A Class Act… Man, what a ride!

You know that timing is everything!

If you stumbled upon this auction, then this may be your lucky day. Are you looking for a reliable car with looks that will last?

Where are you going to find a solid car with classic looks, unrivaled reliability, economy, style and class?

Well, today I am offering, a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D 4dr Sedan 5-cyl. 2998cc/123hp Turbo-diesel Fuel Injection. You can enjoy this car, have it several years, sell it and get your money back. Cheap Thrills!

The only reason that I am offering her is because I’ve bought another one, in Lapis Blue. Actually this Dark Blue 1984, drives better but has more miles and its interior is better. Yet, I prefer the color of the 1985.

“Mercedes built the car to last, and many are still on the road today. As a testament to the car’s longevity, it is popular in Africa as a bush taxi, covering thousands of miles of rough roads with only basic maintenance. The 3.0-liter inline 5 diesel in the 300D, while lacking in power, is considered to be one of the most reliable engines ever built. The timeless design is sure to last as long as the car itself, making this car a classic that is here to stay.” (Hagerty, 1984 300D Turbo-Diesel, 2014).

Why buy this one!

1. I got this car from my friend who happens to be a Mercedes Diesel expert. Pete goes over all of these cars before buying them and drives the kinks out of them, then fixes and tunes them to its optimal performance. Some he has kept, this is one of them that he sold to me. It has been vacuum tuned and runs quicker than all of them.  All of the fluids, oils and filter have been replaced or checked and/or changed and will be checked again prior to purchase.

2. Stringent Virginia State Inspection has just been completed. You don’t get a sticker in Virginia unless the brakes, lights, steering, horn, windows and more are acceptable for the road.

3. None of these cars are exactly alike in how they perform and drive. Do not let the mileage fool you because this one drives smoother, tighter and quieter than previous ones that I’ve owned. Reliability is an understatement. This one, none of them ever let me down. I feel confident that this car will go anywhere.

Best part about this 300D is the way it moves on down the road.  She can be driven and driven and driven anywhere.

4. I believe that I have many of the records back from 1996 and vehicle history and title report appear to indicate this was either a one or two owner car and has been in the North Carolina and mostly Virginia most of its time.  Also, the records from 96 on indicate the car was serviced at Mercedes in Richmond, VA.

Other considerations for your purchasing decision:

-       Up in value

-       Hard to find

-       Well maintained with records

-       Primarily a one owner, southern car

-       No reported accidents or incidents

-       Stringent VA inspection just completed

-       Tuned up to perfection and gone over by a Mercedes Diesel Expert

-       Quicker, quieter and smoother than others previously owned

-       Dark Blue, very clean

-       Everything works to its optimal condition

-       Nice looking car and runs great

-             Tires good to very good

-             Drives 10

-            Brakes 10

-            Electric Sunroof 10

-            Windows 10 clear – front windshield slight ding on windshield

-             Seats, interior very good – drivers seat (see pic)

-            Seats could be lightly dusted as it is called to bring to perfection

-             Body – solid (slight rust noted drivers side rear, see pic)

Known Needs:

Air Conditioning – The system was replaced in 2001 and got the record. I purchased the car in the winter and did not concern myself with it. The air conditioning needs to get checked.

According to Hagerty Ratings these cars keep increasing in value and I have adjusted the price considerably.

These cars are used for daily transportation but are ready for a long tour without excuses, and the casual passerby will not find any visual flaws. "Good" is the one word description of a Hagerty Price Guide #3.

2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4Matic Quick Spin [w/video]

Fri, Nov 13 2015

Mercedes-Benz product guru Bart Herring strode to the middle of a crowded conference room in Atlanta and succinctly explained the 2016 GLC. "What's different from the outgoing car? Everything." That's getting right to the point, and it's accurate. The GLC is lighter, larger, and more comfortable than the long-running GLK that it replaces. It's wrapped in a simple yet elegant design that's a departure from the polarizing looks of its off-road-themed predecessor, and the "C" in the name now clearly aligns it as the SUV counterpart to the C-Class sedan. We'll always have a soft spot for the GLK, but the widespread appeal of the GLC is undeniable. Driving Notes The GLC300 runs Mercedes' widely used 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, rated at 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Maximum twist is served up at just 1,300 rpm, which makes passing smooth and easy. We pick off semis and slower moving traffic with confidence. During these bursts of acceleration, we notice the engine note, which has a deep timbre. The turbo four is a solid replacement for the GLK's naturally aspirated V6. Still, we like that engine. It serves up 302 hp in no-frills fashion. But Mercedes is moving away from six cylinders, inline with market trends, and this turbo delivers 20-percent better fuel economy. Though the I4 and V6 are both rated at 273 lb-ft, the turbo's max output is available much sooner. Coupled with the lighter weight, it almost makes up for the turbo four's 61 fewer hp. 0-60 times are expected to be comparable, Herring says. The GLC's nine-speed automatic transmission replaces the GLK's seven-speed auto gearbox. The new transmission shifts smoothly when we're cruising, though it will hold gears longer in Sport and Sport+ modes when we want to spice things up. We pull the paddles during acceleration, but found this sophisticated unit is best left to its own devices. We spend most of our test in a 4Matic all-wheel-drive version, which provides a little extra peace of mind on a chilly, wet morning as we navigate the busy highways and quiet rural routes of northern Georgia. Generally, it's hard to actually test all-wheel-drive capability on the street, but we definitely notice when we don't have it. During our brief test in a rear-drive model, the tires spin when we get on the throttle aggressively, and the vehicle feels a little more unbuttoned over the wet leaves strewn across the damp pavement.

Mercedes releases 6x6 G63 AMG specs and pics [w/video]

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

Mercedes-Benz has finally dropped full details on its insane G63 AMG 6x6. The machine puts 544 horsepower to all six wheels thanks to a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. A seven-speed gearbox shuttles power to the ground via three sets of portal axles, which helps give this machine a full 15.75 inches of ground clearance. By comparison, the standard G63 AMG sits with just 8.27 inches of ground clearance. The extra lift allows this 6x6 to ford nearly 40 inches of water and run massive 37-inch tires. All told, there are five differential locks on this thing, all controlled by a special "locking logic" that provides the best traction possible for any given situation.
The controls offer up three stages of locking, which we can only assume range from JKLOL to OMGWTF. Right now, AMG says this monstrosity is only a show vehicle, but we imagine it wouldn't take much to convince the team to whip up one of your very own. Check out our full gallery and the press release below for all the nitty gritty. While you're down there, you can also check out the video on the machine one more time.
