Up for Bid is my Beck Porsche Spyder recreation, built to exact specifications of the original (recently sold @ auction for $3.75M, which you can't drive and this one you can!), this is simply spot on and a tube frame chassis, Beck does it right and this one has the more desirable larger 1835cc motor and has less than 1k miles on new motor, such a blast to drive, never raced, always garaged, 20k kilometers (roughly 13k miles), everything works, newer tires with plenty of tread, correct wheels, wood steering wheel, exhaust w/catalytic converter passed smog in CA and currently registered, new stainless steel race style pedals, correct roll bar with padding (helmut fairing), hood straps (not installed), includes rare soft top and side window option and tucks into front bonnet (see pic below), novelty CA Black Plate, new stainless steel floor reinforcement over floors for more safety (also see pic below), this was all done to be one of the safest Spyders on the market. Clear Ca. and title listed as "SPCN" and titled as a 1995, one of the earlier desirable, #95 off the plant. 1955 Maserati A6G 2000 Zagato Coupe Beauty-Roll

Tue, Sep 1 2015

For those of you paying attention, we've really ramped up the old Autoblog video game these days. Our new series Car Club USA joins Translogic and The List, and there are more Daily Drivers and Short Cuts than ever. But sometimes, all you care about is the car. The Autoblog Beauty-Roll video series has one goal: bring you glossy video images of cars, and nothing but. We're collecting moving pictures of all the cars we test, inside and out. Each episode comes with a hit of engine sound – start-up and with a few revs – to round out the package. As you can tell, today's lovely subject is of a slightly older vintage than is typical of our Beauty-Roll fare. We shot a number of striking vehicles at this year's Pebble Beach party and will be rolling them out over the coming days and weeks. Set your resolution to max, kick it into full-screen, turn up the sound, and enjoy today's subject, the 1955 Maserati A6G 2000 Zagato Coupe. Oh, and if you'd like more Beauty-Roll, click here to see the back catalog.

Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale is an interesting choice in the world of lux GTs

Wed, Jan 7 2015

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale sits in an awkward place in the modern world of European grand tourers. Despite its voluptuous Italian body, with 454 horsepower and a six-speed automatic gearbox, it's a bit behind the times when 500 or 600 hp are the norm with seven- or eight-speed transmissions. The GranTurismo is also being phased out, but it's not nearly old enough to be a classic yet. Why would anyone spend their hard-earned dough for this Maserati? XCar Films aims to find out and eventually presents an interesting argument about why the GranTurismo is still worth at least considering against competitive entries from Aston Martin, Porsche, Ferrari or the rest of the European performance pack. This is likely just a temporary goodbye to the GranTurismo anyway, because Maserati plans to revive the name in 2018 with a production version of the Alfieri concept coming in the mean time. If nothing else, this video is a great way to say goodbye to the curvaceous coupe. Maserati pulls the plug on Trofeo spec racing series [w/video]

Thu, Dec 31 2015

For the past twelve years, customers looking to push their Maserati to the limit have been taking part in the Trofeo series. But the Italian automaker is pulling the plug and stepping into to GT4 competition. The Trofeo World Series kicked off back in 2003 when the field was made up of spec racers based on the old Maserati 4200. The newer GranTurismo MC took its place in 2010, and with it the series expanded from Europe into other locations. This year's calendar saw it race at Paul Ricard in France and the Red Bull Ring in Austria, at Road America, VIR, and Laguna Seca here in America, at Suzuka in Japan and Abu Dhabi in the Middle East. This will be the last season for the championship, but that doesn't mean client racers won't have a chance to turn the wheel of a Maserati in anger again. Instead of competing exclusively against identical machinery, Maserati will now support customer teams in two racing series under GT4 regulations: the Pirelli World Challenge here in the US and the European GT4 Championship across the pond. To that end, it's adapting the GranTurismo MC from Trofeo spec to GT4 by reducing the output from the 4.7-liter V8 from 488 horsepower to 430 and tweaking the aero package. Following the Balance of Performance tests to be undertaken under the auspices of the SRO (which runs the Euro GT4 series as well as the Blancpain championships), a good 10 teams will field 20 cars between the two series on both sides of the Atlantic. Those still interested in competing in spec racing series with identical machinery still have plenty of places to turn, including the Ferrari Challenge, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and the Porsche Supercup. MASERATI TO COMPETE IN THE 2016 GT4 CHAMPIONSHIPS 17 December 2015 - The final round of the 2015 Trofeo World Series took place at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina circuit last weekend, bringing the sixth and final season in Maserati's single-make series to a close. This, however, will not be the end of Maserati's sporting activities: the GranTurismo MCs will be back on track in 2016 competing in the international GT4 series run by private teams.
