I'm selling a rare and unique custom built 1995 Miata MX-5 that is right hand drive and is road legal in all 50 states. This Miata started off as a left hand drive car and was torn down and rebuilt using a front clip imported from Japan. The engine and manual transmission from the front clip in the car are estimated to have approximately 65,000 miles on them, while the rest of the car has around 85,000 miles on it. The title record shows over 100k miles - from everything I can tell, this is actually over 135k kilometers in reality. I believe the person(s) who titled the car before mistakenly read the odometer as being in miles, when it actually registers kilometers. All readings on the odometer and speedometer are in kilometers and and kilometers per hour and the odometer reads around 135,000 kilometers / 85,0000 miles right now.

The car is mostly stock inside with the exception of an aftermarket stereo and shift knob, along with a custom body kit and lowering springs.

NEW ITEMS ON CAR: Over the past couple of years, I added a matching hard top, rear spoiler, new struts and lowering springs, brakes and rotors all around, and rear calipers to the car. I also had most of the engine torn down and had over $3k in work done on the engine, as well as a new radiator, heater core, etc.

ISSUES WITH CAR: the front left caliper is sticking and needs replaced, the heating system does not work too well (I think the ducting needs to be hooked up properly behind the dash), the oil pressure gauge needs fixed, and the stereo system is not hooked up to the speakers. The overall car is in great shape and has a few minor rust issues on the bottoms of the doors and on a couple body seams. The paint needs some touches done to it as well - most issues with the paint seem to be in the top coat and I think a good buffing would remove most, if not all of the scratches, which were caused by by young boys running some toys along the body of the car. None of the scratches appear to go into the paint - they all appear to be on the top / clear coat. Valve cover gasket also has a minor leak in the rear - I've replaced this gasket within the past 5k miles, but it seems to have a small leak in it once again. It's not leaking a ton, but oil is seeping out some.

The seats are out of the car in the pictures due to interior cleaning and they will be in the car at time of purchase. I have a picture of the stock seats included.

I have over $9k in this car and am hoping to get at least $3500 out of it as it's very unique with being a right hand drive. I'd love to get $6500 out of it, but I'll settle for $3500 if that's what it goes for. My plan is to use some of the proceeds from this car to help with charity projects I am involved in.

Car has a clean Ohio title and is currently located in Johnstown, PA. Pick up and shipping are at the expense of the buyer. I am happy to assist with getting the car on a truck to get it delivered, but I will not cover the shipping costs.

Production Mazda Vision Coupe concept, GRMN Supra, new BRZ/86 coming

After writing about what's in store for the next-generation Subaru WRX, Japan's Best Car magazine is back with more spy work on what's ahead for the coming Mazda sedan, fighting-spec GRMN Toyota Supra, and next-generation Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86. All three are supposedly headed for previews at this year's Tokyo Motor Show before rolling out in 2021 and 2022. Mazda showed the Vision Coupe concept at the 2017 Tokyo show, then sneaked a mention of a rear- and all-wheel drive "Large Architecture" and two inline-six engines into a 2019 investor's report. Best Car says that concept's production version will house a 3.0-liter Skyactiv-X SPCCI inline-six with "M-Hybrid" 48-volt assistance. Output figures remain a mystery, but the mag says engineers are aiming for 345 horsepower. The real deal isn't slated for dealers until 2022, bringing what Mazda bills as a "BMW, Audi quality car at the price of Volkswagen." A further treat: Best Car says the Hiroshima automaker is laying out a two-door version on the same platform. Not even a month after 2020 Toyota Supra chief engineer Tetsuya Tada told us, "With a sports car, the promise is to offer more performance with each additional version," this report says the full-fat GRMN Supra will raise the stakes. Expected in the latter stages of 2021, the current 335-hp Supra will get an "output eventually close to 400 ps" (about 394 horsepower) from its BMW-source 3.0-liter straight-six. Along with that will come a lighter, stiffer body, and a sportier suspension tune to manage and make the most of the 60-horse increase. Best Car says the next-generation Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ will move to a new platform, without specifying whether it would be Toyota's TNGA platform suggested by a report in April — not that there are many other options. Neither the footprint nor the body dimensions are predicted to change, and transmissions will continue to include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. The new platform will hold a new engine, although it won't be the revelation many fans want. The magazine says the Subaru 2.0-liter FA20 will retire, making way for the Subaru 2.4-liter FA24. The FA24 is the same engine in the Subaru Ascent crossover, where it produces 260 hp and 277 lb-ft. There'll be no such fireworks for the sporty twins due in the first half of 2021, output reported to be "improved to 220 ps," or 217 hp Â— a 12-hp bump over the current figure.

Mazda6 diesel to race at Rolex 24, team and drivers announced

Mazda is getting serious about showing off the Skyactiv-D turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine in the Mazda6. The automaker has just announced it will campaign three diesel Mazda6 racers in the Grand-Am GX class of the upcoming 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona in a quest to walk away with the company's 24th class win. Mazda partnered with SpeedSource to develop the race version of the new sedan, with Japanese and American engineers lending a helping hand where needed. Meanwhile, Freedom Autosport and Visit Florida Racing/SpeedSource/Yellow Dragon Racing will helm teams of their own.
Each car will make use of a five-driver team for the 24-hour race on January 26. In the interim, you can check out the full press release below for more information as well as the full driver roster. Mazda says we can expect to see the No. 70 SpeedSource car under the lights at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show later this month, as well.

Chicago Auto Show page claims 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata to produce 155 hp [UPDATE]

UPDATE: Mazda wasn't willing to confirm or deny the figures cited by the Chicago Auto Show, although we're betting the 155-horsepower figure is a bit on the low side. As for the CAS page, a Mazda spokesman told Autoblog that they "aren't sure where they got that number." The horsepower estimate has since been pulled down. Well, someone may have made a boo-boo. The Chicago Auto Show is currently hosting a page that claims the Mazda MX-5 will produce 155 horsepower, courtesy of a 2.0-liter, Skyactiv four-cylinder. If this is correct, it'd be the first time the MX-5's US power output had been revealed. The 155 hp figure would account for a 12-hp drop from that of the outgoing MX-5, though, a corresponding weight loss should still improve the power-to-weight ratio for the 2016 model. Now, the CAS page could simply be following previous reports, including one from Autoblog. As recently as October, it was being reported that the MX-5 would be powered by a 2.0-liter, Skyactiv four-cylinder, a version of which is producing 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque in the Mazda3. Naturally, we've reached out to Mazda for comment – or perhaps even confirmation Â– on the info from CAS, although we aren't expecting a reply until at least later this morning (darn time zones).
