2003 PORSCHE BOXSTER 2.7L, 986 TO 987 SPYDER CONVERSION BUILT BY TuneRS Motorsports 2013 You are looking at a truly unique, one of a kind, 2003 Porsche Boxster. This Boxster was converted by TuneRS Motorsports into their "986 to 987 Spyder" look. This vehicle is a head turner on the streets. It's almost hard to tell apart this Boxster from a 987 Spyder when paired together. This 986 Spyder kit fits directly in place of the original convertible top and rear decklid, giving it a true Spyder look. This is a completely functional lid, it seals in place where the original parts used to be. The Spyder lid was molded directly from the 987 Spyder, with exact specifications from the original Porsche part. It is almost impossible to tell it is not a real Porsche part. This kit is also completely reversible. There is no need for cutting, drilling, welding or modifying any part of the body. All of the parts go mounted into original mounting points from the parts that are removed. This boxster runs and drives smooth. Transmission shifts beautifully, engine starts, idles and runs great. The engine was re-freshed during the build by TuneRS Motorsports. It received new piston rings, main bearings, rod bearings, gaskets and seals from bottom up. After the re-fresh, the engine now has about 200 miles on it and runs extremely strong. TuneRS serviced the vehicle front to back. New air filter, new cabin filter, engine and oil filter changed, brake fluid flushed, front brake pads and rotors, new drive belt. Everything on this car is ready to go for a good 6,000 miles until its next service is due. WE ARE OFFERING 1 YEAR OF WARRANTY ON THE POWER TRAIN FOR LOCAL FLORIDA BUYERS. The mileage on the dashboard is the original from the vehicle, 173,000 miles, but the vehicle has a fresh engine, transmission and suspension with less than 200 miles driven. The vehicle is basically new power train wise, but the body has the mileage which is in excellent shape. INTERIOR: The interior on this vehicle is in great shape. 996 TURBO POWER LEATHER SEATS (Minor wear on both seats, but no tears or damage) 996 TURBO LEATHER DOOR PANELS LEATHER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CARRIER CONSOLE PAINTED SILVER TO MATCH EXTERIOR DASHBOARD TRIM PAINTED SILVER LOWER CENTER CONSOLE DELETE (996 GT3 look) RED SEAT BELTS CDR23 RADIO DRIVETRAIN / SUSPENSION / BRAKING: 996 GT3 FRONT / REAR COIL OVERS 996 FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS GMG Racing REAR TOE LINKS FRONT CAMBER PLATES AASCO LIGHTWEIGHT FLYWHEEL BORLA CATBACK EXHAUST SYSTEM TuneRS Motorsports 2 QRT Deep Sump Kit IMS BEARING DIRECT OIL FEED SYSTEM by TuneRS Motorsports 986 BOXSTER S BRAKES (FRONT / REAR) GAS SLOTTED REAR ROTORS WITH NEW PAGID BRAKE PADS CROSS DRILLED FRONT ROTORS WITH NEW PAGID BRAKE PADS STEEL BRAIDED BRAKE LINES (FRONT / REAR) VEHICLE HAS JUST BEEN ALIGNED AND CORNER-BALANCED K&N DROP IN PERFORMANCE HIGH FLOW AIR FILTER TuneRS Motorsports 4" UNDER DRIVE PULLEY EXTERIOR: The exterior on this vehicle is in great shape. 2017 Maserati Quattroporte First Drive
Fri, Jul 15 2016When German companies launch a new luxury sedan, they chat about more power, better economy, and leveraged links to Silicon Valley's hottest microchip and graphics powerhouses. It's not like that in Italy. The Mediterranean peninsula only has one authentic maker of luxury sedans, and cutting-edge consumer technology has never been Maserati's forte. Beautiful cars, sure. Compelling engine notes, yup. The prioritization of handling emotion above cornering speed and even ride quality? Absolutely. Three years ago Maserati thought that blueprint would be enough for its all-new Quattroporte. It wasn't. For starters, the car wasn't beautiful. Compared to the filigreed purity of its predecessor, the QP (as they call it in Modena) looked awkward, even clunky. A big part of that was the sheer scope of the 124.8-inch wheelbase, which made it nigh impossible to deliver the proportional elegance and unfussed panel pressings of its predecessor. Still, the added length provided rear legroom that takes surveyors to measure. More important than what it had (and whether that was good or bad) was what it didn't have. There was no button on the remote to open the trunk, no self-parking system, no reversing camera, definitely no 360-degree camera setup, no radar cruise control, no semi-autonomous steering, and no modern navigation or infotainment. By far the biggest Maserati (at 207.2 inches, it dwarfs most of the standard versions of almost any sedan, anywhere), the Quattroporte now has some small visual changes and enough driver-assistance stuff (like radar cruise) to bring it up to German levels. At least, that's the on-paper argument. Not one of the 2017 model's visual upgrades is metallic. The changes include a new plastic grille (inspired by the design language of the Alfieri concept car), updated lights, and some very subtle differences between the sportier GranSport and the more luxurious GranLusso versions, two new trim packages. The aero guys have been busy, too, with a flat floor and a new Air Shutter that lowers drag by 10 percent and by itself improves the fuel consumption by three percent (anything else is down to stop-start). In a tech, tech, tech world, the Quattroporte is the anti-Tesla. There are no plans to give the big boy any form of hybrid power much less a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Maserati's engineers look at you funny for mentioning hydrogen fuel cell or battery-electric power.
