Up for sale is my 1985 Mazda RX7 GSL with 133k on
it. It is neither a showroom vehicle nor a basket case. You’ll get a garaged
car that’s a daily driver you can enjoy and work on along the way. It is in
good as is condition, being fun and reliable. Surprisingly it gets much
attention from different generations of people. Mark my words, these collectible
vehicles are getting closer to having their day in the sun. Here
are the pros… There
are no major rust issues with the car; the paint is average
with some clearcoat fading in some areas (see pics). It has a newer CD
player with a phone jack for your Smartphone. It also has Sirius satellite radio. I do have the original factory radio cassette with equalizer
included. Has the removable
sunroof, power windows, power mirrors (driver side doesn’t work), and
cruise control. Recent
service includes the front/rear brakes, front rotors, and brake
fluid flushed. Other
repairs in my ownership are: all belts replaced, changed spark
plugs, master cylinder replaced, thermostat replaced, igniter replaced, and
newer battery. Here
are the cons… Air
conditioning doesn’t work (never looked into, may be
a leak that needs sealing and perhaps an opportunity to convert to 134a coolant).
Heat does work. Power
steering doesn’t function due to a leak. I’ve already
replaced the pump (But I have no issues with driving). There
is a surface scrape on the very front corner of the right quarter
panel and bumper (see pics). HOWEVER,
I have a car bra (never used) that will cover the scrapes if you don’t want to
initially paint. It will come with the car. I have also a new unused, unpainted bumper cover and all used replacement parts (light
covers, rubber molding) to repair the scraped area should you repair and paint
down the road. It includes a shop manual (a reproduced edition). A $500.00 deposit via PayPal is required to hold the
vehicle and the balance is due upon pick up with a certified check only. Car
will be for sale locally in Cincinnati, Ohio. Feel free to contact me with
questions. |

2015 Mazda2 spotted on the road
Tue, 15 Apr 2014When Mazda unveiled the Hazumi Concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, our excitement for the next Mazda2 increased considerably. The Hazumi looks to retain much of the driving character that makes the current 2 one of the very best cars in its segment while infusing it with more aggressive styling. Of course, when the 2 arrives, it won't look exactly like the Hazumi. That's why these spy photos are so important.
This is our very first look at the next-generation 2, and although the Hazumi influence might be difficult to discern, thanks to the swirly camo, it's still there. The grille shape and the headlights are very similar in shape to the items shown on the concept, while the camouflage disguises the shape of the greenhouse, which looks somewhat like the Hazumi.
What we can't see, though, is under the hood. That's where our spies come in, reporting that a pair of 1.5-liter SkyActiv engines will see action in the tossable 2. The former, which we'll almost certainly see in the US, is a gas-powered mill found in the Euro-spec Mazda3. In the larger 3, it produces 99 horsepower and 111 pound-feet of torque, which is broadly similar to what the current 2's 1.5-liter pumps out. The other engine, a 1.5-liter SkyActiv diesel, probably won't be making the trip, although we'll continue to hope.
Teen Miata enthusiast and friend of Autoblog passes away
Tue, 09 Sep 2014
When Thomas' illness made it impossible for him to drive, he relied on friends to do it for him.
Attending the reveal of the 2016 MX-5 Miata and the subsequent 25th anniversary celebration at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca confirmed that the little roadster maintains broad appeal, one not limited to the elderly or a certain gender as detractors might have you believe. In fact, the assembled crowd was surprisingly youthful, particularly amongst the club racer set and tuners. But one young Miata owner and superfan unfortunately wasn't in attendance - Thomas Jost, 19, was busy fighting for his life in a Maryland hospital.
Mazda6 Skyactiv-D racecar gets first win at Road Atlanta
Tue, 23 Apr 2013Mazda has a long motorsports history, and one that is peppered with fascinating cars. The latest chapter in Mazda's racing story has just been written, as Joel Miller and Andrew Carbonell have driven the Visit Florida Racing Mazda6 Skyactiv-D to the car's first ever victory at the Rolex Grand-Am GX race at Road Atlanta. The win marks the first ever for Mazda's diesel-burning, production-car based Skyactiv-D racer, and the first win for a diesel-powered car in a Grand-Am event.
In fact, it was a particularly good day for the Mazda Motorsports team, as a Mazda6 also picked up the third finishing spot at Road Atlanta. Director of Mazda Motorsports, John M. Doonan, said of the racecar, "We've always said that the best street cars make the best racecars, and, with more than half of the components in the race engine being shared with the street engine, this program is a solid proof-point."
SpeedSource Engineering, which helped to build the Mazda6 racer, was greatly heartened by the car's performance in just it's fourth-ever race. Owner Sylvain Tremblay called the victory, "a tribute to the thousands of hours of hard work over many months," continuing, "The normal plan with a new car is to spend the first year in development, the second year seeking race wins, and challenging for a championship in year three. We are already at our year-two status after four races. We can't wait to get to the Belle Isle course in Detroit for round five."
