Translogic 182: CXC Motion Pro II Racing Simulator
Thu, Aug 13 2015Translogic gets some seat time in the CXC Motion Pro II to test if the high fidelity racing simulator can impact our host's real-life track times. Host Jonathon Buckley hits the track at Auto Club Speedway of California in a 2015 BMW M4 to put down a baseline lap time before his virtual training session in the Motion Pro II. After learning the lines of the track in a simulated setting, Jonathon returns to the track to put his skills to the test. "We designed it, originally, as a professional training tool for race car drivers," says CXC Simulation's founder and president Chris Considine. "Make it authentic. Make it real." The Motion Pro II boasts "thousands of cars and track models," ranging from street cars, to rally and off-road vehicles. Will this hyper realistic racing simulator help Jonathon improve his lap time? Toyota/Mazda factory will reportedly be in Alabama or North Carolina
Tue, Nov 14 2017The Toyota/Mazda factory sweepstakes appear to be nearing a conclusion as Bloomberg and Automotive News are reporting the location has been narrowed down to either North Carolina or Alabama. The joint venture plant worth $1.6 billion would add 4,000 jobs to whichever state lands it. To even be considered, Toyota and Mazda have reportedly sought a $1 billion incentive package from interested states in the form of tax breaks and other support. At least 15 states had apparently been jockeying for the factory, including Mississippi, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Texas and South Carolina. Toyota presently has an engine factory near Huntsville, Ala. The state is also currently home to Honda, Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz assembly plants. North Carolina currently does not have a car manufacturing plant. This would also represent Mazda's return to American manufacturing, as its present lineup of cars and crossovers is produced in Japan. The company had previously built cars in the United States along with its former partner Ford. Related Video:
2018 Mazda3 gets low-speed automatic braking across the board
Wed, Aug 2 2017Though the Mazda3 is mostly carry-over for the 2018 model year, Mazda has sweetened the deal on all trim levels ever so slightly with more standard equipment. Most notable is the inclusion of low-speed automatic emergency braking on the base Sport trim. That makes the feature standard on every version of Mazda3, and it's also included on manual transmission models. Touring's big change is the inclusion of the 184-horsepower 2.5-liter engine as the standard powertrain. This means you'll only be able to get the 2.0-liter engine on the Sport trim. Finally, Grand Touring gets a lighting upgrade with self-leveling LED lights up front along with LED taillights and running lights. Mazda also supplies these additional features while barely changing prices. The Sport trim level increases by $250. The Touring trim actually drops in price by $355 for the sedan, and an impressive $1,555 for the hatchback (when compared with the existing Touring 2.5 trim level). Grand Touring pricing remains the same as the 2017 model year. Related Video:
