Light scratches in paint due to being a ten year old black car. Rear engine cover has two small tears in the rubber only.No dents dings."

This is probably the cleanest Esprit out there. Owned before me by two best friends in Cota de Casa California. This car just had new tires due to age not wear, k&N filter, oil and Filter done at 8718 miles. Approx 7000.00 in recent service was done by Newport Beach Lotus, Valve adjustment, trans seals, plenum and valve cover seals, hoses under plenum and all radiator and one heater hose were replaced, tire sensors also, these were all done due to age and recommendation from the lotus shop. The car also has hyflo cats, optima battery, car cover, factory service manuals,2 keys, sunroof and cover and correct rubber seal, wind deflector, copy of MSRP, Carbon front splitter. Leather seats were redone in new leather and bolsters were improved for more comfort. This car is still being driven slightly by me so miles will go up a little. car is being sold due to health issues, but it is not a fire sale. This again is a super car owned by a anal owner. Please!!! only bid if you can buy and have the money, clean auto check and carfax and question do not hesitate to call 714 269 1810. I have sold three cars on E bay and 100% feedback in fact the last one the buyer said it was better than described. Thank You Julian.

Final Run Esprit
2003
1/2  and 2004 MY
The last production of 33 Federal Esprit's was known as the "Esprit Final Run Edition". In all states except California, this car was be labeled as a 2004 MY. In California, the car was sold as a 2003 1/2 MY car. This was done to avoid some of the more stringent environmental regulations which went into effect for that state for 2004 and newer cars. These regulations would have involved further development of the ECM software code at a  great expense to Lotus. Since this was the last year of production, it was decided it would be more sensible to simply refer to those cars as 2003 1/2  cars instead.

The 2004MY Esprit Final Run Edition had a few modifications to distinguish it from previous models.

  • Bilstein Dampers with stiffened settings and adjustable spring platforms
  • Uprated Eibach Springs
  • Smart Tire system monitors temperature and pressure of each tire individually
  • New unpainted Stainless steel mesh grills
  • Esprit decal in rear quarter windows has an etched finish
  • Stainless steel plaque with the engine builders name on the plenum
  • All mesh grilles on the front valence and engine compartment are stainless steel in silver finish rather than black.
  • The tow how is silver in most models (although I did see some with back tow hooks)
  • Stainless steel perforated rear valance ("cheesgrater") with new rounded slots and a satin finish
  • The quilted stitching on the seat backs and perforated leather on the seat bottoms and door panels
  • Passenger side airbag cover is embossed with the Lotus roundel
  • Elise style climate control knobs with a brushed aluminum finish
  • New style shorter gear knob is finished in brushed aluminum and topped with a Lotus Badge

Lotus Type 135 electric sports car mixes the Emira with some Esprit

Mon, Jan 31 2022

Over the next four years, English sports car maker will make its oft-attempted transformations real by unveiling three "lifestyle vehicles" on its new Premium Architecture. The first is the Type 132 electric crossover, expected to debut in the next few months. After that will come the Type 133 four-door coupe, then the Type 134 crossover that's smaller than the Type 132. In that fourth year, we'll get the Type 135, an electric sports car that will recall the Lotus of old. This electric coupe, sitting on the firm's E-Sports architecture, is being called "a spiritual successor of the Elise," which would be a good thing. The teaser sketch Lotus released to hype up the car also makes us think Esprit, which, as far as we're concerned, is an even better thing. True, there's Elise and Exige and Emira in those exaggerated fenders, but the pointy ends are vintage early Esprit. But the looks aren't the point right now. The reason for the hubbub is Lotus signing a Memorandum of Understanding with British battery firm Britishvolt "to collaborate on research and development of advanced EV technology." The cooperation would put Lotus in charge of "electric propulsion technologies" like motors and control systems, while Britishvolt oversees a "new battery cell package." Goals for the pack are energy density, fast charging and weight reduction. Novel placement is on the menu, too, the E-Sports architecture laid out so that it can also accept batteries in the traditional style under the floor, or behind the cockpit a la a mid-engined sports car. The MOU could give the battery company two clients in one, as the Type 135 will be shared with Alpine across the Channel as well. By the time the Type 135 shows, Britishvolt's $5.1 billion battery factory in Northumberland should have been up and running for two years, ready to supply cells to the Type 135 that will be built at Lotus' historic Hethel, England headquarters (the other Types will be built in Wuhan, China at a manufacturing facility being developed by Lotus parent company Geely). The sports car will come in single- and dual-motor versions powering RWD and AWD trims, those motors expected produce anywhere between 469 and 872 horsepower providing a range of up to 450 miles on the WLTP cycle. The electronics will run on 800-volt architectures, the batteries ranging from 66.4-kWh to 99.6-kWh capacities.  Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Race recap: 2015 British Grand Prix is a testament to timing

