Two very minor dents, neither of which have chipped the original paint."

I am selling my 1993 Mazda RX7 that is in incredible shape.  Pictures nor words will do this car justice.  The chassis has ~100K miles and the body is 100% original with incredible original paint.  The body has two very minor dings from a door or similar over the years but neither has chipped the paint.  There is one spot about the size of golf ball on the rear bumper cover where the clear coat has faded (and only in this one spot).   Interior is in perfect shape and everything works.  Sound system is a Kenwood head unit with sub and amp.  Very nice quality sound throughout the car.  Absolutely nothing is flawed inside the car. All doors, deck and hood open and close easily and solidly.  Not a spec of rust anywhere on the car.  Bilstein shocks and lowering springs (done right) all the way around the car.  Larger cross drilled and vented rotors with Mazda racing calipers at all four corners.  Light weight SSR wheels all the way around with Yokohama rubber.  The rear tires should be replaced as they are worn.  (honestly, this car will spin the tires under moderate acceleration in 2nd gear, no burnouts have ever been done since I have owned the car).

Engine modified and rebuilt 13K miles ago with over $13K of receipts. Some of the modifications are as follows:

  • Apexi ECU and Power Commander Programmer (if you don't know what this is, you really need to check it out)
  • Greddy Profec Spec S electronic boost controller (set to 12 psi and easily capable of 17 psi without an effort) to control peak boost and ramp rate of the boost
  • Stock Twin Turbos upgraded to a single GT35R turbo
  • Greddy BOV
  • Greddy aluminum induction tube
  • Ported and polished throttle body
  • Street ported rotor housings
  • Ported and polished oil passages
  • Large Nippondenso injectors
  • All vacuum lines replaced / minimized
  • Twin oil coolers
  • Huge air to air inter-cooler
  • HKS ignition
  • Racing Beat Exhaust
  • 4.30:1 gears

Enough of the parts info....  Here is what you really want to know:  This thing is ridiculously fast.  This is NOT a car for a kid or even a young adult.  I've drag raced in the NMRA for years and this street car has more rolling power and acceleration than my 10.31 second Mustang.  The kicker is this car handles like a road course car.  It was actually built and owned by the previous local president of the RX7 club who also had his own rotary performance distribution store.  This car was his show car but was built to run and not just shine.  The car pumps 420hp to the tires as it is right now.  Turn up the boost and it is just plain uncontrollable and dangerous.  It is the most fun car I have EVER owned and I don't really want to sell it but I know I will either kill myself in the car or get my license taken away so I am trying to do the responsible thing and sell the car before its too late (one way or another).

The absolute only things wrong with the car is a very tiny chip in the windshield and it has the typical 5th gear grind when engaging 5th gear (however 5th is only used at 70+ and there is no hesitation, just a small grind the second it is going in)

Everywhere I go, this car gets a ton of attention.  Non-stop compliments are a given.  Embarrassing Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros and even motorcycles at will is a given as well.  This car has a slightly better power to weight ratio as a crotch rocket bike.  The ONLY challenge is getting the tires to stay planted.  It was not a cliche' when I said it will light up the tires at the top of 2nd when the boost is at full bore.

Now for the rules:

This car is my pride and joy, I welcome anyone to come look at the car but no one will be allowed to drive the car until cash in hand.

Local pick up only.

The car CAN be driven anywhere, it does not get hot.

I will not ship the car but I will help you get the car picked up if you do the shipping logistics details.

$500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal at the time of auction end, pick up and full payment CASH within 7 days.

Please do not waste my time if you can't afford the car.

