Lotus Esprit, One Of Nicest Around !!! on 2040-cars
Palmdale, California, United States
Hello:
I am selling my 1997 Lotus V8 twin turbo supercar. My Esprit is without a doubt one of the most immaculate V8 examples around, especially for the model year. Cosmetics are superb, most people think it is a new car. Mechanics are in great shape, have extensive service records, all owners have been beyond meticulous and this Esprit has definitely been maintained to the highest standards. Last owner took immaculate care and spared no expense, he lived in San Diego, CA and kept it for 7 years. I purchased car in August 2011, would keep it for years but other priorities take precedence. Has only been serviced at Symbolic Motors, Viking Motors and Lotus by Claudius since in California. The highlights are as follows: 1. Schedule C service, new Gates blue HD belts and pulleys, about 4 mos and 1000 miles ago. 2. Royal Purple synthetic oil change, same day as installation of belts etc. Old oil was as clean as day it was changed and engine did not use a drop. 3. New low idle control module. 4. New O2 sensors, just passed California smog test with flying colors, emission readings were very low. 5. Clutch and second gear were replaced about 9.2K miles ago. I have about the nicest Renault gearbox around. Shifting is precise, syncros are great, reverse is solid with no issues. 6. Alternator was replaced upon delivery to me from Symbolic motors. New Bosch battery with lifetime warranty 7. Currently has Lotus Factory high output ECU installed (have receipt for $ 2500) and also have "Race ECU" which might go along with purchase. 8. Lotus by Claudius "cat back custom exhaust", sounds much better than stock but does not affect smog equipment in any way. 9. Blow off valves, Labor alone was $ 1100 by Lotus by Claudius 10. Michelin Pilot tires are: front 60% but older and compound is hard, best to be replaced ($ 450 for set). Rear tires are 70 % and in great shape. Rotors are in very good condition, Newer pads and complete suspension was recently checked and nothing out of ordinary wear and tear was found 11. Alpine CD deck, IPOD connector, remote, with upgraded speakers and subwoofer in passenger floorboard, professionally installed. System sounds fantastic 12. Momo red insert steering wheel installed and factory airbag wheel included 13. Upgraded when car was new OZ Wheels Futura rims 14. Have all books, keys, toolkit, expensive hard copy of Factory service manual, Lotus OEM red wind deflector. 15. No codes, No check engine light, Lotus by Claudius tested the on board computer system with their Lotus handheld module and there are no issues of any kind. Lastly, I am extremely picky when it comes to cosmetics on a car, I rate the interior a strong 9.5 (only flaw is one minor scuff on driver side seating bolster, easy fix) and exterior a strong 9.4 (few tiny rock chips( about 6 total) on front end which are very small and touched up, cannot prevent this from happening) .Original Red paint looks like a 2012 with extreme gloss, no clearcoat issues,no scratches etc. Clean Carfax and Autocheck, I feel very confident if a potential buyer viewed my car in person would be more than pleased with overall condition. In closing if you factor in all the recent preventive maintenance, newer clutch and 2nd gear, very sound mechanics and ultra clean cosmetics this is just a fantastic turn key example and a extremely well priced Esprit !!! If you have any questions please contact me and I will be more than pleased to answer all inquiries. Thanks |

Lotus F1 apologizes for tweeting support for LGBT Olympians
Mon, 10 Feb 2014The Lotus Formula One Team is apologizing after its official Twitter account posted this image of two men kissing in connection to the opening of the Winter Olympics on Friday, February 7. It claims that the original tweet was "unauthorized."
The tweet, which Lotus deleted later that day, can be viewed to the right and was promptly replaced an apology that said, "We would like to sincerely apologise for an unauthorized message posted on our Twitter account today & will ensure this cannot happen again." Responses to the kerfuffle on its Twitter page have mostly focused on confusion as to what the original tweet was and why it was removed.
While the Sochi Olympics have been controversial among LBGT groups because of Russia's laws banning so-called "gay propaganda," the country has a growing importance in F1. In fact, the first Russian Grand Prix is scheduled to run later this season on a circuit around the Sochi Olympic Park. Genii Capital, the team's owner, has business interests in Russia, and according to the BBC, the Lotus F1 team is working on a deal to with Russian mobile phone company Yotaphone to sell it 10 percent of the team.
