1994 LS2 V8 Miata

This award winning car with less than 12,000 miles since its completion is a one off, custom built high performance sports-car (not a conversion kit). This car was designed, fabricated and custom built from the ground up, this build was accomplished years before any GM LS V8 Miata conversion kits existed and before the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky debuted. And of course before Mallett LS V8s were introduced into those cars. This particular V8 Miata is one of the First LS V8 powered Miatas ever built in the country and was the First LS2 V8 Miata, completed back in 2005 (utilizing a new 2006 crate engine). This Car’s first world-wide exposure was when it was featured on The Speed Channel,  Stacey David’s GEARZ TV in Season 2, Episode 11, This Laguna blue, “C” package Miata was originally purchased from Berge Mazda, located in Mesa, Arizona, I have the original Window Sticker. This car has been exclusively an Arizona car. I’ve owned it and driven it since 2001. For years, it was a Track Toy fun car I built using a lot of great Flyin' Miata products over the years long before FMs entry into the LS V8 Miata conversion business. My car primarily racked up considerable track time and very little street mileage for early years. This 2460 Lb. 450 HP car currently has just under 12,000 miles on it since being completed  and is as well sorted as any sports car can be in over a decade with a focused gearhead owner.

Some specifications of the car:

Drive-train The NEW LS2 450 HP NEW crate engine with 450 flywheel horsepower and 428 Ft/. Lbs Torque was hand assembled / blue-printed  by Don Hardy Race Cars of  Texas. The car was dyno-tested after completion by UMS Tuning of Mesa, Arizona at 1000 miles, verifying it’s targeted  performance numbers.

The TREMEC T56 six-speed transmission,  was also blue-printed and upgraded by Sal Campo with Tremec performance internal components added, synchros, bearings gears including forged 3-4 shift forks. The car’s custom built short shifter sports a carbon fiber, MOMO knob.

The rear end is a Ford 8.8 IRS differential with independent suspension, 3.73 Ford SVT Racing gears and the proven Eaton Posi-traction as found in larger cars like big block Chevelles, etc. The custom built axles are 300 M, with Mark Williams  hubs and ARP ZO6 wheel studs

The fuel system has a Walbro 255 high volume fuel pump, braided stainless steel, Teflon lines, Corvette OEM stainless steel filter / pressure regulator combo. Auto-meter fuel sender. The tank was retro-fitted with components from Fuel-Safe fuel cell manufacturing including the roll-over protected vent system. The 3/8” steel fuel line, is thermally insulated for it’s entire length in the car. The extensive heat shielding of all significant components is further augmented inside and out by multiple coats of thermal ceramic sealant.

Extraordinary engine cooling is managed via a  custom built, Ron Davis, Corvette style cross-flow radiator, a vast improvement over OEM Corvette radiators. The Davis radiator is equipped with an aluminum shroud and dual SPAL 1850 CFM (each) fans. There is Custom built remote, aluminum fill tank and coolant air purge system and a Stainless steel protective mesh grill Intake is K&N, Exhaust is ceramic coated, custom built, long tube  headers, a stainless cross-over  X-pipe, oval Nascar exhaust running back through dual 3 “ Flow-master super 44 mufflers and  lastly exiting 3-1/2” stainless tips.

This unique sports-car is extensively proven itself one of the quickest, fastest available anywhere at a really reasonable price. Its pure shock value is worth every penny since it’s able to best many supercars priced above 6 figures. In the right driver’s hands this car thrives on a steady diet of snakes (cobras and vipers). 2019 Mazda3 sedan and hatchback get IIHS Top Safety Pick awards

Thu, May 9 2019

The 2019 Mazda3 is all-new, and now we have crash test ratings from the IIHS for both the sedan and hatchback. A Top Safety Pick (not the TSP+) award was given to both variants of the compact car. Since the IIHS only rates the Mazda3 headlights as "Acceptable" and not "Good," it doesn't get the "Top Safety Pick+" rating. All the major crash categories like small overlap front, side and moderate overlap front are rated as Good. The IIHS also makes crash avoidance part of its battery of tests now to evaluate forward collision and pedestrian detection systems. Both versions of the Mazda3 offer these systems, but the IIHS points out that Mazda's "Smart Brake Support" is only standard on the hatchback. This makes the hatchback standard with a "superior-rated" crash prevention system, and only optional on the sedan. Both cars equipped with the system were able to avoid collisions at 12 mph and 25 mph in the IIHS tests. Even though the Mazda3 does come standard with LED headlight projectors, the IIHS still didn't think they were good enough for a Good rating. There is one video of the Mazda3 going through the side crash test if you'd like to watch the new sedan get hit. You can read our thoughts on the new Mazda3 here. We certainly like driving the redesigned Mazda, and it's good to know the car will perform well in a crash, too.

Dealers think Mazda's new Mexico plant will increase Mazda3 sales by 20%

Mon, 27 Jan 2014

Mazda3 sales in the US were down about 15 percent last year to a total of 104,713 units. According to a report from Automotive News, though, the slowdown in sales has been due more to production constraints than demand.
Good news for Mazda dealers, then, that a new plant in Salamanca, Mexico has just come online. Tom Carey, chairman of Mazda's national dealer council, told AN, "We're going to be in good shape because of that Mexico inventory." If estimates prove accurate, sales of the Mazda3 will increase by about 20 percent when the new plant begins production this month.
If those lofty projections come to pass, Mazda will reportedly be on track to exceed 300,000 total sales in the US in 2014, which would represent the brand's highest figures since its 375,000-unit peak in 1994. The brand hopes to sell more than 400,000 vehicles in the US by 2016, and with well-received products like the latest 3 and Mazda6 sedan, such expectations seem quite possible.

Mazda will have a new rotary concept at Tokyo show, trying to bring it to production

Mon, Sep 18 2017

Despite ending production of the rotary engine in 2012, Mazda has repeatedly insisted that it's still working on rotary engine tech, and it has continued to tease a potential future rotary car with concepts, the latest of which was the RX-Vision. The company even continues to file patents on rotary tech. It seems the company is continuing this pattern, since the vice president for Mazda's European R&D center told Auto Express that it has another rotary concept ready for this October's Tokyo Motor Show. According to Auto Express, the car expands on the groundwork laid by the RX-Vision concept. In addition to revealing the existence of the concept, the executive also reiterated the fact that there's still a team in Mazda working on the rotary engine, and people are still trying to make a business case for a new rotary sports car. Auto Express expects a production car could come in 2020. The news outlet also asked if the hypothetical car would be hybridized, and the Mazda executive didn't give much of an answer beyond it being possible, though he would prefer a purely rotary-powered car. We at Autoblog think a hybrid rotary of some sort would make the most sense. It would make for an impressive halo vehicle that could be used to promote future Mazda hybrids. This would also help with the business case side of things. An electric motor, or motors, would be highly complementary to the rotary engine as well. Electric motors produce oodles of torque from down low, which rotaries don't, and the rotary engine's high-rpm horsepower would compensate for the electric motors when they've started running out of power. Not only that, but using a hybrid powertrain could help a thirsty rotary engine meet fuel economy and emissions requirements while still producing plenty of power. A hybrid system is also more possible now that Mazda is teamed up with hybrid expert Toyota. Related Video:
