Up for sale is my wife's beloved Spyder. This is her third such car since 2004. She has owned it as her daily driver since 2008. We purchased it used from a dealer with 59K miles on it, so I do not know anything about it prior to that time. We had very few mechanical issues over our ownership, but she drives approximately 40 miles each way to work and has put some miles on it. She has purchased another Spyder (now her fourth) with lower miles, so this is the only cause for our selling this car at this time.

The title is clean with a clear CARFAX report. The car was in a minor traffic accident years ago while we owned it. A woman bumped us in stop and go city traffic and her front license plate frame punctured the rear bumper cover but did not compress any underlying structures. The only damage was cosmetic: we had the rear bumper cover replaced. Total cost to fix was under $700. Repaired by insurance company supervised shop. The original transmission failed last year, so the current transmission has only approximately 80K miles on it. It was dealer installed as a used unit in 2013.

All options, accessories, and components work as designed on the vehicle at this time, though the car will be sold as is and no warranty is expressed or implied by the information here. In short, if it has a button, it operates, including: Power Windows/Locks, Door/Alarm Remotes, Power Top, Factory CD, Interior and Exterior Lighting, Power Outlets, and all Controls. Rear defroster is the lone exception here. No check engine lights or other sensor issues are known. The top does not leak, save for in high pressure car washes as is typical of Eclipse Spyders of all model years.

Very clean daily driver with the following minor cosmetic issues:

Paint: No delamination or oxidation.Small section of hood and  fenders have small areas of Duplicolor paint to hide deeper road rash, but no rust or bubbling present. Several sanding marks in preparation for repaint due to normal road wear. Wife bought new car in stead, so I will sell this car rather than continue to restore it. Needs only clear coat respray to remove sanding marks. Most marks disappear with good hand waxing. Chose to disclose marks rather than mask them with wax in the name of full disclosure. All paint issues can be resolved with TLC without the need to spray whole body, but if we kept it, we planned on doing so anyway, thus the present condition. Minor door dings along passenger side, all but one are smaller than a dime. The one larger is about three inches long. All will pop out without the need for paint using a service like Pop-A-Dent. One chip (half inch) under driver door from rock needs filling.

Interior: Factory leather from another car of same vintage. This car came with a cloth interior from the factory. Missing Driver Seat Lumbar Lever. Thus car has never been smoked in, however, since the seats came form another vehicle, there is a solitary cigarette (?) mark in the back, driver-side seat cushion. Had the seats three days before I noticed it. Very small and in inconspicuous location. Passenger side door vinyl has a small tear which can be colored to camouflage or repaired using vinyl kit. Both are smaller than a pencil in diameter. The rear interior panels especially have scuffs from kids getting in and out over the years, but none are cracked or punctured.  Both door thresholds are scuffed and should be replaced, but are serviceable left as are.

Wheels: Several scratches in factory alloy wheels.

Single known unresolved mechanical issue: Rear window defroster does not heat.

New parts (Replaced this summer): AC Compressor and Drier, AC Control Panel, Blower Motor Resistor, Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses, Drive Belts, Idler Pulley, Front Sway Bar Links, Air Filter, Wiper Blades, Headlamps.

Newer parts (Replaced last summer): Timing belt and Tensioner, Water Pump, Spark Plugs/Wires, Tires, Brakes (Calipers, Pads, Shoes), Interior Carpet/Padding, Oxygen Sensor, Battery.

Please feel free to ask any questions needed to help you bid with confidence. Remember, this was my wife's car which we counted on to get her over 80 miles a day round trip and never lost sleep worrying about it leaving her stuck. Very sound throughout. This is not an auction car, or one someone is selling to make a profit with. We believe this car has many more reliable miles left in her. If you want a fun, head-turning car to drive on a daily basis, this is your best bet! I have set a very low reserve for this auction given the overall clean condition of the vehicle. I expect to sell this car during this listing, so I respectfully reserve the right to end the listing early if I sell it locally.

