Thanks for stopping by: Please note that this car was sold on Ebay 5 days ago and the 0 feedback winning bidder did not submit deposit or payment. The vehicle had over 20 bids and sold for a no reserve price of $2175.00. Quite a bit lower than I would have expected, as it's a great car. Please do not bid if you have 0 or negative feedback. I have a deposit on my new car and I'm forced to do a quick sale AT NO RESERVE.

Your currently viewing my 2004 R2 Mazda rx8. Car regularly serviced and maintained by Pettit Racing in South Florida. The items below have been done to the car in the last year. Too many to list, but here's a summary of the extras we have put on. All original Pettit Racing parts. It's been my daily driver and I'm offering it up for sale to buy newer one.

Brand new obx racing midpipe just installed.

Brand new red top optima battery.

All natural power tuning kit from Pettit racing.

NGK racing new spark plugs and coils just replaced.

EXEDY Racing Rally clutch with new clutch slave cylinder installed three months ago

New aftermarket alloy rims plastidipped black.

the interior is in very nice condition. cloth interior with no tears.

there are a few things that need attention. I'm buying a newer one, need to sell and I'd rather not put the money in, so anyone that wants to own a great car for a unbelievable price - this is it.

Here's what should be done.

It has a small leak of coolant - the radiator should be replaced. (these engines are designed to run rich and the radiator should be replaced ASAP to protect the engine) It runs and drives fine, however I wouldn't chance it by not replacing it soon.

recommend new tires ASAP. The paint has some fading on top from the Florida sun. not something that has to be fixed unless you want to.

needs a new MAF sensor ($200) - cold starts are fine and will idle fine at 1400 rpm but once it gets warm the idle slowly will go down and you sometimes must give it a bit of gas to keep at idle at stop. this just started happening and I can drive it fine, but I would fix it soon.

Lastly,  there is a dent in the front right passenger fender. it's definitely more than just cosmetic but as you can tell from the pics - it's not that visible from the distance. If you want closer pics of that let me know.

I want to be very upfront with the problems the car has, so you know exactly what your getting in to. I'm not a used car dealer as this is a personal vehicle. I have been selling on Ebay for over a decade with 100% FB. My Ebay reputation is more important to me than this sale. So please serious inquiries only.

I get lots of compliments on the looks of the car and the sound of the midpipe. it's really a unique looking car that runs good is fast and fun to drive! Also good on gas. For the few hundred you may end up putting in this car, I promise you will have a very unique car that looks great and stands out. You just cannot find a car this cool, unique and fast for under 3k.

Sell your own: 2004 Mazda RX-8

Fri, Jun 2 2017

Looking to sell your car? We make it both easy and free. Quickly create listings with up to six photos and reach millions of buyers. Log in and create your free listings. Combine "sports car" with "user-friendly" and, in most forums, you have yourself an oxymoron. Sports cars are – by definition – sporty, but rarely do they qualify as easy to use. One that did and, regrettably, has faded from the scene is Mazda's RX-8. Initially launched in 2003, and out of production within roughly a decade, the RX-8 was perhaps the rotary-powered answer to a question few – at the time – were asking. Happily, Mazda produced it anyway. With its front mid-engined platform, freestyle doors and +2 seating, the RX-8 came as close to offering day-in, day-out utility as anything this side of an extended-cab pickup. And its nod to practicality did little, if anything, to diminish the essential goodness of the menu. Mazda's design team provided a high-revving rotary, nimble handling and almost telepathic steering, combining them into a frenzy-filled dollop of locomotion. The result was no more than mildly fast and furious, but in properly motivated hands the RX-8 delivered a high level of entertainment for a relatively modest outlay. This for-sale example, a 2004 RX-8 with automatic transmission, requires just $6,000 and – not incidentally – the ability to buy into its premise. The automatic will be perceived by many to be a negative, but might also suggest a more gentle ownership history. And without benefit of a clutch and shifter, the new owner can concentrate on the driving, with the Mazda's absurdly direct steering and slot-car cornering. The asking price is on the high side (book average is about $5K), but know that similar cars might bring upwards of $8,000. And at 91,000 miles it's been used, but perhaps not used up. Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.