Lotus Type 132 electric SUV previewed ahead of March 29 debut
Tue, Mar 1 2022Lotus is about to unveil its most important and most controversial car. It will jump into the electric crossover segment when it launches a model called Type 132 internally, and it released a short video that gives us a preview of what the people-hauler looks like inside and out. Aimed at the Porsche Cayenne, among other high-riding and high-horsepower machines, the Type 132 will spearhead the British firm's entry into the mainstream; it likely won't be a high-volume model but we're betting it will become the best-selling Lotus. The preview video reveals a handful of styling cues, like a light bar that stretches across the rear end, and it confirms that the cabin will offer a long list of tech features. Drivers will face a digital instrument cluster and a meaty steering wheel with backlit buttons and a pair of shift paddles, though it's too early to tell what purpose they'll serve. We know that the Type 132 — a name which won't be retained for production — will be entirely electric so the paddles will very likely not be connected to a gearbox. Both are labeled "+" and they may be used to adjust the level of regenerative braking. If that's the case, then odds are there's also a "-" symbol on each paddle that's hidden from view in the 1:12-long teaser video (shown above). Lotus Type 132 preview View 4 Photos Spy shots taken in China in February 2022 suggest that the Type 132 will tilt more towards the sporty side of the crossover scale; Lotus isn't interested in rivaling, say, the Mercedes-Benz GLS in terms of passenger and cargo space. The sheet metal will hide a modular platform called Evolution Architecture, and the crossover will reach 60 mph from a stop in under three seconds in its most powerful configuration thanks in part to a dual-motor powertrain. It will be interesting to find out how Lotus, whose founder's now-famous motto was "simplify, then add lightness," will offset the lithium-ion battery pack's significant weight. Lightweight materials, like carbon fiber, will certainly play a role. Lotus will introduce the Type 132 online on March 29, and production will start shortly after in a new facility located in Wuhan, China. Looking ahead, the company plans to continue its model offensive by releasing a four-door sedan that's called Type 133 and tentatively due out in 2023, a second SUV known as Type 134 that we should see in 2025, and a sports car dubbed Type 135 that will make its debut in 2026.
European commission investigating F1 finances and anti-competitive accusations
Fri, Jan 9 2015The Kingdom of Formula One reminds us of renaissance Florence - ruled by a singular chieftan behind a mask of representative involvement, rife with spectacularly convoluted machinations, awash in innovations that help define our world and far-flung, vindictive misery. If we found out Bernie Ecclestone's real last name was de Medici, well, it would explain a lot. Now after a bit of back-and-forth, the European Commission (EC) has taken aim at the kingdom, investigating whether F1 is anti-competitive and if the FIA has abused its antitrust agreement. The reason for EC scrutiny is that a British member of the European Parliament who represents an area in southwest England, Anneliese Dodds, has fielded complaints from engineering companies in her constituency that recent moves in F1 have put them out of business. She wrote to the EC to question why the FIA now has a stake in F1 when it signed an agreement in 2001 to be solely a governing body and abdicate any stakeholding in the sport. She also questioned the F1 Strategy Group, a group of the six top teams in F1 that makes decisions about the direction of the sport; she says that the Strategy Group not only appears to be a case of the F1 shirking its rule-making duty, it has resulted in unfair treatment of the small teams that aren't in the group. Dodds has a bit of a point. In 2001, the FIA sold F1's commercial rights to Ecclestone for 100 years for a sum of $313.7 million. That was done to placate European regulators who insisted that "the role of FIA will be limited to that of a sports regulator, with no commercial conflicts of interest." Although the rights are ultimately owned by the FIA and bring in a $10M fee every year from Formula One, those rights bring in $1.6 billion each year to Formula One Management (FOM), the company that owns F1. When Ecclestone was trying to get the new Concorde Agreement signed in 2013 that governs the running of the sport, the FIA wouldn't sign, saying it wanted F1 to share a larger slice of its revenue – the FIA has been losing money for years, see. To the get the FIA to sign, Ecclestone sold it a one-percent stake in F1 for $460,000 and gave the FIA a $5M signing 'bonus;' whenever F1 has its IPO, that stake is estimated to be worth about $120 million - not a bad return. Yet, according to the aforementioned 2001 agreement, the FIA can't have that equity stake.
