For Sale is a really great 1999 Mazda Miata, I am the second owner and only selling because my neighbor just offered to sell me his muscle car and need the cash.

The original owner barely drove this car, and took care of it.  I installed a K&N Cold air intake on it 2 weeks ago, really improved the engine sound, performance, and looks of the engine bay. I am an ASE mechanic by trade.

Just had an Alpine USB Head unit and component speakers with small sub-woofer [Miata specific] and Polk power amp professionally installed. [2 weeks ago] Still have the stock CD Player. The stereo sounds crisp and balanced, not boomy.

Also just installed a set of new 16in lightweight wheels and tires on the car - less than 150 miles ago.  Still have the original wheels and tires in great shape.

Other than the intake, audio system, and wheels/tires, the car is stock. Have all the parts to return to stock condition, and all mods were just installed in the past 150 miles/2 weeks.

Spent 945.00 on wheels & tires, over 1000.00 on the audio system, and 220.00 for the cold air intake.

I am the second owner, car has never been driven in winter, has no rust.    A few very minor scratches from being driven, but overall car looks great. Top has no tears, has a glass back window with defroster.

AC blows cold, brakes are in good shape, clutch feels fine.  This car could be driven anyplace.

Oil has only been changed with Mobile 1, and it drives as a Mazda Miata with less than 20k should.

Local buyers are encouraged to come see the car firsthand.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.

Mazda6 Skyactiv-D Racecar ready to bring diesel to Grand-Am

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

It may not be quite as radical as some of the company's past rotary racers, but the new Mazda6 Skyactiv-D racecar does have a notable powertrain underhood: the automaker's brand-new clean diesel four-cylinder engine.
Three of these new diesel-powered Mazda6 racers will take to the track in the Grand-Am GX class of the upcoming 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 26, with five drivers on each team. The car you see above, number 70, is sponsored by Mazda's longtime motorsports partner, SpeedSource.

Mazda and Fiat finalize deal for Alfa roadster, next-gen MX-5 Miata

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

Although a little bit later than expected, Mazda and Fiat have signed a final agreement that will bring a next-generation MX-5 Miata to the Japanese automaker and a new roadster to Alfa Romeo. When the proposed arrangement was announced back in May, the two automakers had hoped to seal the deal last year, but it doesn't appear that the production timeline for these cars has slipped any, with both expected to start rolling off assembly lines in 2015.
Other than a shared chassis with a rear-wheel-drive layout, it sounds like the two cars are still planned to be distinct in their own ways from their styling right down to their engines. Mazda will produce both cars at a plant in Hiroshima, Japan, but it isn't clear what role each automaker will play in the cars' developmental process. The big question, of course, is what clever portmanteau name we can come up with, like Toyobaru. Mazda Romeo is the easy choice, but Alfazda might roll off the tongue a little better.
Scroll down for a brief press release from both automakers.
