Up for sale is a very nice 2004 Mazda 6 Sedan with the sport package.  This car has only 54,041 original miles and you are buying from the original owners.  It was purchased in August of 2004 from Modern Motors in Thomaston, CT.  This car has never seen typical New England sand and salt.  It goes into storage every November and doesn't come back out until the roads are swept.  It sits under a car cover with a battery tender on it while in storage.  The only reason I am getting rid of it is because we do not use it anymore.  It comes with two sets of wheels, the first ones are the factory 17" alloys that I wrapped in new snow tires if someone decides to use them for that (they have no miles on them).  They were used from Town Fair Tire to our house.  The second are the ones in the last picture, which are Konig with BF Goodrich G/Force Supersports Z-rated with about 8,000 miles on them.  The car came stock with cloth interior and I had a leather kit professionally installed.  I also had some light tasteful modifications done to the car, as follows:  20% tint all the way around, Tein S lowering springs and upper antisway bar, AEM cold air intake, genuine Mazda chrome gas door and clear front corners.  The rest of the car is 100% stock.  (I still have all the stock parts if wanted )  I also had the shifter linkage replaced at 50,000 miles because I heard they had design flaws and would break at around 60,000 miles at the fire wall and leave you unable to shift.  The car from day one has always had oil and filter changed every 3,000 miles or every 6 months which every came first with genuine Mazda filter and Castrol full synthetic oil.  This is a great car and is very sharp and sporty yet practical!  The four cylinder engine gets very good fuel economy and the five speed and clutch are awesome.  The car feels the same as the day I drove it off the lot.  The only body work that has been done on this car has been the front and rear bumper due to people in parking lots.  There are two small dings almost side by side on the passenger side rear door and also one on the drivers side door under the door handle from other people opening there doors into mine in parking lots.  There is also one on the passenger side of the hood, also from other people.  There is one small scuff on the bottom and top drivers side of the front bumper and scuffs under the front bumper (not visible) due to its height.  The car has minimal chips on the front due to normal driving.  I was going to have the dents pulled but they could not guarantee the paint wouldn't spider wed, so I  didn't have it done.  On a scale from 1-10, this car is a 9.5 on the exterior!  The interior is in perfect shape.  AC and heat work great, everything inside works as it should.  Car has never been smoked in.  Every time I take it out of storage I have it professionally detailed with Ardex chemicals.  I also replace the break pads due to rusty rotors.  All this will be up to the new owner if desired.  Mileage may change if someone decides to test drive the car, if not that is the exact mileage.  The car is not being driven.   Vehicle is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  This is also a no reserve auction.  With that in mind, only bid what you are willing and have to pay.  Do not show up after the auction and try to negotiate.

Clear title in hand!

This car is a wonderful car and will give someone much more happiness as it as given to me as well as many more years.

Call, text  or email with any questions about the car. 203-805-1282

Thanks - Andrew

Import pickup truck-killing Chicken Tax to be repealed?

Tue, Jun 30 2015

After over 50 years, the so-called Chicken Tax may finally be going the way of the dodo. Two pending trade deals with countries in the Pacific Rim and Europe potentially could open the US auto market up to imported trucks, if the measures pass. Although, it still might be a while before you can own that Volkswagen Amarok or Toyota Hilux, if ever. The 25-percent import tariff that the Chicken Tax imposes on foreign trucks essentially makes the things all but impossible to sell one profitably in the US, which lends a distinct advantage to domestic pickups. Both the Trans-Pacific Partnership with 12 counties and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with the European Union would finally end the charge. According to Automotive News though, don't expect new pickups to flood the market, at least not immediately. These deals might roll back the tariff gradually over time, and in the case of Japan, it could be as long as 25 years before fully free trade. Furthermore, Thailand, a major truck builder in Asia, isn't currently part of the deal, and any new models here would still need to meet safety and emissions rules, as well. Automotive News gauged the very early intentions of several automakers with foreign-built trucks, and they weren't necessarily champing at the bit to start imports. Toyota thinks the Hilux sits between the Tundra and Tacoma, and Mazda doesn't think the BT-50 fits its image here. Also, VW doesn't necessarily want to bring the Amarok over from Hannover. There is previous precedent for companies at least considering bringing in pickup trucks after the Chicken Tax's demise, though. The Pacific free trade deal could be done as soon as this fall, while the EU one is likely further out, according to Automotive News. Given enough time, the more accessible ports could allow some new trucks to enter the market.

Mazda considering a 'hyper' Mazda3 with the 250-hp 2.5-liter turbo four

Mon, Apr 15 2019

Mazda boss Akira Marumoto said last year there'd be no Mazdaspeed version of the new Mazda3 because the hot hatch segment wasn't a priority for the carmaker. Then Mazda engineer Dave Coleman told Road & Track that without "an engine on the shelf that would fit properly," an MPS variant made no sense. The first reader comment on our Coleman post read, "Engine — you have it; cue up the 2.5T." Mazda might have been listening. Program manager Kota Beppu told Autocar he'd like a "hyper" Mazda3, the outlet figuring the 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo would make the most sense for power. Autocar wrote "the project had not been officially signed off, [but] insiders suggest that is a formality." When Car and Driver queried Mazda and its sources about the report, the magazine realized "the company is seriously considering a high-performance hot hatch." What's more, "Drew Cary, senior manager for brand communications, said, 'We encourage people to ask for it, though. Our planners and executives are watching and listening to fans.'" The turbocharged 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G four-cylinder — which doesn't sell in Europe — makes 250 hp on premium gasoline and 310 pound-feet of torque in the Mazda6, CX-5 and CX-9. A next-generation SkyActiv-G is predicted on the way next year, bringing more boost and power. Even as is, we're talking a chunky lump of power to send to the front wheels, and Beppu mentioned torque steer. The new Mazda3's all-wheel drive would alleviate that bugbear. Unlike the raw, fast-twitch reflexes of the last Mazdaspeed3 from 2013, Beppu says a new model "needs to be responsible and friendly ... more friendly than a Golf GTI." And, "It should be fast." The polished looks and interior address the necessary perceptions. CD's done the math on the current 2.5-liter and predicts a five-second sprint to 60 miles per hour, which is Volkswagen Golf R and Honda Civic Type R territory, so GTI comparisons could be a case of aiming low. Imagine a 300-hp engine with a touch more torque and a six-speed manual ... If Mazda follows through with such a product, it could take two years to get the green light. However, we're told that Mazda's Los Angeles research and development center has already built a proof-of-concept to encourage and anticipate that green light.

Mazda goes on engineer hiring binge as recovery picks up speed

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Japan's larger automakers - companies like Toyota, Honda and Nissan - have tremendous engineering talent at their disposal. That's largely because, selling as many cars as they do, they've got more revenues to tap into. Logic might dictate, then, that smaller automakers like Mazda, which no longer has the deep pockets afforded to it by its former partnership with Ford, might have less of a budget and workforce for engineering. But Mazda has been raking in record profits, and it plans on cashing those revenues in by hiring a substantial new pool of engineers.
According to Automotive News, Mazda is preparing to hire as many as 185 new engineers over the next two years - almost four times as many as the 50 engineers it previously targeted. Many of those engineers will be put to work developing the second-generation, Skyactiv 2 technologies that are on the drawing board while the first round of Skyactiv features are still being rolled out.
The boost in recruitment is enabled by a positive fiscal year that ended last March, marking the first profits Mazda had logged in four years. Sources anticipate that the fiscal year culminating at the end of this month will mark the company's most profitable yet, netting over a billion dollars to eclipse the fiscal year that ended in 2008 when it recorded $872.5 million in profits.
