1960 MERCEDEZ BENZ 190 SL

FIRST CLASSIC CAR EVER SOLD ON EBAY
AS ANNOUNCED ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA!

Entirely rust free and very original 1960 Mercedes Benz 190SL matching numbers, with its rebuilt Webber carburetors, ivory  finish over a saddle leather interior. Mechanically sorted and with freshly rebuilt carburetors, rebuilt engine, transmission, fuel tank, new brakes and brake lines. It is believed to be all original except for the addition of a Fireball Electronic Ignition and retrofitted Audi starter.  Its original numbers-matching engine starts right up without any smoke and idles consistently, maintaining excellent, even compression across all cylinders and pulling strongly under acceleration, thanks in part to its accurately tuned rebuilt Webber carburetors and a decade of detailed care and gentle use. The car’s original gearbox is smooth and correct, with effortless up and down shifts across all gears, and the car’s brakes and suspension all function as they should. The car’s body is straight with even and correct panel fits and gaps throughout. The windscreen and windscreen rubber is all original. Bumpers and major chrome parts  have been re-chromed. The car’s undercarriage is entirely solid and correct, without  rust and the car sits on its original color matched, hub-capped steel wheels.

The car’s  interior is equally as clean, the saddle leather seats and interior panels showing only the most negligible of wear, the new complimentary tan carpets and the leather wrapped dash free of any significant wear or sun damage. However, the cars fuel gauge is aftermarket. The car retains its ivory steering wheel, as well as its clock and fully operating Becker Europa radio.

The car has been meticulously cared for and well preserved.  The car was used solely as a garaged and well-taken-care-of weekend driver and event participant. Accordingly, the car remains in exceptional original condition, marred only by the most insignificant of imperfections, none of which

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an appreciating classic  rust-free, cosmetically gorgeous and mechanically sound. Show quality examples have been selling routinely above $230,000, and as high as $269,500 at auction, prompting incredible market demand.

I am offering this car through Piano Outlet as a favor to a dear friend, this car played a part in our pianos being offered on Ebay.
Sometime in 1999 I received a call from a friend of mine (Michael) who I met when he came in to buy a piano from me. He told me he bought a car off a web site called Ebay. At the time I was very involved with the classic car hobby and had been attending shows with different cars I would buy and and work on through the years. After spending some time at the some of the local cars shows he decided to get involved and made this spur of the moment purchase one night after a brief conversation with the previous owner.
Shortly afterwards upon watching  "Good Morning America" they
mentioned his name in a story about the up and coming internet website "Ebay". Apparently his new toy was the first of it's kind to be sold online through Ebay. When the car arrived and was in the condition as advertised he was very happy and it was then I thought it would be a great experiment to see how my pianos would sell online through Ebay. The rest is history!
I have since had thousands of pianos through my showroom being shipped all over the world.

Next Aston Vantage will be the only way to get an AMG V8 with a stick

Tue, Mar 29 2016

With only a few exceptions, most of them factory customs, AMG hasn't built cars with manual transmissions. It just isn't the way things are done in Affalterbach. But now that Mercedes's in-house speed shop will be supplying engines to Aston Martin, the world will be treated to cars with three pedals and overengineered German V8s wrapped in a pretty British package. We're into it. The news comes from Car and Driver, which spoke to Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer about the new Vantage among other things. Palmer confirms to C/D that the Vantage will continue to offer manual and automatic transmissions when the next-gen car arrives featuring the AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. In its most potent form, the eight-cylinder makes 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque in the AMG GT S. Figure on a little more from the Aston-ized version, just for fun. The current V8 Vantage GT makes 430 hp and 361 lb-ft from its naturally aspirated 4.7-liter. While some may lament the new engine's forced induction, that added power and the thoroughly modern behavior of the AMG engine should be welcome. While the AMG V8 is currently only planned to go into Aston's entry-level car, C/D does mention a possibility of it (and perhaps its three-pedal transmission) making its way into other cars as an economy option for certain markets. If a V8 DB11 were to be offered, don't expect it to show up here, though. There's also no word on who will supply the manual for the AMG-Aston mashup, but it likely will be a transaxle like the current Vantage. Ex-factory manual AMGs aren't totally unprecedented. Pagani has built some three-pedal cars with its massaged AMG V12s. Compared to those, however, these manual Vantages can be considered mass-production cars. And really, any increase in the number of sticks mated to AMG engines can only be a good thing. 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 First Drive

