I am a Master Mazda Mechanic by trade. I bought this car with a hydro-locked engine (from the second owner, who owned it less then a year) with the intent to replace the engine
and go threw the car to make sure it is ready to drive and well maintained. So that is exactly what I did. I installed a New (NOT Remanufactured) Mazda Crate Engine directly from Mazda. This was definitely not the cheapest way to go but definitely the best. The engine alone was almost $5,000. It does have a 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty (on the long block (a Mazda Long Block includes the following new parts; Valve Cover, Timing Cover, Oil Pan, Oil Pump, Cyl Head, Block, Pistons, VVT, Timing Chain, Tensioner, Guides, Valves, Springs, etc & Comes preassembled). I replaced the clutch, thermostat, spark plugs, all the gaskets and fluids, installed a newer intake manifold (because the other one had debris in it and I was not going to take a chance with it.) There is around 500 miles on the engine now. This think runs great, super smooth at idle. Best of all everything works! The a/c is cold, all the windows work, shifts great and smooth, seats work properly, etc. The only aftermarket item on this car is the Cold Air Intake, even the battery is a Mazda replacement (and still has some warranty left). Because of the Cold Air Intake, you have to be some-what careful when driving in the rain, which is why the engine was hydro-locked in the first place. There was no damage at all to the vehicle other then the engine. I have pictures of the original engine, #1 rod was broken and put a hole in the block. There is no traces of that damage now. I was planning on keeping this car for myself but other projects are waiting for my money. Now is your chance to own a hard-to-find Mazda. See the following for all of the specs. If you have any questions or would like more pictures please ask!

The history listed shows an accident. the second owner said the vehicle was lightly rear ended, the bumper was repainted. I have looked extensively for damage and I cannot see an structure damage nor any signs of repair.

The tires have 6/32 of tread left, Considered "Green by a Mazda Full Circle Inspection" the front brakes are 6mm, the Rear Brake pads are 5mm Approx.

Remember, I have over $5,000 in parts alone getting this car to its present condition. This car is available to look at in Phoenix, AZ.

Thank You and Happy Bidding!

If you are a Serious Buyer please feel free to send me an Offer, the worst I could say it no.

Mazda engineers say current Skyactiv-X might not suit U.S. market

Tue, Jan 21 2020

We've been watching Mazda roll out the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Skyactiv-X engine in Japan and Europe, waiting our turn. When European authorities released fuel economy information for the high-tech motor last June, we wrote, "Mazda has yet to make an official decision on timing for the U.S market's launch of the engine." Automotive News spoke to Mazda engineers in charge of the powertrain, and based on the answers AN got, the question might not be when we get the Skyactiv-X, but if. Seems that the automaker now isn't certain whether the cost/benefit analysis for the U.S. market favors the engine, and there's concern the 2.0-liter might not be powerful enough for us with its current output of 178 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. At the moment, our Mazda3 is served only with a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine producing 186 hp and 186 lb-ft., not too far ahead of the Skyactiv-X. The Skyactiv-X would return better fuel economy, but requires a noteworthy price premium over the Skyactiv-G. The Truth About Cars says the Skyactiv-X has become the top-seller in the Japanese-market Mazda3, even though it costs 27% more than the base, 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G for a 9% improvement in fuel economy. Mazda's not sure U.S. customers would care much for that kind of math. Engineer Yoshiaki Yamane told AN, "Maybe U.S. customers require more power, because fuel economy is not the top requirement." There isn't much Mazda can do about the tech-heavy engine's cost, since pricey equipment like the high-pressure fuel injection and combustion systems, supercharger, three-way catalyst, and 24-volt mild-hybrid system provide the mileage gains that are the engine's reason for being. Instead, engineers are researching the system's effects with larger displacements. If it works as desired, a larger and more powerful Skyactiv-X could come to the U.S. on the large-vehicle architecture Mazda's developing for new sedans to arrive in a couple of years. That's the hope, at least. Remember, Mazda's Skyactiv-D was meant to go into the 2014 Mazda6, but didn't because Mazda said it needed more time to find "the right balance between fuel economy and Mazda-appropriate driving performance." After five years of "Soon," the engine showed up on the 2019 CX-5 that starts at $42,045. Based on that template, it could be awhile before we know how the U.S.-market Skyactiv-X story ends. 2014 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

The 2014 North American International Auto Show is right around the corner, which means it's high time we found out which cars and trucks would be finalists for the prestigious North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards.
The finalists - three in cars and three in three trucks/utilities - are dominated by American brands, with two-thirds of the finalists hailing from either General Motors or Chrysler (don't worry Ford, there's always next year), while outliers from Mazda and Acura can be found in each contest. Here now is the list of finalists for the big prizes:

Mazda RX-Vision GT3 concept slinks into Gran Turismo Sport next year

Sun, Nov 24 2019

The World Final of the FIA World Tour in Gran Turismo Sport just went down in Monaco, and Mazda was there with a couple of big announcements. The first is that the Hiroshima-based automaker will become an official video game partner next year, 2020 also happening to be Mazda's centenary year. The second reveal was a sketch of the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept, a GT3-class racer based on the RX-Vision Concept shown at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Game creator Kazunori Yamauchi and Mazda's North American design chief Julien Mountousse wouldn't get into details, such as how close the final car would look to the drawing or whether there'd be a rotary engine under the hood. Yamauchi would only say Polyphony Digital is modeling the car right now, and Montousse added that designers wanted the Vision GT3 to be a car players really wanted to drive. As much of a looker as the race car is, it's clear some changes will be in order; the front fenders, roof, and rear wing are nearly on the same plane. The brunt of aero accessorizing happens down low, a massive front splitter leading to extended side sills with vertical planes, and what must be a massive rear diffuser with an even larger set of vertical planes. It's hard to tell by the drawing, but it looks like the rear wing supports angle out from the body to merge with the end plates. When the RX-Vision GT3 shows up to contest the 2020 FIA-certified championships in GT Sport, it will join the Atenza Gr.3 as Mazda's only GT3-class car in the game — the Atenza effectively a near copy of the Speed Source Mazda6 that raced in the U.S. Grand-Am series until a couple of season ago, but with four doors instead of two, and a gas engine instead of diesel. Mazda didn't qualify for the GT Sport Manufacturer's Cup this year, they'll be hoping their team can change that next year with the RX-Vision GT3 since, as Montousse said, "That car has all the Mazda spirit in it." There will be more coming from Mazda in GT Sport as well. Word is that the official partnership won't stop at a single new car, and Yamauchi remarked on the partnership, "I think we can keep our expectations high for next year." Fast forward to 17:50 in the video to see the sketch presented, or roll back a bit to 14:00 to listen to comments from Mazda global head of design Ikuo Maeda.