Fiat Chrysler open to mergers, and PSA is looking for one
Fri, Mar 8 2019GENEVA — Fiat Chrysler (FCA) is open to pursuing alliances and merger opportunities if they make sense, but a sale of its luxury brand Maserati is not an option, Chief Executive Mike Manley said on Tuesday. "We have a strong independent future, but if there is a partnership, a relationship or a merger which strengthens that future, I will look at that," Manley told reporters at the Geneva Motor Show. Asked whether he would consider selling Maserati to China's Geely Automobile Holdings, as suggested by recent media reports, Manley said: "Maserati is one of our really beautiful brands and it has an incredibly bright future. ... No." FCA is often cited as a possible merger candidate. Bloomberg said this week that the Italian-American carmaker was attractive to France's PSA Group given its exposure to the U.S. market and its popular Jeep brand. The Detroit News' headline on the situation Friday read, "Fiat Chrysler CEO open to a deal as PSA circles" and stated that Manley's open-to-just-about-anything comments were aimed directly at PSA. Bloomberg said talks between the two were preliminary and said PSA chief Carlos Tavares has also contemplated mergers with General Motors or Jaguar Land Rover, which is losing money for Indian owner Tata. PSA has enjoyed a decade of turnaround and has $10.2 billion in net cash available. The maker of Peugeot, Citroen and DS, acquired Opel and Vauxhall in 2017 and made them almost instantly profitable. Manley, who took over after the death of Sergio Marchionne, said he currently had no news on possible deals. Manley also said the world's seventh-largest carmaker, which is lagging rivals in developing hybrid and electric vehicles, would take the least costly approach to comply with increasingly more stringent European emissions regulations. "There are three options. You can sell enough electrified vehicles to balance your fleet. Two: You can be part of a pooling scheme. Three is to pay the fines," he said. "I don't see a scenario when (carmakers) continue to subsidize technologies ... indefinitely." The carmaker had said last June it would invest 9 billion euros ($10.19 billion) over the next five years to introduce hybrid and electric cars across all regions to be fully compliant with emissions regulations. Asked about a 5-billion-euro investment plan for Italy FCA announced in November but then put under review, Manley said the plan had been confirmed as originally presented.
The troubled Alfa Romeo Giulia needs serious help [UPDATE]
Wed, Feb 10 2016UPDATE: An Alfa Romeo US spokesman responded to this article with the following statement: The safety concerns expressed in the story are false. The all-new 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is designed and engineered to meet or exceed all federal safety regulations. The Alfa Romeo Giulia will begin production for the North American market in the late second-quarter of this year. Alfa Romeo will have a full product portfolio of premium vehicles that includes plans for (8) all-new Alfa Romeo vehicles by 2020. The product launches are prioritized by segment volumes starting this year with the Alfa Romeo Giulia production for North America starting in late Q2, followed by the Midsize-UV – the 2nd largest premium segment in North America. Even on the day you dragged them kicking and screaming and gesticulating wildly to a table full of concrete evidence, Alfa Romeo executives will never admit the Giulia program is going through a tough patch. But it is. Reports say the Giulia, on the eve of production, didn't just fail one internal crash test, but failed the front, side and rear impact tests. Alfa denies it. Automotive News published a report last week saying two suppliers had insisted the Giulia, on the eve of production, didn't just fail one internal crash test, but failed the front-, side-, and rear-impact tests. A third supplier source told us the same thing. Alfa is denying it. It was due on sale in Europe late last year and was supposed to be here in the next month or two. But it wasn't, and it won't. It was to be headlined by a twin-turbo V6 that reportedly howled its way around the Nurburgring 14 seconds faster than the BMW M3 could manage. That second part is only true if you believe it's fair to compare a full lap in a standard BMW M3 with a favorable accumulation of sector times to a development prototype Giulia with 220 pounds stripped out of it and rolling on hand-cut racing slicks. No, me neither. A Promising Start The Giulia's all-new architecture was developed in just two years by a skunkworks of young engineers headed by Fiat's engineering prince, Philippe Krief, and (bafflingly) sited inside Maserati's headquarters complex in Modena, about three hours from Alfa Romeo's own Turin HQ.