Barbie-themed Maserati Grecale Trofeo: Stick that in your dream house

Wed, Oct 26 2022

A new live-action Barbie movie is coming, which means brand collaborations across several industries. The car-crazy Barbie world is teaming up with Maserati and Neiman Marcus to create a one-off Grecale Trofeo SUV with so much pink that the Mary Kay paint factory may be running low for a while.  As a whole, the Barbie universe is incredibly car-friendly and has featured some iconic models over the years, including Corvettes, a 911, a Ferrari, and various Jeeps. Maserati’s hoping to get on that list with its new Grecale Trofeo SUV. The automaker partnered with Neiman Marcus on the car as part of its Fantasy Gift Launch and to celebrate the release of the new Barbie movie. Only one Grecale Trofeo will be available in the United States as part of the promotion (did they think that's all they could sell?). Like other Trofeos, it uses the 530-horsepower V6 Nettuno engine from the MC20 and features the classic Barbie pink exterior colors. Logos and other graphics accent the loud exterior color. Inside, the black interior features full leather upholstery and leather covering the dash, doors, and other components. The seats feature pink “B” stitching. Maserati and Neiman Marcus estimate the value of the SUV at $330,000. Ten percent of the sales will go to the Barbie Dream Gap Project, so this is more than a vanity project for Maserati and the department store chain. We donÂ’t know much about the other cars that will make appearances in Margo RobbieÂ’s upcoming Barbie remix, but the movieÂ’s teaser poster shows her driving a C1 Corvette with what appears to be a charging port door. An electrified first-generation Corvette would make waves, but even something as unique as that will have a hard time competing with the Grecale for attention. The Maserati MC20's new Nettuno V6 is a high-tech showpiece

Wed, Feb 17 2021

It's been more than two decades since Maserati was in the business of developing an in-house 90-degree V6 engine, and the last one it had traced its genealogy back 30 years. That story started in 1968, when Citroen took a controlling stake in Maserati, and the French requested that the Italians create an engine for the 1970 Citroen SM. Famed Maserati engineer Giulio Alfieri designed a 2.7-liter V6 producing 170 horsepower that could be built using Maserati's existing V8 tooling, hence the 90-degree angle. Alfieri then revised that V6 and bored it out to three liters, upping output to 187 hp, for use in the 1972 Maserati Merak. A decade later, Maserati – now owned by Alejandro de Tomaso, who had fired Alfieri — started with Alfieri's V6 philosophy when developing a mill for a new sports car. The resulting V6 unit, in 2.0-, 2.5-, and 2.8-liter displacements, was the first twin-turbocharged motor put into a production car. That car? The hot, gorgeous mess known as the 1984 Maserati BiTurbo. Almost 10 years on, the 1992 Maserati Ghibli II would get a 2.0-liter version of this 90-degree V6 making 306 horsepower. The 1995 Ghibli Cup turned that mill up to 330 hp, crowning the 2.0-liter V6 as the most power-dense engine in a production car, surpassing 1990s icons like the Jaguar XJ220 and original Bugatti EB110 (both 155 horsepower per liter). When the Ghibli exited production in 1998, Maserati ceded engine development duties to Ferrari by order of Fiat, which owned both automakers. 2022 Maserati MC20 View 47 Photos Nettuno, the new beating heart of Maserati Now we have the Nettuno, a 90-degree 3.0-liter V6 created to power Maserati's renaissance and making its debut in the chunky, aerodynamic form known as the MC20. At 630 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque, the engine almost picks up where the Ghibli Cup left off: with 210 horsepower/liter, the Nettuno is one of the most power-dense in the world. The Bugatti Chiron, Ford GT, and McLaren 756LT don't crack 200 hp/l. The only production cars in the ballpark are Euro specials like the Mercedes-AMG A45 (208.4 hp/l). Beyond it are seven-figure hypercars like the SSC Tuatara (229 hp/l) and Koenigsegg Jesko (256 hp/l on gas, 320 hp/l on E85). The word we're looking for in Italian is bentornato. Welcome back, Maserati.
