1988 Mazda Rx-7, All Original, 60,000 Miles, Original Paint, Cold A/c, Excellent on 2040-cars

This is a NO RESERVE listing.
This is my 1988 Mazda RX-7 GXL 5-speed coupe with 60,342 original miles. This has got to be one of the cleanest, most-original, best-condition 2nd-generation RX-7 models for sale in the country. Not many of these cars exist with such low miles, original paint and in superb mechanical condition- this car is outstandingly nice. This car has the following equipment and options:
I have the original books, manuals and dealer brochures with the car as well as two keys. This car is in exceptional condition for its age. This car hasn't been modified, hacked up or molested in any way. This is a completely stock, original-condition car that runs and drives perfectly. I would trust this car to drive across the country if someone wanted to. The paint and body of this car are in quite good condition for a 1988 vehicle. The paint is original, and the car hasn't been in any known accidents. The paint looks superb for it's age, with excellent gloss and very few stone nicks and no major problems. The body is clean and very nice. The aluminum wheels are in very good condition, the glass is all good and the tires are nearly brand new. The interior of this RX-7 is very well-preserved and in great condition. The seats, upholstery and carpets are original and they are clean and aren't ripped up or worn out. The seat fabric is very nice and the carpets and even the factory "RX-7" floormats look nice. All of the switchgear, buttons and interior hardware are clean and aren't worn out and nothing is missing or broken. All the interior buttons and switches are working, as well as all of the gauges. The warning lights on the dashboard and gauge cluster are all working properly when the key is turned forward, and they all properly go out when the car is started. This RX-7 runs and drives beautifully. This is a tight, stable, nimble and fun-to-drive car that drives exactly how you would expect a 60,000 mile car to drive. The rotary engine starts perfectly and it doesn't smoke or leak, and it makes plenty of power. The engine doesn't burn oil nor coolant nor does it smoke even under full throttle. The engine revs to 2800 rpm when starting just as it should, and then settles down into a smooth idle. The transmission shifts well and the clutch is strong. The steering is tight, and the handling is excellent. The brakes are smooth and powerful and they stop the car very well. This is a super-driving, rewarding, fun car that runs and drives just as it should. I know of no mechanical or electrical problems, and everything is working- the air conditioning, the factory radio and EQ, the power locks and windows, the front and rear windshield wipers, the trunk hatch release, the sunroof, the headlight motors, etc, etc. This is a 1988 car and as such it is not a brand-new car. Here is a complete list of everything I know of wrong with the car, no matter how minor: you have to help the sunroof up when opening it- just push up gently while holding the button- after that the motors power it back just fine and it closes just fine. There are many dings on the sides of the car, mostly above the beltline and more on the passenger side- this is what I'd call "garage wear". These dings could of course be fixed but then the car wouldn't have original paint- that's why I've elected to leave them alone- the new owner may feel differently. There is a small split in the vinyl side panel of the outside of the driver's seat- you can see this clearly in the photo. There is some paint checking on the driver's side. There is a tiny bit of surface rust due to some stone nicks on the inside lip of the right rear wheel well that has been brush-touched (otherwise the car is rust-free). You can't rush the 1-2 shift under very high rpms, you need to shift relatively slowly- under normal lower-rpm driving there is no issue at all. There is a defroster vent at the left corner of the dash that is missing its louvers. One "Mazda" center cap is missing from the aluminum wheels. That's it. This is a super clean, beautiful condition RX-7 for the age. This car is kept in my climate-controlled garage in Willoughby, OH. You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home if you wish. Alternatively, you can have the car shipped. Please call Angels Moving Autos at 530-245-0481 for a shipping quote. Questions, please email me or call/text me at 440-339-4341. |

2019 Mazda CX-5 Turbo First Drive Review | Two-row crossover perfection
