1994 Mazda Rx-7 Touring Coupe 2-door 1.3l on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
|
Overview The Mazda RX7 was only sold in the US from 1993-1995. The production number was only 13,879 in total, with only 3403 in 1994. Of those 3403 in 1994 only 118 of them came in the Silver Stone Metallic with the Touring Package and a manual transmission. And of those 118 only 16 came with the red interior. 1994 was the last year for the Touring Package option, also the last year the red leather was offered as an option, and the first year the Silver Stone Metallic was available. They softened the suspension in 1994 for the Base and Touring models. Added in 1994 also was a passenger side airbag, map pockets, and one touch driver’s side window switch. To say the car here for sale is rare would be an understatement. Not only would you be hard pressed to find another with the same options and color scheme, you won’t find one in this condition and with this low of miles. This car has been very well cared for its entire life. It has been in single ownership since new. It was garage kept, driven sparingly every year, and never in anything other than sunshine. The front chin spoiler has not been scraped on any low driveways. Every wheel is in like new condition and wrapped in like new P225/50R16 Goodyear Eagle tires. There is a dealer installed wind deflector on the glass moonroof, with the white Mazda stamp still visible. All gaps are good, doors shut properly, and hood/trunk fit is good as well. It has the optional rear window wiper and washer. There is also a period cell phone antenna on the rear window. Interior The interior in this RX7 is absolutely stunning. As it should be with only a mere 12,000 miles on the car. It has never been repaired or replaced, it is all the original leather and trim. The red leather seats are in amazing condition. They were very well cared for. There is not one sign of discoloration or cracks. The leather is very soft and clean. There are not any stains or spots in the carpet or the optional floor mats. The 2 rear compartments are clean and have no scratches in the plastic trim. The storage compartment on the driver’s door still has its little door. It has the optional rear cargo cover. The center console is like new. The ashtray is clean, the owner was not a smoker. The pedals are drilled aluminum. All the electronics work perfectly. The interior of this car is in simply amazing condition. It does have a period cell phone docking station on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel. Mechanical's The twin turbo 2 cylinder Rotary 1.3 liter engine runs as strong as the day it was built. It pulls like a super car. 0-60 MPH time in the mid-5 second range with 255 BHP and 160 MPH top speed. It has excellent oil pressure. The cooling system works perfectly. Electric fans are in proper working condition, coolant is clean, and there is zero smoke or smells. It has only had premium fuel in its tank. It only has 12,000 original miles on it. All the routine services done to the motor were performed by Mazda, according to the original owner. The turbos are in excellent working condition. The car has zero leaks. Mazda's Tokyo concept foretells of rotary revival
Tue, Oct 27 2015Mazda has long been rumored to be planning a revival of its rotary-powered sports car. Some of those rumors may have come down to wishful thinking as much as concrete information. But now, on the eve of the Tokyo Motor Show, new details have come to light. The Japanese automaker is slated to unveil a two-door sports car concept, previewed in the teaser image above. Little in the way of firm information has been made available prior to the show car's debut, but sources are now citing senior company officials as confirming it has a rotary engine. "It is a two-door, two-seater, Mazda CEO Masamichi Kogai told Autocar. "It is a pure sports car design. We have MX-5 and another icon is a rotary sports car. We haven't talked about market reach but this would be in that segment." R&D chief Kiyoshi Fujiwara added: "People think rotary can not meet modern eco demands. The SkyActiv engineers worked on rotary and gave it cutting-edge tech. It is an essential part of our DNA and it [will] just be passed onto future engineers. It is synonymous with the brand. Some time in the future it will return and be called SkyActiv-R." The last time Mazda produced a rotary-powered model, of course, was with the RX-8, which ended production in 2012. That was preceded by three generations of RX-7, the first of which will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2018. If it manages to get the Wankel technology up to modern standards, that could provide just the right opportunity for Mazda to launch a new model. Reached for comment, Mazda spokesman Jacob Brown told Autoblog: "While we can confirm that Mazda continues to develop rotary engines, we cannot confirm production of a rotary at this point. Rotaries are one of the signature engineering technologies that define Mazda, and we will continue exploring them to see where they may fit for production applications." Related Video:
