1985 Mazda Rx-7 Gsl-se Coupe 2-door 1.3l on 2040-cars
Snohomish, Washington, United States
1985 Mazda RX-7 RX7
GSL-SE This is
originally a California car and is just out of storage. It was stored in an
enclosed trailer in California for eight years before I purchased the car. The
car retains all of its original paint and original equipment (the only thing
that isn't original to the car is the radio). It has been well cared for and
maintained. The car runs, drives and
stops perfectly. The tires are in excellent shape with lots of tread left.
There are two sun roofs, one glass and one that is the body color of the car. The car
drives smoothly, brakes straight and accelerates like it should. On the
freeway, the car tracks straight, true and smooth. The engine does not and has not
ever exhibited any of the flooding problems that so many others experience with
the 13B fuel injected engine. The engine runs well and has plenty of power and
revs smoothly. The engine starts immediately, and there is no smoke from the
engine either on start up or while driving. The air
conditioning blows cold, the heater blows hot, the cruise control works and the
clock keeps time. The electric windows work, but are a little slow going up.
Since there is an aftermarket radio, the center console four-way speaker
control is not connected. The electric antenna does not raise up, but I have a brand
new replacement electric antenna still in the box that will be included with
the sale of the car. Overall the
exterior of the car is in excellent condition. There are some rock chips on the
nose and a couple of door dings, things that you would expect for a car that is
30 years old, but overall, the paint is all original and in really good
condition, as can be seen the pictures. The flat black window trim could
probably use a repaint, but it is just wind-worn and I’ll leave that up to the
new owner to repaint or leave as is. I wanted to leave it as original as
possible for the new owner. All the glass is in good shape and there are no
cracks. There is one small rock chip in the windshield on the passenger side
that is not very noticeable. The interior is in very good condition. The only
flaw is the steering wheel. The top of the steering wheel looks as if someone
chewed off the top of it. As mentioned earlier, the only non-stock item in the
interior is the radio. The carpets are in very good condition, having been
protected by aftermarket floor mats. The seat upholstery is in excellent
condition. The seats travel easily in their tracks and the seat back
adjustments work as they should. Included
with the car is a front nose “Bra” in like new condition (not installed) and
louvers for the rear hatch (also not installed). I have a
clear Washington state title in my name. The car is available for viewing by
appointment and I encourage you to do so. Down payment to be made by Paypal. Balance of the sale amount to to be paid by cashier's check within 7 days of the auction end. Shipping is
the responsibility of the buyer, including shipping arrangements and costs. I
will assist with the shipping on my end to the best of my ability. I will store
the car for up to two weeks after the end of the auction to allow for time to
arrange shipping. |

Mazda's Tokyo concepts have us wishing for more Mazdaspeed
Wed, Dec 30 2015It's been a while since we've seen any new Mazdaspeed machinery, and we're sorry to report that today isn't the day the wait ends. But if you want to see what they might look like based on Mazda's latest models, the Tokyo Auto Salon will be the place to be in a couple of weeks. Turns out the Zoom-Zoom brand has a whole raft of performance models in store for the aftermarket expo. Most intriguing to our eyes is the trio of Racing concepts – one based on the MX-5 Miata roadster, one on the CX-3 crossover, and one on the Mazda6 sedan. Each is done up in black with full aero kit, new rolling stock, and Alcantara interior. An adjustable suspension is the big change to the MX-5 – known simply as the Mazda Roadster in Japan – which also features red trim. As does the CX-3, while the Atenza (which we know as the Mazda6) goes for a more monochromatic, murdered-out appearance. The rally-prepped Mazda2 (known domestically as the Demio) focuses on a stripped-out interior with bucket seats, racing harnesses and a roll cage. There's a spec racing MX-5 in white livery with roll cage and tow hooks as well to join the Global Cup roadster we've already seen. That also goes for the RX-Vision and LM55 Vision Grand Turismo concepts which have already made the rounds but will be on display at the Tokyo salon as well. But it's those three Racing concepts that leave us salivating for production performance models to come – and hopefully come to North America in the process. Related Video:
Turbocharged 2018 Mazda6 EPA mileage figures released
Tue, Feb 13 2018A few months after the reveal of the new turbocharged variant of the Mazda6, we now know how much more fuel the force-fed family sedan will require. The EPA rating puts it at 31 mpg on the highway, 23 in the city and 26 combined. That is less than the naturally aspirated model with either an automatic transmission or a manual, the former of which gets 35 mpg highway, 26 in town and 29 combined. But the naturally aspirated Mazda6's 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque are well short of the turbo engine's 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet. The turbo Mazda6's fuel economy also puts it right in the range of similarly powerful sedans in the mid-size arena. In fact, almost every 2018 2.0-liter turbocharged sedan in the segment gets 26 mpg combined, including Kia Optima, Hyundai Sonata, Chevy Malibu, Buick Regal, and most versions of the Honda Accord, with only a difference of 1 or 2 mpg in city or highway results. The V6 Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima also hit this 26 mpg fuel economy mark. As far as power is concerned, the Mazda6 is also very even with the competition, most of which makes right around 250 horsepower, though the Toyota Camry's naturally aspirated V6 is a class-leader at 301 horsepower. But the 6's advantage is in torque. None of the mainstream family sedans touch the Mazda's whopping 310 pound-feet. The 2.0-liter Honda Accord and Ford Fusion come the closest at 273 and 275 pound-feet respectively. To beat the Mazda6 would require going for the Ford Fusion Sport, which is a unique step up in the segment with a turbocharged V6 making 380 pound-feet. The Fusion Sport takes a serious hit in the fuel economy department, though, getting just 20 mpg combined. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Mazda to use rotary engine as a range-extender with its first electric vehicle
Sat, Oct 28 2017There's more news from Mazda at the Tokyo Motor Show, where the brand made a big splash, including new developments in its never-ending rotary engine saga. First, Mazda execs confirmed that the Japanese automaker will bring back the rotary engine as a range-extender and battery juicer for its first electric vehicle in 2019. But secondly, the company won't have a rotary-powered successor to its RX-7 and RX-8 sportscars in time for the company's centennial anniversary in 2020. Autoblog previously confirmed that Mazda is planning to have an EV in 2019 that will be available in both pure electric and range-extending versions. Now, the Australian website Motoring reports that the global EV will feature a powertrain similar to the experimental Japan-only Mazda2 (Demio) EV, which used a single-rotor engine as a generator to power the battery pack and increase its driving range. The publication says Mazda plans to release a series of plug-in hybrids based on existing models around 2020, then a pure electric car co-developed with Toyota and Denso in 2021 as part of the EV Common Architecture Spirit Company joint venture. A Mazda spokesman tells Autoblog the company couldn't confirm any details about future products. Meanwhile, enthusiasts shouldn't wait for a rotary-based production version of Mazda's RX-Vision concept from 2015. Motoring cites two executives who explain that the company simply lacks the capital necessary to invest in developing the new model in time for its 2020 centennial. Mazda debuted its rotary engine 50 years ago in the Cosmo Sport in part as a way to stand out from its larger Japanese competitors. The engine, which uses a spinning three-tipped rotor in place of pistons, is smaller and lighter than conventional piston engines, with a greater power-to-weight ratio and quieter, smoother operation. But it delivers less fuel economy and higher emissions — two weaknesses that could be improved via a stop-start system Mazda has developed, based on a pair of U.S. patents. The company has also been hard at work developing its next-generation Skyactiv-X engine, which uses highly precise combustion ignition technology to deliver significant gains in fuel economy and power.Related Video:
