What: 1995 Mazda Miata
Where: Seaford, New York (Long Island)
Mileage: 133,xxx

Background: I purchased this car from a car lot in September of 2009. It was a bone stock brilliant black model. Paperwork in the car indicates it was in Tennessee most of its life so it is RUST FREE. I have only driven it around 100 miles or so since I purchased it. Car is always in the garage.

The car has been plastidipped by me. It has a lot of coats and will peel very easily. Underneath the dip the car is prepped for a real paintjob if someone wanted to go that route. It has been sanded down smooth as glass.
The interior in this car is spotless. I swapped out the doorcards and plastics for tan, then wrapped the console and radio surround in Redline leather to match. Threw in a brand new set of plush Miata tan mats as well.
Car has heat, A/C and power steering. No power windows. I have no idea what package it has.

Here is a list of mods:
-XXR 001 wheels, 15x8 front, 15x9 rear with Falken 195's and 205's respectively. They have about 100 miles on them (fronts have a 5mm spacer also)
-custom Mazda center caps
-Project Kics lug nuts
-Autokonexion Widebody kit
-tinted front bumper lights
-OBX stainless header
-OBX stainless cat delete pipe
-Speudo N1 stainless exhaust
-Seibon CF hood
-Chaser Aero CF finish panel
-Breezy's Hard Top- one-off with shaved everything
-Redline console and radio surround leather covers
-Momo pedals
-Moss Miata wood e-brake handle
-Nardi wood knob
-KG Works replica rear spoiler, mounted with bolts
-Miata R package rear lip
-Summit Racing bucket seats, mounted to stock Miata rails so they slide back and forth
-RaceEquip harnesses
-Polished door sill plates (M edition)
-Hot Rod style window cranks
-Revlimiter polished vent rings
-eBay polished style bar
-shifter extender
-CF shorty antennae
-Polished mirror blanks (I have no mirrors except the Hot Rod style peep mirror on driver side)
-Polished radiator cooling panel
-Custom intake
I am sure I am forgetting stuff.
The suspension is Monroe Sensatrac shocks with eBay adjustable coils and springs. The car sits at 12" all around.

No speakers, but  I am including a very nice ALPINE IVA head unit that already has a Miata plug and play adapter wired into it. It has never been used or installed.

There is no soft top, only a custom hard top with shaved moldings.

The only known issue with this car is that the headlights will not go down.  The headlights do go up when turned on and can be manually moved down. There is also no bulb in that little interior light on the dash.

The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction if sold. Thanks for looking.

Volkswagen's latest ad is not subtle | Autoblog Podcast #509

Fri, Mar 24 2017

On this week's podcast, Mike Austin and David Gluckman are joined by special guest James Riswick, who has been driving a lot of new cars lately. All of them are discussed, plus a few more from Mike and David, and Mike rants a bit about a new VW Atlas commercial. The episode wraps up with the traditional doling out of Spend My Money buying advice, during which David briefly goes out into left field. (He's back now, don't worry.) The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) And if you have other questions or comments, please send those too. Mazda CX-5, Mazda6 and Mazda3 could stall due to software glitch

Fri, Jul 12 2019

Mazda is recalling 262,220 vehicles due to a software error that could cause the engine to unexpectedly stall out. The recall affects 2018-2019 CX-5 crossovers, 2018-2019 Mazda6 sedans and 2019 Mazda3 models.  According to NHTSA recall No. 19V497000, which was filed June 27, a programming issue in the powertrain control module (PCM) on select Mazda vehicles could cause the engine to shut down. More specifically, "the software controlling the hydraulic valve clearance adjuster may operate improperly when transitioning from cylinder deactivation to full cylinder activation modes." This could potentially cause the intake valve rocker arm to come out of position and hit something else in the engine. If this occurs, the engine could misfire, the engine could lose power, and the Malfunction Indicator Light would be triggered. The recall affects 143,004 2018 CX-5s, 81,236 2019 CX-5s, 18,295 2018 Mazda6s, 2,551 2019 Mazda6s, and 17,134 Mazda3s. Some cars from those model years received the improved software at the factory and won't be affected by the recall. Although the first report of a related issue was chronicled in January 31, 2018, no injuries tied to the problems have been reported. Mazda is expected to start its recall on or before August 26, 2019, and will reprogram the PCM with improved hydraulic valve adjustment control programming for free. Contact Mazda at 1-800-222-5500, reference No. 3719F, for more information.

Five automakers now being investigated by NHTSA for airbag woes

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models.
NHTSA has received six reports - three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota - of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally.
This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."
