"One Elite Elise!"

Call Jeff at 616-881-2429

With much anticipation, the Lotus Elise, after clearing many federal regulation obstacles, was finally introduced to the US market. The proven concept that less weight equals more performance was the base line design of the Elise. These cars were all hand assembled and integrated some of the most advance lightweight technology including the Lotus designed epoxy bonded aluminum light weight chassis, light weight steel rear sub-frame and a RTM composite body. All said and done, these cars moved a mere 10 pounds for every horse power provided by a stout Toyota 1.8 liter inline 4 cylinder engine producing 190 hp. Further maximization of horsepower is assisted by Four-wheel independent suspension, Bilstein mono-tube gas dampers, Eibach coaxial coil springs and front anti-sway bar, and 6-speed synchromesh gearbox. The brakes consist of 4-wheel ventilated cross drilled brakes with squeezed by Lotus/AP Racing and Brembo Calipers. These cars are weightless and agile, still producing impressive 0-60 times of 5.1 seconds and setting seemingly effortless record speeds in the 600-ft slalom.

In 2008, Lotus built 50 "California" optioned cars for the US market, 25 in Ardent Red, and 25 in Saffron Yellow. The one owner, 2008 Lotus Elise California Saffron Yellow offered here remains outstanding and virtually new as it has driven and cared for just 4705 miles since new and never tracked. The "California" optioned cars were more highly optioned to appeal to "the lifestyle market" and also to showcase Lotus' aptitude for customization. While known for being spartanly optioned vehicles, the "California" equipped vehicles included an upgraded grill, body colored side air inlets, upgraded wheels, light two-tone leather interior, removable colored hard top, Alpine sound system and a larger rear spoiler all for just $5500.00 dollars on top of its normal MSRP. The car comes complete with original window sticker, driver handbook, tool kit, both hard and soft tops, all "California" options as mentioned, "Star Shield" and a perfect CARFAX.

With outstanding agility, feel and feedback, The Lotus Elise has the uncanny ability to make the car become a direct extension of the driver who pilots it. For this reason these cars hold value and remain on the bucket list of driver enthusiasts worldwide. Limited edition cars such as the "California" will always be in demand is an opportunity when presented for acquisition.

Lotus Emeya electric sedan revealed like a sleeker Eletre

Fri, Sep 8 2023

The number of four-door models in the Lotus line has doubled with the reveal of the Emeya electric sedan. Not surprisingly, it looks very much like the Eletre SUV, just lower and sleeker. The yellow and black debut color just emphasizes that fact, too. What is a bit surprising is the surprising lack of concrete details on the car. We really do mean it when we say this looks like the Eletre. The Emeya utilizes almost the same lines at every point, from the pointy, angry nose to the curvy flanks. But on the whole, the lower height and less overall visual mass makes it a much more successful design. It also adopts the active grille shutters, diffuser and rear spoiler like the Eletre. One thing that does differentiate the exterior of the Emeya is the use of dual running lights on each end of the front fascia. The Emeya's interior again is a near carbon copy of the Eletre's. A single screen is the focal point with an angular dual-cowl dash board surrounding it. A small screen is nestled in the dash behind the steering wheel to provide basic driving information. Extensive use of leather and faux suede is featured throughout. Specifications on the Emeya are lacking detail. It will be available in a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration that can reach speeds topping 155 mph. The motors will also get it to 62 mph in a claimed 2.8 seconds. It can take advantage of 350-kW-capable fast chargers, as well. The whole car also rides on an adaptive air suspension. But actual horsepower, torque, battery capacity and much more haven't been given.  The Emeya will go into production sometime next year. Naturally, pricing hasn't been announced, either. Being smaller than the Eletre, it may end up being a bit less costly. Stay tuned for more of that information closer to production. Related video:

Banned Lotus 88 F1 car explained by Colin Chapman's son

Tue, Apr 5 2016

Racing teams are always looking for ways to gain speed through creative interpretations of the rule book, but speed-obsessed engineers were a little too clever with the twin-chassis design for the Lotus 88 Formula One car. Colin Chapman's son, Clive, gave Goodwood the racer's fascinating story and why the organizers banned it. Lotus' innovation with the 88 was a novel twin-chassis layout. The outer chassis supported the aerodynamic elements and the body, and the inner one held the driver, engine, and transmission. The separate pieces allowed the car to meet the rules in the pits, but the outer chassis would create a seal with the track at speed to preserve the ground effect downforce. The organizers decided this ingenious solution went contrary to the rules against side skirts, and they banned the 88. However, this Lotus was important for a second reason. The inner chassis was F1's first carbon fiber monocoque. The lightweight material is common in racing and performance cars today, but it was a cutting-edge innovation for 1981. This Lotus Evora 410 is a custom tribute to the original Esprit

Fri, Feb 17 2017

We love the Lotus Evora, whether it's in the current 400 trim or new 410 trim, and now an enthusiast has ordered up perhaps the coolest livery. It's an Evora 410 in an Esprit tribute scheme. And it isn't modeled after just any first-generation Esprit, but rather the car featured in the James Bond flick, The Spy Who Loved Me. The car is a one-off commissioned by a customer through the Lotus Exclusive program, which offers buyers the opportunity to have the car customized with special paint, graphics, body work, and interiors. In the case of this particular Evora 410, the car has a white paint job and features a bumper and blacked-out grille. Extending from the top of the grille is a black stripe that bisects the body. These cues represent the black bumper and stripes of the Esprit. Another nice touch is the Evora name on the panels just aft of the side windows. They've been written in the same font as the classic Esprit. Lotus also points out that the bare carbon-fiber engine cover is meant to look a bit like the glass hatch of the original car. They're all simple, subtle touches, but they come together to create a classy and convincing tribute. Inside, things only get better. The upholstery features Tartan inserts that were popular and common on '70s sports cars. The shift knob is also now made from wood. They're joined by a heaping helping of black Alcantara and red stitching. Mechanically, this Evora 410 is effectively unchanged from the standard model. But as we said, that's fine since the standard model, with its 410-horsepower supercharged V6, is excellent. It should be noted though that, being a standard 410, it does not have the ability to travel underwater. As mentioned at the top, this car is presently a one-off built for a customer using Lotus Exclusive. So don't expect to start seeing these at dealer lots. However, you probably could still order a similar car through Lotus Exclusive. Or you could use the program to customize your Evora 410 some other way, say in black and gold like the John Player Special Lotus F1 cars, or maybe the company's green and yellow racing colors. All we're saying is, as cool as this is, don't let that restrict you from trying something new. Related Video:
