1999 Silver Miata on 2040-cars

I am selling a 1999 Miata with lots of extras. Most can be seen in photographs; otherwise I will elaborate upon. I replaced the factory radio with a Pioneer stereo system that has a CD/DVD player, hands free phone capability and navigation system in July of 2013. The stereo system was approximately $1,000.00. At the same time I replaced the factory speakers and had the windows tinted. The removable hard top has new window seal as well as bottom gasket. I have a cover and rack for the hard top which I am throwing in. These items are not shown in the pictures. I also have GarageStar bolt-on brackets for removable hard top. In case you are unfamiliar with these, they are designed to prevent a quick "grab and run". I have never gotten around to putting them on, so it just has the factory spring loaded latches. I have the original owner's manual, as well as the manual for the new stereo system. Whereas this does not have the leather interior, it does have a Nardi steering wheel. It has a Billet grill. The AC is cold, and the heat is hot! As can be seen in one of the pictures, there is some wear on the driver's seat. The current mileage is 192,403. At the time of the sale, mileage will probably be a bit higher, but not much. Even though, to the best of my knowledge, there is nothing seriously wrong with the vehicle mechanically, I realize the mileage is going to scare some people. That is why I have the low Buy It Now for a quick sale. As previously mentioned, this rides very firm, but there are no rattles, shimmies, vibrations, pulling, or any other negative "driving feel". MAINTENANCE: At 185,928 miles the tires were replaced as was the timing belt, all light bulbs, brake pads and slotted rotors. The tires that were put on are 205/45 R16. I BELIEVE factory tires were 185/60 R14 and an option was 195/50 R15. If I was 20 or 30, I would say these 16 inch wheels and tires are great; but they are REALLY, REALLY a firm ride which is tough on an old geezer like me! All of this cost $1,831.67. At 186,662 I had the cylinder head rebuilt at a cost of $1,563.45. Now that I spent all this money on mechanical things, I have decided the car is just too small for me, and recently purchased a Z 28 convertible. Therefore, I no longer need the Miata. I feel the pictures pretty much speak for themselves. I have several more pictures ready to go, so if you want to see anything from a different angle or in greater detail, let me know and I will email them to you. If someone would like to look at the vehicle before bidding, I am located about 100 miles north of Little Rock, Arkansas in the Ozarks. If you want the vehicle shipped, I will not make the arrangements, but I will work with your shipper in any way that I can. There are probably several things that I have forgotten to mention, so if you have any questions, I will answer them as completely as I can. A $200.00 non-refundable deposit by Paypal is required within 24 hours of auction's end. Balance of payment (either cashier's check, money order, or cash) must be received before car is released. Once car is paid for, I am willing to store it in my garage for a "REASONABLE" amount of time. This time can be discussed with buyer at time of sale. |

Mazda6 GX Grand-Am racer goes where no diesel sedan has gone before
Sat, 26 Jan 2013There has never been a four-door diesel sedan in the Grand-Am series, until now: The blunt, bewinged grille of the Mazda6 GX has blown right through that wall. It's said that racing improves the breed, but usually the breed has gone on sale when the racing begins. One of the unusual aspects of the Mazda6 GX, on the other hand, is that while the diesel won't go on sale to the public until later this year, it will already have tasted racing blood by the end of the day. That kind of reversal is more likely found with super coupes like the Lexus LFA and Honda NSX.
Mazda has taken class wins at Daytona's 24-hour race a whopping 23 times since 1975, most recently in 2010 with the RX-8 in the GT class. This year the Hiroshima company decided to show off its SkyActiv technology, then turned things up to eleven by opting for its SkyActiv-D instead of the more conventional SkyActiv-G gas engine to run in the new GX class. It will be joined by competitors like the Lotus Evora and Porsche Cayman in the class, nevertheless, at 2.4 liters, it's the smallest engine on the grid.
Time has not been a friend, either - Mazda said that the first five SkyActiv-D engines off the production line went to Speed Source in Coral Springs, Florida, the company that preps Mazda's race vehicles. Still, race driver Jonathan Baumarito on the #70 car said that although the engine's been on the dyno since February of last year, it's only been in the car for about a month and there have been only a couple of test days.
Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla road rage video, Mazda tests EVs vs. hybrids
Wed, Sep 23 2015A Tesla Model S driver was caught driving recklessly in a dashcam video. On Toronto's Don Valley Parkway, the driver of a white Model S can bee seen speeding along the left shoulder. Another car moves partway onto the shoulder to block the driver, who moves back into the left lane. As traffic slows, the driver pulls back onto the shoulder and speeds away. The folks at Teslarati suggest that this serves as an example of why vehicle autonomy could make the roadways safer. See the video above, and read more at Teslarati. Formula E will be broadcast live on Italy's Rai network for the next two seasons. The programming will include the live races, as well as practice and qualifying highlights, podium celebrations, interviews and other pre- and post-race coverage. "It's a great opportunity for Formula E and motorsport fans to have Rai broadcasting the live races of our series in Italy," says Trulli Formula E team owner Jarno Trulli. "It's a step forward to make the series grow and get stronger after a successful first season. I'm looking forward to cooperate with Rai and show the Italian fans what we are truly doing with our technology." Read more from Formula E. A new study links a decline in cancer risk to California's air quality regulations. The study from CARB found that cancer risk from toxic air contaminants declined 76 percent from 1990 to 2012, a time period that corresponds with regulations targeting those contaminants. Even as the amount of diesel miles driven has steadily increased, cancer risk from diesel particulate matter has declined significantly. The paper predicts that cancer risk will continue to drop as a result of controls on toxic emissions. Read more at Green Car Congress. Mazda is conducting consumer trials of hybrid and electric vehicles in Japan to gauge reception. Depending on whether hybrids or EVs prove to be more popular, Mazda will adopt one of the two types of powertrain for future production vehicles. The automaker is currently testing an electric Mazda2 against a hybrid Mazda3. While this round of testing is focused on the automaker's home market, Mazda may need to expand trials to the US in response to tightening regulations in California. Read more at Green Car Reports.
