2006 Mazda Rx-8 Gt on 2040-cars
Freedom, Pennsylvania, United States
My eMail : luciusgreenlees199141@yahoo.com 2006 MAZDA RX-8 GT This car needs nothing and is in excellent condition, garagekept, and gets regular maintenance at the local Mazda dealer... very fun todrive and handles like it's on rails. I replaced the stock exhaust with aTurboXS 3" Hi-Flow stainless steel system, including the Catalytic Dual Mufflers and Pipes -- very nice growl. In addition, I updatedthe factory Air Intake with a Racing Beat Hi-Flow System to complement theexhaust. The factory Tail Lights were replaced with custom LEDs (S2 style) with"Red Out" lenses -- the change is low key and subtle, but it gets lots ofcompliments. I had an Alpine iLX-007* stereo system professionally installed, feeding the factory Bose amps and speakers. This system is designed for AppleCarPlay (built into iOS) and there is a custom hidden iPhone dock in the centreconsole. The installation included a full Metra Dash Kit for the Double DIN headunit and all the necessary modules to support the Steering Wheel controls,Climate Controls, Parking Brake Sensor and LED Dash Display. In addition, thelarge touch screen allows you to see the Backup Camera when you put the car intoreverse. With your iPhone connected you can control the system "handsfree" withvoice commands to Siri, or use the familiar Apple CarPlay interface. The AlpineiLX-007 gives you full access to your Music, Maps, CarPlay compatible Apps (likeSpotify), and of course your Cell Phone. And Siri will even read your textmessages to you, and you can dictate back. Mazda development chief discusses future rotary platform
Fri, Mar 8 2019The switch can again be flicked from "The Rotary Engine is Doomed" to "The Rotary Engine Lives!" Mazda is re-tooling the once nearly forgotten rotary to work as a range extender for hybrid vehicles, with a chance for it to do even more than that. The latest information sounds rather promising for those still holding out a candle for the rotary. Mazda's powertrain development chief, Ichiro Hirose discussed future rotary plans with the Australian Drive at the CX-30 crossover's launch. Hirose told Australia's Drive that Mazda is currently working with a very flexible and efficient rotary hybrid platform that doesn't necessarily come with the heavy emissions and fuel consumption baggage the rotary engine has earlier been saddled with. Hirose calls the rotary-based solution "XEV," referring to its adaptability. "It has the generator function and also it can be used to provide the drive force to give you traction. [...] Because the rotary engine is compact in terms of its packaging size [and] if we should choose to do so we can have the generator, rotary engine and electric motor all in one [driveline] because of the small packaging." The result is an electrified platform that could be made to work as a mild hybrid, series hybrid or a battery electric vehicle with a rotary range extender (if given a plug), depending of the required implementation. It's as if Mazda had a slider to adjust the balance of using a rotary engine and using electric power, to make the platform more of a jack-of-all-trades. Hirose explained: "If you reduce the other way around it could be a pure battery-electric, using really the rotary engine as a range extender and, according to the balance, you can even provide something akin to the series hybrid that is providing the drive force. [...] So, we are looking at a wider coverage and scope. Based on this architecture it allows us to do that, to explore the huge range of applications we can have with the rotary." The platform would also be flexible when it comes to meeting various stringent emissions standards. To be able to sell XEV-based vehicles globally would mean introducing a certain setup for one region and one for another, keeping in mind when the rotary power would kick in and how. While Hirose keeps the question open whether these vehicles would make it for sale in the United States, he says Mazda would be able to make them pass U.S regulations. "I'm just saying that — theoretically — if we were to introduce it in the U.S.
2014 Mazda6: June 2013
Mon, 15 Jul 2013The 2014 Mazda6 is our most recent addition to the Autoblog long-term fleet, and we spent the month of June getting to know our Soul Red tester, generally enjoying the honeymoon phase of this twelve-month relationship. During June, the Mazda6 spent the majority of its time with director of photography Drew Phillips, who in addition to putting together this pretty gallery of our rakish long-term car, had a lot to say about it as a daily driver.
You see, not too long before Mazda delivered our long-term 6, Drew bought a 2014 CX-5 crossover to support his growing family. The CX-5 was the first vehicle to use Mazda's full suite of Skyactiv technologies, and we've generally enjoyed the good-to-drive CUV. A lot of that CX-5 goodness lies beneath the more shapely lines of this sleek Mazda6 sedan, so it's only fitting that Drew had a lot of comparisons between Mazda's two housemates during his month behind the wheel.
Alfa Romeo takes Spider in-house, Mazda-Fiat roadster partnership not dead
Sat, Dec 20 2014It's officially off. Following a report in March of this year that the marriage of Mazda and Alfa Romeo to produce a MX-5-based Spider was in trouble, the Italians have confirmed that it will take development in-house. "As far as the Spider goes, the final version is of course no longer the two-seater FCA co-developed with Mazda but a derivative of Project Giorgio," Maserati and Alfa Romeo brand boss Harald Wester told Car. For those not in the know, Project Giorgio is Alfa's codename for the rear-drive platform that will underpin the next-generation Spider, not to mention the replacement for the 159 sedan and a few other products. All is not lost for the Japanese-Italian partnership, though. "The Far East import will probably find a new home with Fiat-Abarth," Wester told Car. Yes, you read that correctly, Mazda is still working with FCA, and the result will eventually end up with Abarth's scorpion badge. If anything, we're more excited over this news than the idea of an Alfa MX-5. But we want to know what you think – would you rather Alfa build a new Spider on the Miata's bones, or does an MX-5 Abarth sound like more fun? Have your say in Comments.
