1986 Mercedes-Benz 190e 2.3 16v Cosworth Up for sale is this classic 190e 2.3 16v. This car is one of one of 1,267 and one of 2,229 sold total in the United States for it's two year production run. This car is fitted with the desirable getrag 5 speed dog leg gear box and is the prefered color Blue-black (DB 199) which actually is a black/gray color. I am the second owner of this car and have owned it since 2000. The title was issued to me on 01/01/2001. I bought the car with about 67k and it currently has around 87k. Having a child recently has changed my priorities and thus here my car is for sale on ebay. The car has always remained in the same area. I live about 10 miles from the original owner. The car has an excellent service history, all receipts and records have been kept detailing maintance. I have the original sales literature and windown sticker. I have kept this car stock with the exception of Bilstein sport lines (shocks/struts) and tastefull exhaust modifications. The vehicle is fitted with an NOS Euro downpipe which I bought a few years ago. This downpipe has no catalytic converters. The car has a custom stainless exhaust and a real remus muffler. When I purchased the muffler it cost almost $600. Included with the car is the original downpipe with catalytic converters. The current exhaust gives the car an amazing exhaust note. The muffler is the same as the following: The exterior of this classic vehicle is in good condition considering the car is 28 years old. The clear on the vehicle's trunk has began to check as is normal with Mercedes of this vintage. The body panels gaps are correct. The driver's side lock cylinder has been taken out and needs to be repaired. The interior: There is a small tear in the front drivers seat which occured last year. The dash has the typical cracks. I have a mint original dash from an 190e 16v that I will include with the car. All gauge are function with the exception of the timer and temperature gauge, I think I might have an extra. Correct Becker radio is functional. Also included are many spare parts such as electrical items, switches, tail lights, directionals, filters etc. I also have an additional set of aftermarket 16"wheels that could be purchased if the buyer is interested. This car is being sold as is. You may contact me to set up arraignments to view this vehicle. Payment is to be made with a certified bank check or cash. Backround on vehicle: In the late 1970s, Mercedes competed in rallying with the big V8-powered Coupes of the R107 Series, mainly the light-weight Mercedes 450 SLC 5.0. Mercedes wished to take the 190 E rallying, and asked British engineering company Cosworth to develop an engine with 320 bhp (239 kW) for the rally car. This project was known as project "WAA' by Cosworth".[8] During this time, the Audi Quattro with its all-wheel drive and turbocharger was launched, making the 2.3-16v appear outclassed. With a continued desire to compete in high-profile motor sport with the 190, and also now an engine to do it with, Mercedes turned to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) (German Touring Car Championship) motor sport series instead. Cars racing in this championship, however, had to be based on a roadgoing model. Mercedes therefore had to put into series production a 190 fitted with a detuned version of the Cosworth engine. This high-performance model was known as the 190 E 2.3-16, and debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 1983, after its reputation had already been established. Three cars, only slightly cosmetically altered, had set three world records in August at the Nardo testing facility in Italy, recording a combined average speed of 154.06 mph (247.94 km/h) over the 50,000 km endurance test, and establishing twelve international endurance records. The Mercedes 190-E Cosworth was also featured on the second episode in series fifteen of the popular car show Top Gear. 2.5-16 Cosworth The Cosworth engine was based on the M102 four cylinder 2.3-litre 8-valve 136 hp (101 kW) unit already fitted to the 190- and E-Class series. Cosworth developed the cylinder head, "applying knowledge we've learnt from the DFV and BDA."[9] It was made from light alloy using Coscast's unique casting process and brought with it dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, meaning 16 valves total which were developed to be the "largest that could practically be fitted into the combustion chamber".[9] In roadgoing trim, the 2.3 L 16-valve engine made "185 hp (138 kW) at 6,200 rpm and 174 lb·ft (236 N·m) at 4,500 rpm. The oversquare 95.50 x 80.25 mm bore and stroke dimensions ensuring that it revs easily up to the 7000 rpm redline".[10] Acceleration from 0–100 km/h (62 mph) was less than eight seconds, and the top speed was 230 km/h (143 mph).[10] US-Specification cars had a slightly reduced compression ratio (9.7:1 instead of 10.5:1), and were rated at 167 hp (125 kW) @ 5800 rpm and 162 lb·ft (220 N·m) @ 4750. The roadgoing version of the engine was reconfigured with reduced inlet and exhaust port sizes, different camshaft profiles, no dry sump configuration and Bosch K-jetronic replacing the specialised Kugelfischer fuel injection. These changes helped bring power down to the required 185 bhp (138 kW) specification, but still resulted in a "remarkably flexible engine, with a very flat torque curve and a wide power band".[9] The heads for the engines were cast at Cosworth's Coscast foundry in Worcester and sent to Germany to be fitted to the rest of the engine, parts of which were different from the standard 2.3 including light pressed alloy pistons, and rings designed to withstand higher engine speeds, whilst con-rods, bearings and bearing caps were found to be strong enough as standard and left unaltered. The Mercedes G-Class gets the full Maybach treatment before the curtain finally closes
Mon, Feb 6 2017Like the hotdog and soda combo at Costco or the official website for the 1996 movie Space Jam, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has soldiered on nearly unaltered since its birth. Sure, there have been variants like the wonderfully over-the-top G63 6x6, but the G-Wagen is essentially the same squared-off SUV with rifle-bolt locks and doors with enough mass to support a minor gravity field. Spy shots show a replacement is finally on the horizon, but based on the leaked YouTube video above and Instagram post below, it looks like the current model is going to get the full Mercedes-Maybach Landaulet treatment before the curtain finally closes. While there has been no official word from the automaker, all signs point to a genuine Mercedes-Maybach product. The vehicle is badged as a G650, which falls in line with other current V12-powered Mercedes-Maybach products. The Maybach name and badge are found in all the expected places. The license closely matches other Mercedes German-manufacturer plates. The carbon fiber fender flares and portal axles look like they were taken from the G550 4x42. The latter means, despite the increased wheelbase, this new model should still be a formidable off-road machine. This content is hosted by a third party. That means high-quality leather surfaces throughout and an increased focus on rear seat comfort and convenience. If this is indeed a G650, it's packing a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 under the hood that churns out 630 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. The partial convertible top is what gives this the Landaulet moniker. According to the text on this Instagram post, there will only be 99 examples produced. Look for a full reveal in the next few months. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

On Location at Mercedes-Benz Van Camp in the Rocky Mountains
Mon, Jul 6 2015Camping high in the Rocky Mountains as spring gave way to summer may not seem like the obvious way to test out a work van, but that's how we sampled the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris. Our drive was based in Dunton Hot Springs and Cresto Ranch, CO, nestled high in the Rocky Mountains. Both were gorgeous and dripping with history. Since their rough-hewn origins they've been converted into an upscale camping experience. We spent a couple nights in Cresto Ranch, an old cattle outpost near the Dolores River. Our 'tent' was lavishly furnished, complete with a shower, desk, and comfortable bed. Glamor camping is in vogue, and this was 'glamping' at its finest. Most of the Mercedes activities started at Dunton Hot Springs, a former mining town with tents and log cabins remade into an even larger-scale glamping site than Cresto Ranch. The hot springs beckoned, but glampers could also enjoy massages or just soak in the soaring forests surrounding the site. The only downside: With an elevation around 8,700 feet above sea level, we found ourselves occasionally light-headed. It was a fun couple of days in the Rockies, on the road and at the campsite. Watch the video above for the complete experience, and read the review here.