Fri, Feb 15 2019Listen: If you're shopping for a crossover, and by all accounts most Americans are, there is no better option on the market than the 2019 Mazda CX-5. When we test drove the all-new 2017 CX-5, we were astounded by its marked improvements over the already-great previous generation. We noted then its biggest drawback was its average 187 horsepower. The CX-5 didn't feel slow, and it certainly made up for it in other ways, like by delivering superior road-hugging abilities. But, it was probably enough to turn off buyers who do their shopping by analyzing spec sheets. For 2019, Mazda addressed that exact issue with a vengeance. With an all-new 2.5-liter SkyActiv Turbo good for 250 horsepower, the CX-5 not only leapfrogs bestselling rivals like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, but lands squarely in the realm of luxury stalwarts such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. When we drove the 2017 CX-5, we likened the handling to that of a Porsche Macan. Now it has the power to match. Among its direct competition, only the 2019 Toyota RAV4 breaks the 200-horsepower mark, ringing in at 203 (and the Hybrid makes an even more impressive 219 ponies), while the Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester and VW Tiguan all sit between 180 and 190. Now, to get the full herd you must fill the tank with 93 octane premium, but if you don't mind leaving a few ponies in the stable you can pump 87 octane for a slight dip to 227 horsepower. The engine adjusts with no ill effects. Even better, torque stays the same no matter what, and the stump-pulling 310 pound-feet of torque comes quick at just 2,000 rpm. The SkyActiv turbo is full of clever engineering tricks, too. There's an exhaust port restrictor, for instance, a narrower channel used only at low engine speeds. Mazda engineer Dave Coleman likened it to a thumb over a firehose, making more exhaust pressure at idle to spool up the turbo, and thus delivering more oomph when you take off from a standstill. Mazdafarians will recognize the mill as the same one that debuted on the 2018 Mazda6. It powers the CX-9 too, Mazda's highly acclaimed three-row crossover. The 3,825-pound CX-5 has 558 fewer pounds to shuffle around than its larger stablemate, making it downright snappy. However, that extra pep does come with a fuel economy penalty, 22 city and 27 highway mpg versus the naturally aspirated version's 24 city and 30 highway mpg.
Next-gen Mazda6 reportedly getting RWD, straight-six it shares with Toyota
Tue, Apr 14 2020Last June, Japan's Best Car magazine laid out what we considered a whopper series of rumors about future Mazda developments. The mag said it had been speaking to a Toyota source on an unrelated matter, and found out that Mazda's work on a straight-six Skyactiv engine was predicated on that engine's use in Toyota Group vehicles, including Lexus models. Car and Driver has apparently consulted its own sources, and in a new report utters many of the same pronouncements as Best Car. The next-generation Mazda6, due around 2022, will molt out of its transverse engines on a front-driver platform, and be the first home for the longitudinally-mounted straight-six on the automaker's new rear-wheel drive "Large Architecture." The gas-powered Skyactiv-X six-cylinder, a shade under 3 liters of displacement, will get help from a 48-volt hybrid system, and top output could hit 350 horsepower. A second straight-six will come in an oil-burning Skyactiv-D flavor, and PHEVs are certain to eventually factor into the equations. The sheetmetal around the bodywork will draw inspiration from the four-door Mazda Vision Coupe concept that debuted at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Describing a scenario we can only cross our fingers for, C/D writes "there's a chance Mazda will mimic Lexus and put inline-six into both four- and two-door bodies," grabbing another unused concept as a design guide for the latter, the two-door RX Vision concept from the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. C/D suspects the increasing cooperation between Mazda and Toyota will not only pay the bills for Mazda's sports sedan, but compel the Large Architecture to take a couple of side jobs in Toyota City. C/D writes, "Toyota may adopt the six-cylinder Skyactiv-X for the next-generation Lexus IS and RC." According to the recently leaked dealer report, the next-gen IS could be with us in 2021 as a 2022MY offering. Betting money seems to be on the sedan sticking with Toyota's TNGA platform and Lexus engines until a brand new model shows around 2026, though.
2020 Mazda CX-30 shows off new appearance package at Tokyo Auto Salon
Fri, Jan 10 2020Following its introduction at the Geneva Motor Show last year, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 has appeared at the Tokyo Auto Salon wearing some new duds. The automaker developed a body kit for the compact crossover that's going on sale in Japan. The complete kit includes a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser panel, rear spoiler, wheels and mirror caps. The body kit is stylish and subtle. The silver accents help it stand out against the plastic body cladding of the stock CX-30. It also has some faux aluminum "skid plate" sections on the front and rear so that people still recognize it as a crossover, even though it looks lower and sportier. Although the kit has only been announced in Japan for now, we expect it will eventually be available in the U.S. just as the Mazda3 appearance package did. The complete kit is priced at $3,147 at current exchange rates, and it's discounted over the price if you were to buy each part individually. That price could change for the American market if or when it's offered here. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
