker teased its hot new two-door on Facebook, with a series of elusive photos showing a camouflaged C63 at the track. Something fast, indeed. We just drove the 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 S sedan and found it to be absolutely wonderful. It's no slouch, either – the four-door will run 0-60 in under four seconds. We expect the same from the upcoming coupe, thanks to the incredibly powerful, 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 under the hood. The C63 sedan produces 503 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque in S guise. The coupe should do the same. The AMG C63 will debut with the rest of the C-Class Coupe range at the Frankfurt show, or possibly even a bit earlier. We can't wait. 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe unleashed with 503 hp [w/video]
Thu, Aug 20 2015The Mercedes-AMG C63 Sedan is a truly fantastic car. The recently revealed Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is a seriously pretty two-door. Combine the two, and you get the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe that'll debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The AMG C63 Coupe takes everything we love about the sedan and puts it into the sleeker coupe body. It's equal parts aggression and elegance, and it's got the performance and luxury substance to back up both of those attributes. Under the hood is the same twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 as the C63 sedan, with two different states of tune. Standard C63 models get 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, while the C63 S ups those numbers to 503 and 516, respectively. Running to 60 miles per hour takes 3.9 seconds in the standard car or 3.8 seconds with the S, and the coupes are limited to either 155 or 180 miles per hour, depending on specification. Both versions of the C63 use Mercedes' AMG Speedshift seven-speed automatic transmission. Inside, it's all C-Class Coupe, which is to say, it's lovely. Same goes for all of the ride and handling bits – there's no doubt in our mind that the C63 Coupe will be just as much fun as its four-door sibling on both road and track. We'll see the AMG C63 Coupe next month, but American deliveries won't start until the summer of 2016, hence the 2017 model year designation. We're licking our chops in anticipation. The sportiest C-Class ever Mercedes-AMG is setting another milestone in the brand's history: the new 2017 AMG C63 Coupe is the next step on the way to more technical and visual distinctiveness. The far-reaching technical modifications are evident at first sight: strikingly flared front and rear wheel arches, an increased track width and larger wheels give the C63 Coupe a muscular look while also providing a basis for highly agile longitudinal and lateral dynamics. The brand's typical "Driving Performance" is also taken to new heights with the C63 Coupe. The AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, with 469 hp in standard trim or 503 hp in the C63 S, is a completely in-house development from Affalterbach. In addition, the sophisticated AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, the set-up of the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT transmission modes, the rear-axle limited-slip differential and the dynamic engine mounts have all been developed by AMG. The C-Class is Mercedes-AMG's best-selling model and forms the backbone of the company's success.
