2018 Mazda3 gets low-speed automatic braking across the board

Though the Mazda3 is mostly carry-over for the 2018 model year, Mazda has sweetened the deal on all trim levels ever so slightly with more standard equipment. Most notable is the inclusion of low-speed automatic emergency braking on the base Sport trim. That makes the feature standard on every version of Mazda3, and it's also included on manual transmission models. Touring's big change is the inclusion of the 184-horsepower 2.5-liter engine as the standard powertrain. This means you'll only be able to get the 2.0-liter engine on the Sport trim. Finally, Grand Touring gets a lighting upgrade with self-leveling LED lights up front along with LED taillights and running lights. Mazda also supplies these additional features while barely changing prices. The Sport trim level increases by $250. The Touring trim actually drops in price by $355 for the sedan, and an impressive $1,555 for the hatchback (when compared with the existing Touring 2.5 trim level). We've seen all manner of ways to propose marriage, from the usual candlelit dinner to the Jumbotron at the big game. A friend of ours recently proposed with his a barbershop quartet singing backup. But this has to be a new one - and one that automotive enthusiasts would probably find even more touching than a sky-writing biplane.
A member of the Miata.net forum recently asked other MX-5 enthusiasts to help him pop the big question to his bride-to-be. He got 31 Miatas together and needed just four more, but after appealing to his fellow roadster fans, over 40 turned up in the parking lot at the local high school.
The groom-to-be runs an aerial photography business and used an unmanned drone which his girlfriend thought would be shooting some local real estate properties when it flew over the parking lot and captured the image you see above with 44 little roadsters spelling out "Marry Me?" The answer, in case you were wondering, was a resounding "Yes!" How could she not, after all, when those Mazda convertibles are just so darn adorable? Now they'll just need to figure out what they'll be driving to the chapel on the big day.

Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]

Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings.
