A better formatted description, pictures and documentation for the car can be found here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_JO9QbXOPBmT1hhUWpXOElKbG8&usp=sharing Overview The 2003 Lotus Esprit V8 is a RWD 2dr coupe powered by a twin-turbo charged 3.5 liter all-aluminum engine producing 350hp. This example has a Black exterior and Raffia leather interior. It is one of two cars produced with this combination. There are 33,250 miles on the car. There are Michelin Super Sport tires (245/40 ZR17 & 285/35 ZR18) with less than 100 miles recently fitted to the car. The original glass roof is included, as well as the color-matched painted roof. All original keys are included. Condition The car is all original, except for the Lotus Elise steering wheel upgrade and modern Pioneer stereo head unit and plastic front spoiler lips. The original carbon fiber “sharp” lips and the OEM rubber lips are included, but not currently installed. Mechanically, the car is in excellent condition, as you would expect for a car with such low milage. Visually, the car is in very good condition with a bit of wear on the corners of the painted roof and the metal door sills and a few minor scrapes on the plastic front bumper lips and a couple of rock chips on the hood/facia. Ownership history The car was most recently purchased by my father in January of 2013. He re-imported it back into the US after purchasing it from an owner in Ottawa Canada. He installed the Elise steering wheel, OEM OZ Novas and a new OEM cat-back exhaust. The canadian owner kept good paper records for the car and had it professionally serviced from 22k to 31k miles. The owners prior to 2011 have services recorded in Carfax at the recommended intervals. Accessories
Personal testament and driving impressions I’m selling this car as a consequence of my father’s unexpected death in July of this year. I am the current titled owner. As fantastic and extraordinary as I think this car is, it just doesn’t make sense for me to own it. I’m not the person who can drive and enjoy the car to it’s fullest. In the few miles that I have driven the car, I have found it to be an incredible, visceral experience. This is a car that excites all the senses. The exhaust note is superb and something that you can really only get with a mid-mounted V8 and short pipes. When the windows are down, the blow-off valves can be a bit startling, but with both turbochargers mounted less than a foot from your head, you have a keen understanding of what they are doing at any one time. Rolling up the windows quiets most all turbo sound from within the cabin. I find the stereo in this car to be completely worthless. It’s a fantastic and modern unit with Bluetooth, USB and great controls, but I rarely find the desire to listen to it, given the symphony of noises that the engine and exhaust emit. The car simply handles like it’s on rails. It is so low and exhibits virtually no body roll. I have not found the limit of adhesion with this car and won’t advise anyone else to attempt it unless you’re autocrossing or on a track. With a suspension this geared toward performance, you’re going to notice which roads are crap and which ones are smooth. Turbo lag is noticeable but the onset of power after 3k RPM is manageable. It feels a bit like lighting the candle on a solid fuel booster, but the power can be easily modulated once you get used to the timing of when it really starts to build. You can listen to the idle exhaust note of the car here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEtWbar-5L0 |

Lotus team out of Le Mans, full driver list published
Tue, 20 May 2014We can scratch off one more car from the list for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Lotus T129 LMP1 car has been dropped from the entry list of the 82nd running of the historic race, with organizers citing "a lack of preparation" as the reason. On a more positive note, the list of 168 drivers in 56 vehicles has been officially published for the June 14 race.
Like the Lotus team currently in Formula One, the Lotus T129 uses the iconic British brand's name and colors but is actually built by a separate company. It previously ran a Lola chassis in the LMP2-class (pictured above). The Le Mans organizers claim the car will likely be on display during the 24-hour race, but it won't make it's competition debut until the World Endurance Championship round at the Circuit of the Americas in September. The T129 is being replaced by an Oreca 03 chassis with Nissan power in the LMP2 class, entered by Millennium Racing.
The Lotus' retirement came as the teams had to send in the names of the three drivers nominated to race each car. This year there are racers from 26 countries with the most coming from France (39), Britain (29), the US (17) and Italy (15). The latest tally of entries breaks down to 9 LMP1s, 19 LMP2s, 9 LM GTE Pros, 18 LM GTE Ams and the Nissan ZEOD RC as the experimental Garage 56 entry.
Lotus Eletre configurator welcomes virtual tire kickers
Sun, Apr 17 2022The Lotus Eletre configurator is ready to be toyed with. There aren't that many customization options to play with, but the total experience is quite fun. The exterior palette consists of seven colors. The odd bit is that, try what browser we may, we couldn't get the names of those seven colors to appear anywhere. The menu looks like black, green, red, yellow, and three shades of silver, but clicking the latter three reveals what looks like a metallic silver, a flat gray, and a rose-tinted-something. Same with the interior, which comes in green, black, white, or beige. All but black result in a two-tone cabin. Things are much easier when it comes to wheels. The floral petal rims either come in all black or black with polished accents, the center caps are either Lotus yellow or black, and the calipers are either yellow, red, green, black, or charcoal. For those of you unsure about the Eletre's looks, the well stocked Animations, Beautyshots, and Environments sections could get you on board with the styling — it did for us; a red Eletre under a cosmopolitan setting spoke to us in a way the yellow debut model did not. A couple of notes, though. Choose your colors in one of the Environments; the ambient lighting in the Beautyshots changes the vehicle lighting like in real life, turning the bright yellow calipers into a dusty gray in one instance, for example. The animations that show off features like the aero shutters in the grille and the active rear spoiler need a couple of clicks to perform. And again, just like in real life, the Eletre only does what you tell it; if you leave the hatch up in the Boot animation then click the Spoiler or Front Left Door, the boot stays up. Click to a city environment with the driver's door and hatch open and you'll be crystal clear as to what the Eletre looks at the end of a shopping run, a feature we've never seen in a configurator before. You have your mission and your cautions, now go play. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Lotus Exige S tears the roof off
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Some things just don't make sense. But then we're not sure they really have to. Imagine Porsche took the Cayman, which is essentially the coupe version of the Boxster, and turned it into a convertible. Wouldn't make much sense, would it? Well that's essentially what Lotus did with the creation of the Exige S Roadster.
The Exige, you see, was already the fixed-roof version of the Elise. So what was the point in turning it back into a roadster? That's what our friends at XCar tried to ascertain in the video below. We could tell you what conclusion they arrived at, but that would spoil all the fun. So we'll just let you enjoy the seven-minute clip and see for yourself. Just remember: it doesn't have to make sense. It just has to be a Lotus.
