For sale: 1987 Mazda RX-7 with a Chevrolet V-8 and five speed transmission. This car is in very good/excellent condition with only 42,744 miles. I purchased it from the original owner and have all of the original paperwork for the car (warranty cards, window sticker, owner manuals - even a Mazda first aid kit). It has never been painted or touched up - the body and paint are original (no bondo). It looks like it came out of a time-capsule...even the door latches look like new (see photos). The interior is also in very good/excellent condition. There are no wear marks on the original seats and the carpets still look like new with no signs of wear. The car has never been smoked in so it still smells like a 42,000 mile car. The undercarriage is as clean as the rest of the car - there are no rust holes and it has never been repaired (see photos).
The Vortec 350 V-8 is a low milage engine that came from a Chevrolet truck (roller-cam version). A V-8 conversion kit, from Granny Speed Shop, was used. The engine was partially disassembled, new gaskets and seals were installed and it was re-painted. A new Weiand aluminum intake was installed as well as a new carburator. A new polished Weiand water-pump, new alternator, new a/c compressor, new harmonic balancer, new oil pump and new timing chain were also installed. A new/complete MSD ignition system (ignition box, coil, distributor and wires), new "turbo model" fuel pump and a new fuel pressure regulator was put on. The cooling system was upgraded with a new aluminum radiator and fan. The car runs in the center of the guage, between hot and cold, at all times. The transmission is a Borg/Warner T-5 from a late model Camaro - it also received new seals, the flywheel was re-surfaced, new Zoom Kevlar clutch, new throwout bearing, new slave cylinder and new master cylinder for the hydraulic clutch. The driveshaft was also replaced with a new/heavier version. The exhaust is new/custom and exits in the stock location. The mufflers are Hooker Aero-chambers.
The brake system was upgraded with a new master cylinder, new brake calipers, new brake pads, new stainless steel lines (replace rubber lines) and new drilled/slotted rotors. The wheels and tires were also upgraded - I have the original aluminum wheels with new tires that will be included in the sale.
The car has a/c that was working when the rotary engine was removed - I have installed a new a/c condensor, a/c dryer and a/c compressor. I also replaced the o-rings so that the car can be converted to R134a. A local shop is currently making the a/c lines for the firewall and a/c dryer - I will include them in the sale also when they are completed.
I will provide my phone number to potential buyers with any questions - just e-mail me your contact information. I will also assist with shipping however any costs will be the buyers responsibility. A deposit is required at the end of the auction. The car currently has an antique registration plate that will be included in the sale to another PA. resident.
Thanks for looking and good luck...

Mazda MX-30 electric car production begins: Will it get the rotary range extender?
Thu, May 21 2020Mazda has officially started production of the electric MX-30. For the time being, the small electric car hasn’t been announced for the U.S. yet. Mazda hasnÂ’t declared otherwise, though, so we still have our hopes up. The first MX-30s are rolling off the line in Hiroshima, Japan. Europe will be one of the first places where these MX-30s end up. The car starts at GBP30,495 in the UK and ˆ33,990 in Germany. That's around $38,000. Certainly expensive, but the price would surely be different here, plus weÂ’d be eligible for the full $7,500 tax credit. Those lucky European customers will be met with an electric car that likes to do things a little differently than others. The modest 35.5 kWh battery pack is good for just 124 miles on EuropeÂ’s optimistic WLTP testing cycle. It would surely achieve a much lower number in the EPA test. Mazda has made it front-wheel drive, placing a single motor on the front axle thatÂ’s good for 143 horsepower. We expect to see the first ones hit the streets in Europe this fall, but thereÂ’s one thing that makes us hold out hope for an American MX-30: the potential for a rotary range extender. Mazda said as much in its 100-year celebration letter: “Later, the company developed a prototype Mazda2 EV with a small single-rotor engine used as a range extender. A similar system could find its way onto the Mazda MX-30, a brand new battery electric crossover SUV arriving at dealerships this year." Assuming Mazda goes through with a rotary range extender, we could see this car coming to the American market. That would up the range considerably and make it a much more viable option for many customers, even if they might not need the added range on a daily basis. Related video:

Mazda 787B and Vision Gran Turismo tower over Goodwood in 131-foot sculpture
Thu, Jun 25 2015Mazda is being honored at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed by getting the space to create the event's annual sculpture outside Goodwood House. Given this year's theme of "Flat-out and fearless: racing on the edge," the Japanese automaker is showing off two of its racers at the very top of an intertwined spire that rises over 131 feet above the motoring event. The statue's design is the work of artist Gerry Judah, and it's made from over 132 tons of steel, including 418 beams, towering over the event. A Mazda 787B, the only Japanese car to ever score an overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the company's LM55 Vision Gran Turismo concept are featured at the very top. Spectators can certainly get a good view of the racers, too, because the sculpture twists to actually hang the cars above visitors. "Gerry has faithfully expressed our brand in a striking and beautiful structure that is clearly Kodo. There is a lightness and strength to the sculpture, yet it gives the cars movement and energy," said Ikuo Maeda, the General Manager of the Design Division at Mazda, in the announcement about the statue. Each year, Goodwood selects an automaker to create an artistic piece with the brand's vehicles outside of the estate's manor. Mazda shares some very prestigious company in being picked, too. Often rising high into the sky, in the past we've seen outstanding work from Audi, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, and Porsche. Goodwood celebrates Mazda's motorsport heritage Mazda is the subject of the central feature at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed Immense sculpture features Le Mans-winning Mazda 787B and LM55 virtual racer Goodwood / Leverkusen, 25 June 2015. Mazda's racing heritage is the centre of attention at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The central feature of the annual motoring event is a spectacular 40-metre high sculpture in front of Goodwood House featuring two Mazda racers bursting into the sky on a twisting track of steel beams. Inspired by Mazda's KODO – Soul of Motion design, the creation of artist Gerry Judah conveys a grace and agility that disguises the complexity of the installation, which is made from 120 tonnes of steel. Each of the 418 steel beams is stacked at a different angle, curling the structure so that the cars at the top actually hang over the spectators below.
