"nadine" Ls-1 V-8 Miata on 2040-cars
Oakville, Connecticut, United States
Up for grabs is "Nadine" the LS-1 powered Miata. This car has been seen in the movie "Fireball Run; Northern Exposure" as well as the Feb '14 issue of Car Craft.
This car has been constructed with the complete Boss Frog catalog in it. This was the development mule for BF's 8.8" Cobra IRS diff mount. It sports a '99 Vette LS-1, an '02 F-body t-56 trans, and the '04 Cobra 3.73 posi rear. It shifts butter smooth with a shortened B&M shifter through the uncut stock floor. The Boss Frog kit allows the engine and trans to fit the car WITHOUT the need to extensively modify the trans tunnel as most other kits require. Handling is still Miata friendly and the ride is supple with a combination of Mazdaspeed springs on modified shocks. The rear sway bar was removed and the front was replaced with a Flyin' Miata hollow bar, bar reinforcements, and adjustable end links. Unlike most swaps, this car carries the Mazda PS pump and lines rather than cobble hoses to a GM pump. This was done to ensure that pressures and flow rates would not compromise other steering components. Also, should the need arise, replacement parts are inexpensive, easy to find, and fit without modification. Every system of the car has been upgraded from the chassis (floor supports/door bars/roll bar/engine bay stiffener/strut brace) to the cooling system (3" thick all aluminum double pass rad) to the fuel system (Walbro 225lph pump and 1/2" braided lines front to rear) to the brakes (4 piston Wilwood calipers on 11" rotors) all with the purpose of making sure the car could handle the added power safely. A full build history of pictures is on CD and will be included with the sale. Constructed with the best parts available including names like Griffin, Painless, Simpson Design, Boss Frog, B&M, Wilwood, and many more. Better than 8k trouble free miles since completion.
Turnkey cars of this type are selling at a starting price of $42,000 PLUS your Miata with a 12 week waiting period for construction..... "Nadine" has a reputation, history, and is ready to drive today! Stickers may be easily removed and extra original paint is included for future use.

2020 Mazda3 hatchback starts at $24,620, a $100 increase
Wed, Aug 28 2019Car and Driver got the scoop on some 2020 Mazda3 pricing, and anyone waiting for the new model year had better bring more money. The Mazda3 sedan goes up by $500 to $21,500. After the $920 destination charge, that's a total of $22,420. On the sedan, however, the extra dosh pays for extra equipment. Every sedan trim gets Mazda's i-Activsense driver assistance tech, meaning adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning. The i-Activsense suite had been an option the sedan's entry-level trims. The Mazda3 sedan in Select guise, one step above the entry-level model, increases $100 to $23,620. Starting price for the front-wheel drive 2020-model-year hatchback comes in at $24,620 after destination. C/D says that's a $1,020 bump, but we believe that figure is an error. Based on the fact that Mazda's U.S. pricing rounds off to the nearest hundred and destination is $920, it seems more likely the $24,620 price includes destination. In that case, the 2020 Mazda3 hatch only goes up by $100. The five-door models don't get any more equipment, but Mazda say's there's a new finish for the wheels on the top-tier Premium trim. All other trims hold steady. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a square 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque remains the sole engine option, a six-speed automatic is the standard transmission on all trims, the hatchback in Premium form offering a six-speed manual option. Buyers of the entry-level sedan are stuck with front-wheel drive, while every other trim offers all-wheel drive for $1,400. The sedans should hit dealerships this month, and the hatchbacks will roll in come September.
Fiat reconsidering Mazda-based Alfa Romeo roadster? [w/poll]
Mon, 03 Mar 2014Alfa giveth and Alfa taketh away. With apologies to Job (he has gone through a lot, after all), that's how things are looking at the Italian automaker - whether it's the promise of new products or its impending return to the North American market. But it's especially true when it comes to new roadsters.
While Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil the 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show this week, reports are now suggesting that its other roadster project is being called into question. That project is a joint venture between Fiat and Mazda, which was set to produce a version of its next MX-5 Miata as an Alfa Romeo, and was even changing the design to accommodate Alfa's requirements.
Now it appears, however, that the whole project in doubt. The problem seems to stem from Sergio Marchionne's pronouncements that, as long as he's in charge, there won't be an Alfa Romeo built outside of Italy.
Junkyard Gem: 1989 Mazda MX-6 GT Turbo
Fri, Nov 18 2016The Mazda MX-6 is best-known in the United States as the sibling (or maybe first cousin) of the Ford Probe, which almost became the successor to the Fox Mustang. The MX-6 and Probe were well-engineered and very quick for the era, but never enjoyed great American-market sales success. Here's a rare first-generation MX-6 GT that I photographed last week in a Denver self-service yard. 145 turbocharged horsepower was pretty good for 1989, when a new Honda Prelude Si had 135 horses and the far more expensive BMW 325i ($24,650 for the 325i coupe versus $14,499 for the MX-6 GT Turbo) had 168. This one doesn't have the optional four-wheel steering, but it does have the three-way adjustable suspension. If you drove a turbocharged car in 1989, you needed a nine-band equalizer with analog sliders on the radio. It was the law. It's not rusty, but at 205,575 miles it's worn out. The Japanese-market version was known as the Capella C2, and it boasted some great TV commercials. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. As always, the US-market TV ads are less interesting than their Japanese counterparts.
