2001 lOTUS eSPRIT

BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE WITH 25K MILES IN OUTSTANDING CONDITION, OWNED AND WELL MAINTAINED BY ENTHUSIAST/PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC, GREAT RECORDS, Original window sticker, Comes with $1500 BRAND NEW CLUTCH IN BOX (NOT NEEDED)

This 2001 Lotus Esprit, Calypso Red over a Tan interior, is a three owner car in incredible original condition. It's most recent owner is a professional mechanic and true Lotus enthusiast. He has carefully maintained and preserved the car. As he told me, "I drive it like a Camry." The car was bought new at Lotus of Denver and then had one subsequent owner before coming to the east coast.

Mechanically, the car has several nice upgrades. The most noticeable are the genuine 3 piece HRE wheels, which the previous owner purchased at a cost of over $4000. They are stock size and the tires were replaced two years ago and still look virtually new with only several hundred miles on them. The car is equipped with a Tubi exhaust and sport cats, as well as blow off valves. The car also runs a fully adjustable suspension with poly bushings. The timing belt was replaced with a Gates belt 500 miles ago. Gates belts are long lasting alternatives to the stock belts. The oil was also changed with fresh Motul 500 miles ago, along with brake fluid (Motful) and antifreeze (Mercedes Blue.) The car comes with great service records and receipts. The car is being sold with a brand new factory clutch still in the box. The owner says the car does not need it, it's just something he bought to put on when the car needed it in the future.

The nose and sills of the car are wrapped in a Star Shield clear bra to protect it from the road. The overall condition of the car is remarkable, with only a few minor signs of use, namely a few small stone chips, the normal (but slight) wear to the driver's side seat bolster, and a few small cracks in very edge of the front wheelarches because the car previously wore 19 inch wheels. Other than that, the car is about as immaculate as you could get for a 13 year old car with 25,700 miles on it. The paint is absolutely beautiful and the interior looks practically brand new. It has a clean carfax (see pics below.) According to the previous owner car has never been tracked or abused in any way. I have not driven the car, but the owner says it drives excellent.

The car comes with all its records, its original window sticker, a fitted car cover, as well as a number of items for the next tune up. Iridium plugs, plenum gasket, plug wires, etc. A new clutch for the car is also available for an additional cost, for future use.

The car, as with all my vehicles, has a clean and clear title transferred properly through my dealership.

Recap: 2013 Australian Formula One Grand Prix is all about the rubber [w/spoilers]

Sun, 17 Mar 2013

A pre-season full of talking points was swapped for a brand-new set of talking points after the running of the opening grand prix of the 2013 Formula One season. The consistency of the regulations from last year to this year and the triplicate dominance of Infiniti Red Bull Racing meant that no one would have been that surprised if the relative order of things remained the same. But teams found so many ways to switch things up that, in typical pre-season fashion, no one was ready to make any bets on in-season performance, and a couple of surprising players suffered the ignominy of getting it really wrong: McLaren knew it was in trouble from the very first test, while Williams drivers applauded their car as the best in years, only to have Pastor Maldonado call it "undriveable" on the very first day of practice in Melbourne.
And then there were those Pirellis, the Italian company talking up the fact that its super soft tires would only go off so quickly that it would force teams to pit at least twice during the race.
Even then, no one could have seen the first round of pit stops beginning on Lap 5.

2017 Renault Alpine still looks like a Lotus

Thu, Jul 23 2015

Two years ago, an oddly modified Lotus Exige was photographed speeding around the Nurburgring. While that car looked British, at the time Renault's engineers were reportedly developing the suspension for the future Alpine sports coupe underneath with some help from the folks at Ohlins. Now, our spies have spotted this weird Lotus-bodied mule out testing, and it might be a major hint that development for the reborn French brand is getting serious again. Unfortunately, it's hard to pull many details about the future Alpine just from this mule. Up front the air extractors are noticeably covered, and at the rear there's now a panel hiding the engine with just some small vents near the very back. The roof-mounted scoop appears to be the major means of sending cool air to the powertrain. Alpine has been back in the news as of late. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the brand's Celebration Concept was unveiled but without many real details. Then, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the car was filmed actually moving under its own power. Earlier reports suggest that a production version, possibly called the AS1, might come in 2017 with around 250 horsepower on tap from an engine mounted behind the driver. Engineers would keep weight as low as possible to make the most from that power. While no version in the US is likely, prices in Europe might be about the equivalent of $34,000 to $40,000.

Radford Type 62-2 is rad, a coachbuilt sports car based on Lotus underpinnings

Mon, Aug 9 2021

There’s a new coachbuilder out there, and the company calls itself Radford. Today, Radford revealed its first car — the Type 62-2 — and itÂ’s based on the chassis and underpinnings of the Lotus Evora. ThatÂ’s an extremely good place to begin building from. Plus, the company has some big names attached to it. F1 racer Jenson Button is the one who dialed in the carÂ’s driving dynamics. Mark Stubbs, formerly of Bentley, Bugatti, Aston Martin and more, led the design process. And Ant Anstead, now co-hosting "Wheeler Dealers," is handling the build/production work. There may be an Evora underneath all the new bodywork, but this vehicle doesnÂ’t look like one on the outside. Instead, itÂ’s meant to take after the original Lotus Type 62 race car. Take one quick look at both, and it appears as though Radford has done a standup job of getting it there. ItÂ’s even been revealed initially in livery worn by the old Type 62. WeÂ’ll note that there will be two cars with slightly different looks. The first is a “Classic” version without a wing and fitted with staggered 17/18-inch wheels. The other model is called “Gold Leaf,” and it has the Type 62Â’s wings, can be done in the livery you see here and features larger center-locking 18/19-inch wheels. Thanks to the aluminum-intensive structure of the Evora, the Radford Type 62-2 weighs just under 2,205 pounds. Radford saved additional weight by using all carbon fiber body panels. This lightweight body is propelled forward via the 3.5-liter Toyota-provided supercharged V6 used in the Evora. Its base tune in the Type 62-2 offers up 430 horsepower. However, upgrading from the Classic to the Gold Leaf brings an increase to 500 horsepower. Radford says it gets the extra power via upgraded pistons, connecting rods, camshafts and new electronic engine mapping. If you want the extra power in the Classic, Radford says you can still optionally have it. As you may already suspect, a six-speed manual transmission is available on the Type 62-2. Unlike the Evora, though, you can also spec a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. ItÂ’s the only transmission available if you spec the engine up to 500 horsepower, so pick your poison on that front — thereÂ’s no manual available for the high-power version. As for the suspension, Radford says itÂ’s lowered the car more and changed the suspension geometry a bit compared to the standard Lotus design — thanks, Jenson.