2019 Mazda3 shows off factory bodykit, Miata gets a hardtop at Tokyo Auto Salon

Wed, Dec 19 2018

The 2019 Mazda3 wasn't exactly lacking in the sporty style department when it was shown last month in L.A. But everyone, including Mazda, knows that doesn't mean it can't be even sportier. As such, the company is showing off a version of the new compact hatchback at Tokyo Auto Salon, a modified car and aftermarket parts show, with a body kit. It's a subtle one, consisting of a black front lip spoiler, black side skirts, and a longer, slightly upturned rear spoiler. Its low-key design fits in well with the Mazda3's taut, clean lines, and it makes the car look lower and more purposeful. The Mazda3 isn't the only car getting some love at the Tokyo Auto Salon. The company will display an MX-5 Miata with a removable hardtop made of carbon fiber. Now, you may remember that Mazda does offer a hardtop, but just for racing drivers. That top is a bit odd looking with a really high rear-end to clear motorsports-spec roll bars and cages. This top follows the lines of the roadster's soft top, looking much more sleek. Neither sets of parts here have been announced for production, but we wouldn't be surprised to see them show up as Mazda accessories. The Mazda3 body kit in particular seems a shoe-in, since the previous generation Mazda3 had a very similar appearance package available. The Miata top certainly seems as though it was designed with regular consumers in mind. Its future is less certain, though. For one thing, Mazda can point to the Miata RF if you want a solid roof. Then again, Mazda still offered a removable hardtop for conventional Miata roadsters even after the original power-retractable hardtop model was introduced. If it does come to market, though, expect it to be made from more affordable fiberglass and be painted in factory colors. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Mazda plans a new crossover for 2021

Sat, Nov 25 2017

If Mazda is going to increase sales, it's going to need more crossovers. According to company CEO Masamichi Kogai, a new crossover that won't cannibalize sales of the CX-3, CX-5, and CX-9 is coming in 2021, to be built at the new U.S. factory Mazda is building in partnership with Toyota. The plant will be able to build 150,000 vehicles per year, and that full capacity will be reserved for the new CUV. With 112,235 units sold, Mazda's best-selling vehicle in the United States last year was, not surprisingly, the CX-5. With that in mind, it seems a safe bet that the new crossover will be a replacement for the discontinued CX-7 to slot above the CX-5 and below the CX-9. Kogai told Automotive News that the vehicle will be designed for America and built exclusively in the States. "We are actually going to introduce a totally new and different type of SUV," said Kogai. We don't know exactly what that means, but we hope the new model line follows Mazda's tradition of crossovers that are more fun to drive than their main competitors. Related Video:

2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature AWD diesel unveiled in New York

Wed, Apr 17 2019

NEW YORK —It seems like we've been waiting forever, but the wait is finally over. Mazda has finally launched a diesel version of the CX-5 for the U.S. market, unveiled at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. Specifically, the 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D turbo-diesel engine will be offered in the higher-end CX-5 Signature AWD, part of what Mazda calls its "path to premium," as the company continues to set its sights on some of the more expensive competition. The Skyactiv-D 2.2 makes use of a sequential twin turbocharger that employs a smaller turbocharger first at low rpm for quick throttle response, after which a valve opens to spool up a larger turbocharger at higher rpm. Mazda says this provides "smooth and linear response from low to high engine speeds, and greatly increases low- and high-end torque." Mazda estimates the output of the engine to be 168 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 290 pound-feet of torque from a low 2,000 rpm. The engine has a rev limit of 5,500 rpm. As of right now, it's only in the all-wheel-drive version and only in the Signature trim level. As such, it gets a ho-hum EPA fuel economy rating of 27 mpg city, 30 highway and 28 combined. We previously saw fuel economy figures for a potential front-drive diesel CX-5 getting just slightly better fuel economy, at 28 city, 31 highway and 29 combined, but no word yet on if and when that'll be made available. The mediocre diesel fuel economy, while expected given the midstream shift from one emissions strategy to another, is particularly disappointing in context. The non-turbo CX-5 AWD, which makes 187 hp and 186 lb-ft, gets 24 city and 30 highway for 26 combined mpg – just 3 mpg less in the city and 2 mpg less overall than the diesel. The much more powerful CX-5 Turbo, which makes 250 hp and 310 lb-ft, gets 22 city, 27 highway, and 24 combined. Mazda is taking pre-orders for the 2019 CX-5 Signature AWD with Skyactiv-D 2.2 starting now, at an MSRP of $42,045, including $1,045 in destination fees. We have to point out that this is a sizable jump in MSRP from a CX-5 Signature AWD with the more powerful turbo engine, which lists for $38,235 – a $3,810 difference in fact. Given the lackluster fuel economy and considerable decrease in power and torque, we're concerned that the diesel may be a tough sell at this sort of premium.
