Selling this awesome 1985 RX7 because I have too many things going on at this time.  This car has been garaged for the past 4 years and used very little.

Motor:  Rotary engine 12a brand new rebuilt with semi-peripheral ports.  Custom housings & intake.  All seals, springs,o-rings, gaskets, etc...  new.  Motor starts on first try & idles nice.  Racing beat aluminum intake manifold customized to semi-peripheral port.  Holley 650 cfm carb custom tuned for this engine.  Headers w/ custom exhaust exiting out back on 3" pipe thru a Racing Beat muffler.  Car is loud, but is like music to the ears of all Rotary engine fans.

Transmission is a 5 speed w/ Racing bronze clutch & racing pressure plate.

Suspension:  Car is a GS model but has a GSL-SE suspension upgrade. 4 wheel disc brakes & thicker axles. 4:11 gears.  Brand new Falken tires all around.

Interior:  Stock original interior is in great shape overall.  Seats are clean & good.  Carpet is clean & good.  Dash has no cracks, but does have some holes from where we had the Autometer gauges once installed.  Does not have it's radio system.  No A/C system.    All glass good.  No power windows.

Exterior & body:   This car is the most sought after model because it has no sunroof & is lighter in weight than all other models.  Cars paint & body are in real good condition.  It does have some small door dings here & there & a small ding on the roof.  Original paint.  Very straight.  NO RUST ANYWHERE!  Hard to find a 27 year old RX7 in this condition.

I have described the car as best I could.  See all the pictures. You should have some knowledge about rotary engines if you want to work on this car yourself.  Car has a new Texas inspection sticker.  All lights  & signals work.  New tires.  Good brakes.  New clutch master cylinder & slave cylinder.  Clear Texas title.

Email me thru Ebay & I'll give you my contact info.  I'll answer all questions you may have.  Car is in a warehouse in Grapevine, TX 76051.  It is being sold AS-IS with NO Warranty Expressed or Implied.  This is not your daily grocery getter, but it's very street-able.  Needs nothing.  VERY CLEAN.

Selling at no reserve.  Contact www.reliableautoshippers.com for a shipping quote. Buyer must pre-pay transport company directly, I want nothing to do with paying shippers.

$ 500.00 deposit at end of auction & balance within 1 week of end of auction.  I can store the car until picked up or transport arranged, but must have payed in full first within a week.  One of the reasons it's for sale is because I need the money. Only seriously bidders, please. Thanks for looking at this auction and happy bidding.

MotorWeek finds nice things to say about the 1993 Ford Probe

Tue, Mar 8 2016

This latest in MotorWeek's series of Retro Reviews continues its recent trend of remembering the massive glut of sports coupes that hit the market in the '90s. While vehicles like the Mitsubishi 3000GT, Mazda RX-7, and Ford Mustang all enjoy solid reputations down to this day, the 1993 Ford Probe, well... doesn't. As you'll soon see, though, the show's opinion suggests the coupe's second generation isn't really all that bad. Turns out they just weren't particularly sporty. Ford and Mazda developed the Probe together, and the Japanese company supplied both the base 115-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder and the 164-hp 2.5-liter V6 in the GT trim. The original's pseudo-angular look gave way to a much smoother shape for the second generation. Of course, pop-up headlights remained, which were a design hallmark for many of this era's sports coupes. After driving it, MotorWeek proclaims the Probe is "a winner" and considers the handling a "delight." That's not a big surprise, considering that in those days, a car had to be really bad not to get a decent review from Television's Original Automotive Magazine. However, the show hints at some of the reasons the coupe isn't so well remembered today. Even the GT reportedly suffers from soft springs and lots of understeer, which sounds like exactly the opposite anyone hoping to drive the coupe enthusiastically would want. To sum it all up, we're sure you're just as happy as we are that Ford went back on its initial plan to shelve the Mustang in favor of the front-drive Probe. Related Video:

Why you absolutely need to take your Miata to a track

Wed, Nov 23 2016

Our long-term 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata entertained us all summer, but we couldn't let the good weather pass without taking a trip to a race track. So we headed to GingerMan Raceway on the other side of Michigan to give it some exercise. It's there that I fell deeper in love with our little silver-white Club and immediately regretted not taking it to the track every single weekend prior. I make a very simple case in the video above: Miatas belong on the track. They're made for it, especially our ND Club, the most track-friendly version Mazda currently makes. The Miata is also a wonderful tool for those learning to drive in these conditions. It gives you good feedback, there isn't too much power available, but the engine's output is plenty to make things entertaining. It's also one of the more balanced performance cars you can buy today and doesn't rely on fancy electronics to go faster – it's a nearly direct connection between you and the car, with no weird intermediaries or adjustable elements. This is really the simplest form of fun. To sum up: If you have a Miata, take it to a track. If you don't have a Miata, go buy one. Watch the video again if you're not convinced. Related Video:

Sweating the small stuff | 2017 Mazda CX-5 First Drive

Mon, Mar 13 2017

The 2017 Mazda CX-5's door handles got their own design study. They got their own graphs, maths, and a team of people scientifically analyzing how humans interact with them. There was a whole to-do. And yet, you look at them back-to-back with their predecessors, a Spockian eyebrow reaching to the stars, and wonder what all the fuss was about. But apparently they're better. They're also perfectly illustrative of the entire effort to re-engineer and improve Mazda's best-selling model. At first, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 seems like a sensible evolution of its well-loved predecessor – there's sexier styling, a more premium cabin, and additional features, but the dimensions and engine specs look awfully similar. It certainly looks like one of those "the old car's great, let's not overthink the new one" redesigns. Except it isn't. Dig deeper and you'll see just how much meticulous work – from the door handles to the throttle response – went into making the new CX-5 a crossover that thoroughly trounces the majority of its competition. Take the efforts to make it quieter. According to Mazda's internal measurements, the sound-quelling improvements made for the CX-5's 2016 refresh already made it one of the quietest compact SUVs on the market. That apparently wasn't good enough. To what seems like an absurd degree, Mazda's engineers obsessively examined every nook, cranny, corner, and crevice to sniff out noise and eliminate it. Gaps were filled, insulation was injected, seals were added, air was redirected, glass was double glazed, and carpet replaced plastic coverings. It would seem that the Society of Persnickety Engineers is well represented at Mazda HQ. "I'm not sure how they found some of these," said Mazda vehicle development engineer Dave Coleman with a shake of his head, almost amused by the obsession and dedication of his colleagues across the proverbial hall in the sound-deadening department. (He goes over many of their enhancements in the video below.) And it worked. The new CX-5 is indeed incredibly quiet, even on San Diego's notoriously loud corrugated concrete freeways. It is quiet for a Mazda – a brand previously known for the exact opposite – and the entire segment. Even the fairly quiet 2017 Honda CR-V we drove on the same freeways on the way to San Diego couldn't match it. Actually, much of the driving experience can't be matched by a competitor.
