This Maserati Gransport has a 400 horsepower Ferrari-based 4.2 liter V8 engine that revs so quick, it just urges you to get onto the highway open it up! The transmission in this car is equally impressive with technology that is very similar to Formula-1 race cars. It has steering wheel mounted paddle shifters that can make gear changes in a fraction of a second or you can put it in full automatic mode.  This Maserati is in phenomenal shape inside and out. The paint and body are nearly flawless and the interior is exceptionally clean. The seats are very comfortable GranSport bucket seats that have nice side bolsters and they are power adjustable in every way.  Everything works flawlessly.  I keep this in my private jet hanger in Scottsdale, Arizona when it is not driven, and it is available to see at almost any time.

The engine, which is almost identical to the 4.3-liter V-8 in the Ferrari F430, is "blueprinted"-built with selected components to finer tolerances than the standard Maserati-and has a different exhaust system and inlet manifolds. And taking a cue from Ferrari, the exhaust system has a pneumatic valve to reduce back pressure and make a supercar note when the "sport" button is pressed.

  • Carbon fiber interior trim
  • Six-speed sequential manual.
  • 4,244 cc 4.2 liters V 8 front engine with 92 mm bore, 79.8 mm stroke, 11.1 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder
  • It has SkyHook active dampening suspension which can instantly adjust the firmness of its shocks in a corner to prevent body roll and gives incredible handling without affecting overall ride quality.  The GranSport also has a slightly more tuned exhaust system with by-pass valves for additional horsepower and a slightly more aggressive tone in the upper RPM range.
  • Front Trofeo Grigio Mercury lightweight allow wheels with 19 inch rim diam and 8 inch rim width , rear with 19 inch rim diam and 9.5 inch rim width – Gunmetal Grey
  • Red (Rosso)brake calipers

Maserati was a theft recovery.  Many states unfortunately require that the title is changed to a salvage title after a theft recovery.  I have a Maserati dealer pre-purchase vehicle inspection report showing every quality aspect of the car, the maintenance and the absolute clarity that this car was never wrecked. Zero frame damage, no body panels were replaced.  This has now been issued a reconstructed title in Arizona. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles performed a complete inspection in compliance with the Arizona Department of Transportation to prove that this vehicle is roadworthy in the same manner as it was originally built at the factory.

KBB value of this vehicle is $46,383.  NADA is $52,200.  This is priced to sell.

Robb Report reviewed the GranSport in February 2006 in their Car of the Year competition:

A fierce but distinguished daily driver The GranSport is a refinement of Maserati’s Coupe Cambiocorsa, with extra power, tighter suspension, aggressive but tasteful bodywork, and interior options that set this sports GT apart from every other car in its class.  The update of Italdesign-Giugiaros original form appears handsome and purposeful The GranSports considerable power derives from a delicious, high-revving V-8 The sound throughout the rev range is worth the price of admission especially when the car is in Sport mode, when freer-flowing exhaust and quicker shift mapping add layers to the motors music. One would not be insane to buy this vehicle for the exhaust note alone The best electronic gearbox on the market apart from the Ferrari 612, this may be the only GT in which four adults can travel in comfort, which places it high on the daily-driver list.  The Maserati also will appeal more to the performance-oriented driver who wants a less flashy exterior, a superior fit and finish, and a race-derived drivetrain.

Maserati Shamal restomod is sketched out and could become reality

Mon, Nov 23 2020

Remember the Maserati Shamal? Alright, maybe you don’t, but Maserati certainly hasnÂ’t forgotten. As this year's quasi-virtual SEMA show continues, Maserati has joined the fray by threatening to build a restomodded version of the Shamal. All we have to go on are some renderings posted to Instagram, but Maserati does a bit of explaining in its post. The company is calling this Project Rekall. If Maserati goes through with it, weÂ’d end up with a sci-fi Shamal full of modern technology conveniences and some epic, retro design. Maserati says it needs help to turn this idea into reality, and by that they mean people need to show some financial interest in such a thing. Since the Instagram post is on the Maserati Fuoriserie account, we'll assume this customization arm of the company would be doing the work. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. As a quick history lesson, the Shamal is an exceedingly rare Maserati that was sold in the early-to-mid 1990s. It was designed in part by Marcello Gandini, the famous Italian car designer who happens to have the Miura, Countach and so many other famous designs on his resume. Power came from a 3.2-liter twin-turbo V8, and it used a front-engine, rear-drive layout. These renderings depict a deeply changed Shamal. And while the boxiness and sharp edges remain, many elements of the car were revised. The changes are most obvious inside, where Maserati is showing a totally digital instrument cluster and some spacey bucket seats. WeÂ’d love to see Maserati turn it into reality, so if youÂ’re someone who would purchase a restomodded Shamal, speak up now. This content is hosted by a third party. It looks as though it was lifted, fitted with studded winter tires and given a set of skis to carry around. And for whatever reason, Maserati also drew a caution tape insert on the side of the mid-engine supercar. This MC20 is definitely far off in SEMA fantasy land, but we still fully support anyone who ends up using their MC20 in the snow one day.