Mon, Jul 6 2015

In front of his home crowd, Lewis Hamilton actually had to work for pole position at the British Formula One Grand Prix. The World Champion couldn't get on top of the setup for his Mercedes-AMG Petronas on Friday, lapping behind teammate Nico Rosberg and the two Ferraris. Come Saturday, after a few alterations and a whole lot of wing to clamp down on understeer, Hamilton returned to his regular program at the front, taking pole position by just over a tenth of a second from his teammate. Williams, thought to be headed for another stretch in the weeds a few races ago, showed its best strength all year. The Grove team got both cars on the second row and in front of the Ferraris, Felipe Massa qualifying ahead of teammate Valtteri Bottas, but they were eight and nine tenths behind the Mercedes'. Kimi Raikkonen out-qualified Ferrari teammate Sebastian Vettel for the second time this year, and only the first time in a straight-up battle with two healthy cars. But more than a second behind the two cars at the front, and with two nearly-impossible-to-pass Williams' in front, neither the Finn nor the German is happy with where they are. Daniil Kvyat claimed seventh, his side of the garage at Infiniti Red Bull Racing having got through the weekend to that point without a single complaint about their Renault power unit. Carlos Sainz, Jr. put a single Toro Rosso inside the top ten in eighth position, ahead of Nico Hulkenberg who did the same for Sahara Force India by slotting in ninth. The second Infiniti Red Bull driven by Daniel Ricciardo did have an unspecified engine complaint – his car kept "bleeding power" on the straights – but even so he managed to qualify tenth with his second-fastest lap. The stewards deleted his best lap because he ran three centimeters outside the track limits at Copse, an infraction that stung a few other drivers as well. Up in front, what would sting the Mercedes-AMG Petronas drivers the most was the start. That's when a dearth of grip struck both Hamilton and Rosberg, allowing Massa and Bottas to slide right up the middle between them and take the first two places. The leapfrogging was so surprising that it looked like the Mercedes drivers were giving the Williams drivers a head start. They diced through the first corners, Hamilton sliding past Bottas into second place halfway through the lap. And then the safety car reported for duty.

Xcar tosses the Lotus Evora 400 around in the rain

Sat, Aug 1 2015

Lotus appears to be blooming again after a rocky period, and the company is launching the Evora 400 here in December for $89,900. Xcar just got a hold of one of these updated coupes on a rainy day to find out if it can be a Porsche competitor. With 400 horsepower, the aptly named Evora 400 tops the Porsche Cayman GT4 by 15 ponies, and with a purported sprint to 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds, the Lotus also nudges out the Porsche by a tenth of a second. So on paper, the two coupes are quite comparable. Of course, Xcar also digs deep into more subjective factors, like how it actually feels behind the wheel. If you think you prefer a little more wind in your hair, the company is developing an Evora 400 roadster, too. Rather than an actual droptop, the roof will reportedly consist of two, removable carbon-fiber panels. It'll arrive on these shores in the coming years as part of Lotus' re-emergence.
