Built by Rich Gebhardt, this 1970 Cuda Gran Sport features a very high performance 383 big block, obviously far from stock. The motor makes around 700HP and was built using all the best parts of the day. The semi-radical, high-lift (580), long duration cam has a great lope. Compression in all 8 cylinders is perfect. The Holley 750 Carbs were recently tuned and the motor runs absolutely flawlessly. I recently spent weeks cleaning up and polishing everything on the motor. All new chrome bolts and nuts everywhere I could put 'em. This past week I also spent $750 on an entirely new fuel delivery system. The old system did not allow room for a hood. The 727 trans shifts tightly. It has a reverse manual valve body. The brakes work extremely well, despite the fact they are drum all the way around. All 4 tires are almost brand new. The car leaks no fluid. This pro street Cuda looks radical, but it is very street friendly and can be driven anywhere, even in commute traffic. It does not load up or overheat. The body is in great shape and is very straight, however, there are a few blemishes and imperfections. Surprisingly few for a car that was built/painted 15(?) years ago. The paint shines with a nice gloss. Cut and buffed. Very few small chips on edges that can easily be touched up and buffed down. No doubt there is a fingernail polish this exact color (Hemi Orange) that would do the job well. The interior is good. Door panels are original and in good shape. The seats are covered in black crushed velvet and are in great shape. The headliner has the original overhead console in great shape. Floor console is also excellent with the original shifter. Original dash, guages, steering wheel, carpet, headliner, seats, seat belts and all. The car will come with a new black carpet set (front and rear). Front suspension is stock. This is a balkhalf car. Rear end is coil-over, 4-link with the original Mopar 8 3/4, narrowed. I am unsure of the gears but they feel like 3:55's. The car has polished aluminum work on the balkhalf in the interior and in the trunk. Very sharp! Top-notch workmanship by Rich Gebhardt. Fuel Cell is large. Probably 12 gallon. Polished and chromed wheelie bars. All glass in the car is excellent, chip and crack-free and, believe it or not, original. All lights, turn signals and blinkers operate as they should. Toggle switches for the fuel pump and 2 electric fans are on a guage panel and all work perfectly. The only thing this car could use is a hood. That's what I was aiming to do before I lost storage for the car. That is the reason I have to sell it. If you're looking for the ultimate Cuda and you want it supercharged, here you go. A few pumps of the gas and a tap of the key and this car starts right up, dead cold. But beware, the RPM's come up the split second you crank it, due to the blower. I mean INSTANT RPM's. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Please don't hesitate to make an offer of whatever you feel the car is worth to you. You never know, I may be motivated or in the mood to accept, depending how soon I have to remove the car from the garage. Thank you!

I will accept a $500 deposit within 48 hours of the sale. The balance MUST be paid by bank wire transfer ONLY, and must be completed within 5 days of the sale date (ebay purchase date).

Maserati GranTurismo Folgore EV shows its shapely sheetmetal

Mon, Apr 11 2022

The electric version of the next-generation Maserati GranTurismo is racing towards production. After releasing preliminary specifications, the Italian brand published a batch of photos that show the elegant-looking coupe prowling the streets of Rome, Italy, with very little camouflage. Maserati will lump its upcoming electric models under the Folgore name, a word which means "lightning" in Italian. Its photos suggest that the next GranTurismo will continue to feature the proportions that characterized the original model; the hood is long, the roof line is almost fastback-like, and the trunk is relatively short. These are the styling cues that we expect from a luxury car pelted in the GT segment. Up front, the coupe falls in line with the design language inaugurated by the MC20 and recently seen on the Grecale. The grille is wide and positioned low on the fascia, while the swept-back headlights are mounted higher. We haven't seen the GranTurismo's rear end yet. As we previously reported, Maserati announced that the GranTurismo Folgore will offer over 1,200 horsepower from three electric motors. Figures like the coupe's zero-to-60-mph time and top speed haven't been revealed, but that's a number that should unlock seriously quick acceleration. And, Maserati is committed to letting customers choose whether to go electric. Buyers not interested in getting an EV will have at least one V6-powered version of the GranTurismo to choose from, though here again official details aren't available yet. More details about the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore should emerge in the coming months, and the coupe's unveiling is scheduled for 2023. Looking ahead, the Folgore range will grow with an electric version of the Grecale and replacements for the Quattroporte and the Levante, among other models. On the V6-powered side of the line-up, the mid-engined MC20 will spawn a convertible in the near future. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. 330-horsepower Ghibli Hybrid is Maserati's first electrified model

Thu, Jul 16 2020

Maserati kicked off its electrification campaign by releasing a hybrid version of the Ghibli, its entry-level model. The sedan gains a mild hybrid system, subtle visual tweaks, and many technology upgrades inside. Unveiled online, the brand's first production-bound electrified car features a gasoline-electric powertrain built around a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It works jointly with a 48-volt belt-driven starter-generator and what the company calls an e-booster that's essentially an electric supercharger. The system's total output checks in at 330 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and 332 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm, and it channels its power to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Maserati quotes a 5.7-second sprint from zero to 62 mph, and a 159-mph top speed. While fuel economy figures are still being finalized, preliminary estimates peg the Hybrid's fuel consumption at about 27.6 mpg in a combined cycle, a figure which — if accurate — makes it less efficient than the 31.3-mpg diesel model it will replace. Adopting 48-volt technology was the best way to electrify the Ghibli, according to the brand. "We thought about a plug-in option for the Ghibli, but when you put a lot of batteries — and a lot of other stuff — into the car, it adds weight and it's going to jeopardize the performance and the fun-to-drive quotient that is key for Maserati. I'm not saying this to diminish the good points of the plug-in hybrid technology, but it's not the best solution here," Francesco Tonon, Maserati's head of global product planning and marketing, told Autoblog. Tonon pointed out making the Ghibli a hybrid wasn't an excuse to make it dull; it still needed to drive and sound like a Maserati. It's 176 pounds lighter than the diesel-burning model, and it offers better weight distribution because there is a lighter engine under the hood and some of the hybrid components are installed in the back. As for the sound, Tonon proudly explained his team gave the Ghibli a unique exhaust note worthy of the storied trident emblem without resorting to an amplifier, by tweaking the system and adopting resonators. Subtle design changes set the Hybrid model apart from the non-electrified Ghibli.

2014 Maserati Ghibli S Q4 [w/video]

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

For one reason or another, this is a car people stare at. They might be drawn to its curvaceous shape riding on immense wheels. They could be intrigued by its gaping, blacked-out grille which houses an equally outsized trident logo, or doing quick calculations about the last time they saw a car wearing the name Maserati. It may be its sports-car-like proportions mixed with achingly long, four-door bodywork that draws their eye.
Or, and I urge you to consider this theory carefully, the people taking notice of this Maserati Ghibli S Q4 might simply be newly alert after hearing the sound of its exhaust ricocheting off any solid thing nearby as I drive past grinning like a certified asshat. Did you hear an Italianate engine song careening through your Ann Arbor, MI neighborhood, in the black of the early morning, just a few weeks previous? Sorry, guy, that was probably me.
I spent a week hammering this all-wheel-drive Ghibli as hard as I dared in the last truly miserable stretch of the God Awful Winter of 2014. I can honestly say that I enjoyed myself, shocked at both the frank way this new challenger luxury car went down the road as well as the attention it garnered in the process.
