-The car is equipped with the 1.8L inline 4 engine with only 60k original miles (going up since it's my daily).

-No rust, at all, whatsoever.

-The car has custom leather seats, professionally wrapped, forgot the name of the company that did it.

-Has the Torsen Limited Slip Differential.

-Bose Sound System.

-Wood trim.

-Tan soft top that looks completely new, with a glass rear window and defroster.

-Power windows, and Cruise control.

-All maintenance is up to date.

-Had regular oil changes done.

-Timing belt, water pump, and all the gaskets and seals that go with the installation also replaced, as well as the clutch slave cylinder. All the labor done at Biggers Mazda Dealership and I have the receipt to show all of this. All of these parts were also purchased at Mazda and are all Mazda OEM. This together was about $900.

-Car was inspected by a Mazda Master Tech and absolutely no issues were found, also on receipt.

I am the third owner, bought it from an older gentleman who owned it for 11 years. The previous owner never drove it in the winter or the rain, was garage kept under a cover for majority of its life, he only put on 15k miles in 11 years of his ownership. I purchased it this summer. This car has not been autocrossed/tracked at all, no mods were ever done to this car. Kinda hard to find low mile Miatas that are basically factory stock. Anyways, contact me if you are interested.

Contact me if you have any questions!

A reasonable offer will definitely be considered, worst I can say is no.

Import pickup truck-killing Chicken Tax to be repealed?

Tue, Jun 30 2015

After over 50 years, the so-called Chicken Tax may finally be going the way of the dodo. Two pending trade deals with countries in the Pacific Rim and Europe potentially could open the US auto market up to imported trucks, if the measures pass. Although, it still might be a while before you can own that Volkswagen Amarok or Toyota Hilux, if ever. The 25-percent import tariff that the Chicken Tax imposes on foreign trucks essentially makes the things all but impossible to sell one profitably in the US, which lends a distinct advantage to domestic pickups. Both the Trans-Pacific Partnership with 12 counties and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with the European Union would finally end the charge. According to Automotive News though, don't expect new pickups to flood the market, at least not immediately. These deals might roll back the tariff gradually over time, and in the case of Japan, it could be as long as 25 years before fully free trade. Furthermore, Thailand, a major truck builder in Asia, isn't currently part of the deal, and any new models here would still need to meet safety and emissions rules, as well. Automotive News gauged the very early intentions of several automakers with foreign-built trucks, and they weren't necessarily champing at the bit to start imports. Toyota thinks the Hilux sits between the Tundra and Tacoma, and Mazda doesn't think the BT-50 fits its image here. Also, VW doesn't necessarily want to bring the Amarok over from Hannover. There is previous precedent for companies at least considering bringing in pickup trucks after the Chicken Tax's demise, though. The Pacific free trade deal could be done as soon as this fall, while the EU one is likely further out, according to Automotive News. Given enough time, the more accessible ports could allow some new trucks to enter the market.

Mazda recalling 18k Mazda6 and RX-8 models over airbag inflators

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Faulty Takata airbag inflators keep taking their toll on automakers. Mazda is the latest to be affected in the US by announcing a recall covering 18,050 Mazda6 and RX-8 models to replace the front, passenger-side airbags. Specifically, the campaign covers 18,000 Mazda6 units from the 2003 and 2004 model years built between May 29, 2002, and March 4, 2004, and 50 RX-8 vehicles from the 2004 model year made between June 25, 2003, and June 30, 2003.
As with the rest of the vehicles with these faulty inflators, it's possible for the part to rupture when deploying the airbag and potentially spray shrapnel at the occupant. Mazda's defect notice goes into a bit more detail than most about the problem saying: "some propellant wafers have been produced with an inadequate compaction force, or may have been exposed to uncontrolled moisture conditions (those wafers could have absorbed moisture beyond the allowable limits)."
This isn't Mazda's first difficulty with Takata-supplied airbags this year. The company was among the seven automakers that recalled vehicles in hot-weather states over the inflators. It also had to recently fix 42,000 Mazda6 vehicles in China over the issue.

Petrolicious lets a 1971 Mazda RX-2 howl

Fri, Jan 15 2016

Rotary engines scream to the heavens in the best way possible. To hear a wonderful example of the Wankel's battle cry, turn up your speakers and watch Petrolicious highlight an immaculately clean 1971 Mazda RX-2 in Australia. Owner Jason Humble took three years to build his RX-2 from a bare shell, and he started competing with it in vintage racing in 2005. The little coupe's class pits it on track against Mustangs and Camaros, but Humble claims that he's regularly near the top of the pack thanks to the Mazda's communicative chassis. We don't get to see the RX-2 mixing things up on track in the Petrolicious video, but Humble does treat us to a drive through the Australian countryside. He's happy to let the coupe's rotary rev, and the little engine is capable of making a wonderful noise. It's great to see Petrolicious continue to give the spotlight to these sometimes overlooked classic Japanese sports cars.