2020 Mazda6 Review & Buying Guide | Still at the top
Fri, Apr 3 2020The 2020 Mazda6 should be on anybody’s sedan shortlist. ItÂ’s modern and attractive both inside and out. The ride and handling balance is unmatched by anything short of the 2020 Honda Accord, and itÂ’s priced well alongside all of its tough competition. An Accord is still the only one in this segment to offer a manual transmission for enthusiasts who care to shift themselves, but the Mazda6 with the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is still plenty of fun with its smart-shifting six-speed auto. Mazda has also succeeded in putting together a luxurious interior — highlighted by the Signature trim — that outdoes the more pedestrian interiors found in other pricey mid-size sedans. Tons of work was put into the Mazda6 to make it more refined and premium, and itÂ’s worked. Downsides are few in number, but if the Mazda6 suffers anywhere, itÂ’s in the infotainment and utility departments. The software Mazda uses is old and antiquated compared to its new system in the Mazda3 and CX-30, as well as those in the Accord, Hyundai Sonata and others. The trunk is also smaller than most in this segment. Those may be deal breakers for some, but people who value an engaging driving experience will appreciate it for its sharp steering and agile chassis, and those who could care less will still love it for the refinement and comfort. WhatÂ’s new for 2020? There isnÂ’t much new for the 2020 Mazda6 this year. Mazda says itÂ’s switched to the key fob design used on the Mazda3 and CX-30, and thereÂ’s also a new “Signature” badge for the top trim. Besides that, the car carries over unchanged from 2019. 2020 Mazda6 Signature View 57 Photos WhatÂ’s the interior and in-car technology like? The 2020 Mazda6Â’s interior is simple and beautiful. Mazda has upped its interior quality game beyond the competition, and itÂ’s accomplished this without pricing the sedan out of the ballpark. Comfortable chairs make long rides a breeze as does the hushed cabin noise. From lower trims on up, the cabin looks and feels of a high quality. Even the basic entry-level Sport trim has an excellent interior that goes above the more basic furnishings of competitors, while on the other end of the spectrum, the Signature boasts rich suede-like cloth and beautiful Sen wood to create an environment encroaching on the luxury segment. However, MazdaÂ’s infotainment system is way behind compared to others in the segment.
The 2020 Mazda CX-30 will start at $22,945 with 2.5L power
Wed, Nov 20 2019We saw the CX-30 debut in Geneva earlier this year, and now Mazda has made its U.S. specification and pricing official. To get right down to it, the new crossover that splits the small end of the company’s crossover lineup will start at $22,945. We also have some solid information about spec and trim levels for our market, with some notable differences to how it can be equipped in Europe in particular. For one, like the latest Mazda3, it can only be equipped with a 186 horsepower 2.5-liter engine (naturally-aspirated, to be clear). Europeans can get a range of engines, and our neighbors in Canada and Mexico can get a 2.0-liter gas engine. A six-speed automatic is similarly our only transmission choice. All trims are available with front- or all-wheel drive. No word on whether the (somewhat underwhelming) Skyactiv-D diesel or (rather incredible) Skyactiv-X compression-ignition engines will be available. The materials Mazda provided us ahead of the CX-30Â’s U.S. debut focus heavily on the vehicleÂ’s standard equipment, including the now standard Mazda Connected Services — offering a variety of remote functionality and monitoring via the MyMazda app. Nothing you wouldnÂ’t expect from this sort of connectivity feature, including remote start and lock/unlock, as well as a WiFi hotspot (via Verizon, which is the parent company of Autoblog) and emergency assistance calls. Note that itÂ’s a three-year free trial; after that it becomes a subscription service, with a price weÂ’ll share with you once we learn it. There are four trims for the CX-30. The base model has some decent standard equipment: an 8.8-inch infotainment display, automatic headlights and the standard i-Activsense safety suite including driver inattention alert, radar cruiser control, lane departure warning with lane keeping assist, emergency braking assist and automatic high beams. Notably, blind spot monitoring is not available in the base model; buyers will have to step up to the next trim, Select, to get that safety feature. WeÂ’re disappointed that itÂ’s not standard across the board. So too with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, also only available on Select and above. The Select trim is $24,945, and provides those features mentioned above as well as leatherette seats, keyless entry and 18-inch wheels. The Preferred trim ($27,245) provides upgraded audio, heated front seats, a power driver seat, a black gloss grille and a SiriusXM trial.