Mon, Jan 19 2015

Imagine the audacity: during the salad days of the early 2000s, the company that invented the automobile – already synonymous with class-leading luxury – sought to further expand its portfolio by crashing the ultraluxury party. Going up against the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley, Mercedes-Benz traded its unmistakable Three-Pointed Star for a Mighty Mouse-like logo, exhuming a stately, long-dead German marque originally founded in 1909. The long-wheelbase Maybach 62 listed at an epic $360,000, while later spinoffs included curiosities like the nearly $700,000 Zeppelin, and a roofless, seven-figure limousine dubbed Laundaulet. By the time the financial bubble finally burst in 2008, the brand's fate was all but sealed, with US sales dropping into the double digits. It limped along another four years, but when the nameplate finally went kerplunk, it left behind it a trail of disappointed movers, shakers, moguls and rappers. The perfect postmodern metaphor for the brand's funeral pyre? Kanye West and Jay-Z's Otis music video, in which a perfectly fine Maybach is chopped and deconstructed, flames spewing out the tailpipes as it powerslides through an empty parking lot. Meet The (Sorta) New Boss Rising from the ashes of hubris is the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600, a recalibrated stab at high-end luxury with a startlingly similar, yet different, approach to its forbear. Like the last go, the new sled features a significantly longer wheelbase, which stretches 8.1 inches over the standard S600. Additional sound damping helps it claim the quietest rear cabin in all of production automobiledom, and posher trim bits include a rim of wood surrounding the reclining rear seats. Among the livery-focused special features is a rearview mirror-mounted microphone to amplify the driver's voice, an available rear fridge, and an executive seat package with folding tray tables. The super high-end hallmarks are there – a twin-turbo V12 dispatching sub-5 second 0 to 60 times, a stunning 24 speaker Burmester sound system, double-M branded silver plate champagne flutes, et al. – but the hyperinflated price tag is not. Starting at $189,350, roughly half the cost of the old flagship, the new Maybach isn't even the most expensive Mercedes-Benz you can buy. That distinction goes to the S65 AMG Coupe, which empties your coffers to the tune of $230,900.

Why we can't have better headlights here in the U.S.

Tue, Mar 13 2018

It wouldn't be a European auto show if we weren't teased with at least one mainstream vehicle we can't have here. At the Geneva Motor Show last week, the small but vocal contingent of shooting-brake buffs lamented that the Mazda6 wagon won't be coming to our shores, although they can take comfort in the fact that the vehicle won't get the torquey 250-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine we'll get here. Mercedes-Benz also announced a new headlight technology in Geneva that likely won't be available here anytime soon. It's just the latest in a long line of innovative and potentially lifesaving front-lighting solutions that the federal government doesn't allow in this country due to outdated standards — and a current lack of leadership at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Mercedes-Benz's new Digital Light system that debuted in Geneva uses a computer chip to activate more than a million micro-reflectors to better illuminate the road ahead. The Digital Light headlamps works with the vehicle's cameras, sensors and navigation mapping to adjust lighting for the given location and situation and to detect other road users. The Digital Light technology also serves as an extended head-up display of sorts by projecting symbols on the pavement ahead to alert drivers to, say, slippery conditions or pedestrians in the road. And it can even project lines on the road in a construction zone or through tight curves to show the driver the correct path. Digital Light will be available on Mercedes-Maybach vehicles later this year, although like any technology it's bound to trickle down to less expensive vehicles. That is, if we ever get it here in the U.S. Audi, a leader in automotive lighting, has repeatedly run into snags trying to bring state-of-the-art car headlights to the U.S. The German luxury automaker's recently introduced matrix laser headlight system, which performs many of the same trick as Mercedes-Benz's Digital Light, also isn't legal on U.S. roads. And five years after the introduction of its matrix-beam LED lighting, which illuminates more of the road without blinding oncoming motorists with brights by simultaneously operating high and low beams, Audi still can't bring that technology to the U.S. either.