Drive like a prince: Join us for a walk through Monaco's car collection

Fri, Dec 29 2023

Small, crowded, and a royal pain in the trunk lid to drive into during rush hour, Monaco sounds like an improbable location for a huge car museum. And yet, this tiny city-state has been closely linked to car culture for over a century. It hosts two major racing events every year, many of its residents would qualify for a frequent shopper card if Rolls-Royce issued one, and Prince Rainier III began assembling a collection of cars in the late 1950s. He opened his collection to the public in 1993 and the museum quickly turned into a popular tourist attraction. The collection continued to grow after his death in April 2005; it moved to a new facility located right on Hercules Port in July 2022. Monaco being Monaco, you'd expect to walk into a room full of the latest, shiniest, and most powerful supercars ever to shred a tire. That's not the case: while there is no shortage of high-horsepower machines, the first cars you see after paying ˆ10 (approximately $11) to get in are pre-war models. In that era, the template for the car as we know it in 2023 hadn't been created, so an eclectic assortment of expensive and dauntingly experimental machines roamed whatever roads were available to them. One is the Leyat Helica, which was built in France in 1921 with a 1.2-liter air-cooled flat-twin sourced from the world of aviation. Fittingly, the two-cylinder spun a massive, plane-like propeller. Government vehicles get a special spot in the museum. They range from a Cadillac Series 6700 with an amusing blend of period-correct French-market yellow headlights and massive fins to a 2011 Lexus LS 600h with a custom-made transparent roof panel that was built by Belgian coachbuilder Carat Duchatelet for Prince Albert II's wedding. Here's where it all gets a little weird: you've got a 1952 Austin FX3, a Ghia-bodied 1959 Fiat 500 Jolly, a 1960 BMW Isetta, and a 1971 Lotus Seven. That has to be someone's idea of a perfect four-car garage.  One of the most significant cars in the collection lurks in the far corner of the main hall, which is located a level below the entrance. At first glance, it's a kitted-out Renault 4CV with auxiliary lights, a racing number on the front end, and a period-correct registration number issued in the Bouches-du-Rhone department of France. It doesn't look all that different than the later, unmodified 4CV parked right next to it. Here's what's special about it: this is one of the small handful of Type 1063 models built by Renault for competition.

Maserati teases MC20 prototype again reminiscing about the Targa Florio

Tue, May 26 2020

Maserati spent its weekend reminiscing about victory in the 1940 Targa Florio, putting an MC20 prototype to work enhancing the gravitas of the anniversary. After winning the Targa in 1937, 1938, and 1939 with the Maserati 6CM and its 1.5-liter supercharged inline-six throwing 175 horsepower, the House of the Trident showed up in 1940 with the brand new 4CL powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder cranking 220 hp. Luigi Villoresi, who'd driven the 6CM to triumph the year before, crossed the line first in the 4CL to close out European racing until the end of World War II. With a return to racing on the automaker's mind, Maserati took a camouflaged MC20 to the same Favorita Park roads that hosted the Targa. The soft-focus spy shots were taken in front of the Floriopoli stands, a stretch of bunting and banners not far from the Targa start line as historic competitors headed into the Sicilian mainland. The MC20 is as photogenic in these shots as all the others, and as mysterious. The automaker seems intent on making everyone wait until the September debut to for any details that the prototype doesn't put on display. Prime among enthusiast interest is the powerplant. With Ferrari shutting down its supply of engines to the fellow Modenese sports car maker, Maserati says its new mid-engined coupe will be "the first car to use [its] new engine, brimming with innovative technological contents, developed and built by Maserati in-house." Short odds figure on a molto potente twin-turbo V6 sending power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, the long money isn't afraid to bet on a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8  to replace the F154 V8 that Ferrari provides. With race engineers undoubtedly sorting out a version for sports car racing as we speak, Maserati will certainly hope the competitive version matches the exploits of the 4CL. The vintage race car took pole in its first race, earned its first victory two races later, snatched up a bag of silverware before WWII, won the first race held in Europe after the war ended, and continued winning in 4CL and 4CLT trim until 1951 to take 31 total victories — nine more than the MC12 race car.
