For sale is my 1996 Mazda Miata M-edition. In 1996 there were only 2900 of these made and their MSRP was at over $24,000 Making them the most expensive M editions sold.

Some features that make the 96 M edition stand out are its dark blue paint that is only offered on the 96 M edition, its 5 spoke Enkei rims that come standard on the 96 M edition only, M edition badges on the Headrest, door sill, front fenders, and tachometer. The M edition also comes with Nardi wooden shift knob and Emergency brake handle. You wont find these features on any ordinary Miata and a lot of the features are limited to just the 1996 model shown.

The Soft top is in perfect condition and was replaced a few years ago. My mechanic and I replaced the water pump, spark plugs, spark plug wires, timing belt, and all of the engines seals less than 2000 Miles ago. The tires have about 50% life in them. Currently the car is riding on a set of stainless 15 inch pacer rims, but included in the sale will be the original M-Edition Enkei 5 spoke light weight aluminum rims.

Mechanically the car runs perfect, clutch is good, engine runs good and starts up easy and strong, transmission is perfect, power steering is perfect, brakes are amazing.. The interior has new carpeting and the seats are like new. The radio is a Kenwood single din that sounds perfect and comes with an auxiliary in so you can plug in your phone, iPod, or mp3 to listen to music. The only thing wrong with the interior is cracks in the front window defrost vents located in front of the dash. Paint is in good condition as the car was repainted a few years ago. Minor chips but NO RUST.

The cars previous owner only used the car on the weekends to drive around town, and now it is my daily driver.

This car is located near Miami Springs. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like additional photos.

2014 Mazda3

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Almost by definition, affordable compact cars aren't supposed to be fun. Sure, hot hatches get our blood pumping, but not long ago, the terms "compact car" and "economy car" could safely be used interchangeably. A key exception for the last decade has been the Mazda3, a car that has consistently delivered more dynamic thrills and tactile feedback than its contemporaries. Competitors have picked up their game significantly in recent years, however, leaving the Mazda3 wanting in several areas, including overall refinement, in-car technology and cabin appointments, so Mazda went back to the drawing board to create this all-new third-gen model for 2014.
Including this redesigned 2014 model, Mazda's recent crop of new products have targeted North America's hottest non-truck segments - compact car, midsize sedan and compact crossover/SUV. Yet it might be fair to call this launch the most important of them all, as the 3 remains the Japanese marque's best-selling vehicle. While America's pool of compact hatchbacks isn't exactly deep, the 2014 Mazda3 still has a challenging road ahead of it competing against two-box compacts that include the popular Ford Focus and recent additions like the all-new Kia Forte and the still-new Hyundai Elantra GT.

Mazda goes on engineer hiring binge as recovery picks up speed

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Japan's larger automakers - companies like Toyota, Honda and Nissan - have tremendous engineering talent at their disposal. That's largely because, selling as many cars as they do, they've got more revenues to tap into. Logic might dictate, then, that smaller automakers like Mazda, which no longer has the deep pockets afforded to it by its former partnership with Ford, might have less of a budget and workforce for engineering. But Mazda has been raking in record profits, and it plans on cashing those revenues in by hiring a substantial new pool of engineers.
According to Automotive News, Mazda is preparing to hire as many as 185 new engineers over the next two years - almost four times as many as the 50 engineers it previously targeted. Many of those engineers will be put to work developing the second-generation, Skyactiv 2 technologies that are on the drawing board while the first round of Skyactiv features are still being rolled out.
The boost in recruitment is enabled by a positive fiscal year that ended last March, marking the first profits Mazda had logged in four years. Sources anticipate that the fiscal year culminating at the end of this month will mark the company's most profitable yet, netting over a billion dollars to eclipse the fiscal year that ended in 2008 when it recorded $872.5 million in profits.

Mazda files patents for a sequential twin-turbo setup

Fri, Dec 8 2017

Mazda has a history of interesting engine technologies, from yesterday's rotary engine to tomorrow's compression ignition engine, and new patents show it still may have some internal combustion tricks up its sleeve. The one on display in these patents isn't especially new in concept, though. A sequential twin-turbocharger setup is something Mazda itself used on the third-generation RX-7. But it's something we haven't seen much of lately. It looks like it could have some possible advantages over older sequential systems, and it has some potential advantages for enthusiasts. First a quick and dirty primer for what makes a sequential twin-turbo system distinct from other twin-turbo systems. In many twin-turbo engines, there are simply two turbos that work together as one bigger turbo. They're the same size, and they spool up at the same time. With a sequential setup, at low rpm, a smaller turbocharger is spooled up first at low-rpm for quicker throttle response, and as the rpm and exhaust pressure increases, a valve opens up that allows a larger turbocharger to also spool up and provide high-rpm boost. That's basically how the Mazda design shown above functions. A big flap blocks off the larger turbocharger exhaust inlet, channeling all the exhaust to the smaller turbo. When more exhaust is available at high rpm, it looks like that flap opens up to spool up the big turbo, too. What's interesting here is that the way the turbochargers are packaged takes up less space than past systems. It looks like both turbos are contained in one unit that shares the same exhaust outlet, meaning the exhaust manifold could be kept simple and compact. In fact, the piping for compressed intake air could also be shared, reducing the amount of piping, which would further decrease the amount of materials and possible failure points. There are a number advantages of making this system smaller. The potential applications of the system are much greater, since it could fit in smaller cars with smaller engine bays. Making the system smaller also means that there won't be as much weight, which is important from both fuel economy and performance standpoints. Finally, the smaller setup likely uses fewer materials, which could make the system cheaper and thus easier to offer on a wider range of vehicles, or at least more profitable for Mazda.
