BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE WITH 25K MILES IN OUTSTANDING CONDITION, OWNED AND WELL MAINTAINED BY ENTHUSIAST/PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC, GREAT RECORDS, Original window sticker

This 2001 Lotus Esprit, Calypso Red over a Tan interior, is a three owner car in incredible original condition. It's most recent owner is a professional mechanic and true Lotus enthusiast. He has carefully maintained and preserved the car. As he told me, "I drive it like a Camry." The car was bought new at Lotus of Denver and then had one subsequent owner before coming to the east coast.

Mechanically, the car has several nice upgrades. The most noticeable are the genuine 3 piece HRE wheels, which the previous owner purchased at a cost of over $4000. They are stock size and the tires were replaced two years ago and still look virtually new with only several hundred miles on them. The car is equipped with a Tubi exhaust and sport cats, as well as blow off valves. The car also runs a fully adjustable suspension with poly bushings. The timing belt was replaced with a Gates belt 500 miles ago. Gates belts are long lasting alternatives to the stock belts. The oil was also changed with fresh Motul 500 miles ago, along with brake fluid (Motful) and antifreeze (Mercedes Blue.) The car comes with great service records and receipts.

The nose and sills of the car are wrapped in a Star Shield clear bra to protect it from the road. The overall condition of the car is remarkable, with only a few minor signs of use, namely a few small stone chips, the normal (but slight) wear to the driver's side seat bolster, and a few small cracks in very edge of the front wheelarches because the car previously wore 19 inch wheels. Other than that, the car is about as immaculate as you could get for a 13 year old car with 25,700 miles on it. The paint is absolutely beautiful and the interior looks practically brand new. It has a clean carfax (see pics below.) According to the previous owner car has never been tracked or abused in any way.

The car comes with all its records, its original window sticker, a fitted car cover, as well as a number of items for the next tune up. Iridium plugs, plenum gasket, plug wires, etc. A new clutch for the car is also available for an additional cost, for future use.

The car, as with all my vehicles, has a clean and clear title transferred properly through my dealership.

Genii capitalizing on Lotus F1 tech with new sports car?

Fri, 24 Jan 2014

Detractors will tell you that there's little to be applied from Formula One racing to the cars we drive, but what about the cars most of us could only dream of driving? We're talking about supercars from the likes of Ferrari and McLaren - two hugely successful F1 racing teams that have successfully made the transition into building exotic sports cars for the road. And soon there may be one more.
That would be the Lotus F1 Team, which is rumored to be working on a sports car project of its own. Now we know what you might be thinking: Lotus already makes sports cars. Indeed they do, only the F1 team has nothing more to do with the automaker behind the Exige and Evora than the name they share. Today the team (formerly known as Toleman, Benetton and Renault) is owned by Genii Capital, whose chairman Gerald Lopez recently confirmed the rumors to Auto Motor und Sport: "We are going to develop a carbon chassis for a sports car that can be built in large quantities.... But this has nothing to do with Formula 1."
With little to nothing in the way of details available, the circulating rumors had tied the venture to on-again, off-again Italian auto marque De Tomaso. But our source at ATS (which recently bought the rights to the De Tomaso name following Gian Mario Rossignolo's aborted attempt to revive it) firmly denied the prospect of any such collaboration. Spokesmen for the Lotus F1 Team would not divulge any information; neither would the press office for parent company Genii Capital, leaving the door wide open to speculation once again.

2015 Japanese Grand Prix is a little Mercedes, a lot of zen

Mon, Sep 28 2015

Just one week on from the issues in Singapore Mercedes-AMG Petronas appeared to have solved its clamp problems and everything else. Daniil Kvyat at Infiniti Red Bull Racing took the two Free Practice scalps on Friday, but when it came time for qualifying the front of the grid looked really familiar: Mercedes' Nico Rosberg took his second pole position of the season, Lewis Hamilton next to him in second. Kvyat had a hand in that, too, the Russian getting into a big accident in Q3 when he put two wheels on the grass heading into the hairpin and veered into the tire wall so hard that he flipped. That ended qualifying before a number of drivers had a chance to improve their times, Hamilton among them. That's how Valtteri Bottas got in third for Willliams ahead of Sebastian Vettel fourth for Ferrari. Felipe Massa had the second Williams in fifth, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in the second Ferrari. Daniel Ricciardo lined up sixth for Infiniti Red Bull Racing, a team we're going to have to enjoy watching for the rest of the season since it might not exist come 2016. Romain Grosjean gave Lotus some good news by getting into eighth, the team so strapped for cash that it couldn't get into its hospitality area, so it held press conferences outside and ate at Bernie Ecclestone's Paddock Club. Sergio Perez took ninth for Sahara Force India, and Kvyat slotted into tenth after not setting a time. The Russsian's race would begin from the pit lane once his mechanics rebuilt his car. It wouldn't be a Formula One start lately without someone at the front having clutch problems. This time it was pole man Rosberg, whose power unit got too hot and put him a few horsepower down on Hamilton through Turns 1 and 2. That's half of how Hamilton took the lead from the lights going out, and the Brit kept it throughout the race. Rosberg, however, said his race was lost when Hamilton pushed him wide through Turn 2, a move Hamilton defended. Rosberg finished almost 19 seconds behind his teammate, a gap that probably isn't fully explained by that opening incident. Hamilton's race was so uneventful that we almost never saw him on camera – that is, we saw him so much less than we usually see him when he's out in front and unpressured that Nikki Lauda said he'd ask Ecclestone why the cameras avoided him. The conspiracy theory holds that FOM was punishing Mercedes for not supplying Red Bull with engines next year.

Lotus settles with ex-CEO Dany Bahar, avoids London High Court

Sun, 25 May 2014

Five years after it began, it appears the Dany Bahar tenure at Lotus is finally over. After former Lotus owner Proton brought in the ex-Ferrari and Red Bull marketing savant to run the company in 2009, everything had gone pear-shaped by 2012: Proton had been sold to Malaysian auto supplier DRB-Hicom, who suspended Bahar and then fired him for what it said were expense-account transgressions (although Bob Lutz reportedly said something different).
The separation led to the expected suit and countersuit, Lotus going after Bahar to get its money back, Bahar filing a $10.6-million suit againt Lotus for wrongful termination and potential bonus money. The case was set to go to trial next month but both parties have settled, the terms undisclosed, a DRB-Hicom statement saying only that "the parties involved in the legal suit have signed a Settlement Agreement and Release... and have agreed to withdraw their claims against each other."
Now that that bit of housecleaning is all cleared up, can new CEO Jean-Marc Gales please get our Esprit?
